Chapter 1459: Chapter 1449: Unsealing the Conflict

What’s there to worry about? Oh, I heard a few days ago that the people from the mansion invited you to the tech show, but you refused. I think you should consider it carefully; after all, it’s a rare opportunity!

The principal stood up and patted Jiang Cheng on the shoulder.

Jiang Cheng didn’t say a word, just focused on his work. The principal wasn’t surprised by Jiang Cheng’s reaction and didn’t linger long before leaving the office. "Interesting," Jiang Cheng muttered to himself. It’s clear that the person encouraging me to attend the tech show isn’t the principal, since I made way for him in that position, he wouldn’t interfere with my actions so soon, especially considering my background.

The principal relayed Jiang Cheng’s response to the director, who became even more enraged upon hearing it and angrily picked up the phone to dial out. Jiang Cheng found it odd receiving the call, glanced at the unfamiliar number, hesitated for a moment, but answered.

As soon as the call was connected, an unknown voice came through, "May I ask who you are?"

Jiang Cheng was about to speak when the other party rudely scolded him, "Jiang Cheng, I’m telling you, don’t be ungrateful. The mansion invited you to attend the tech show because they hold you in high regard. Don’t think too highly of yourself. Even if you don’t attend, there will be many others who can take your place, so I advise you to reflect on your position."

Jiang Cheng let out a cold laugh, responding, "Oh really? So may I ask who gave you the right to lecture me?" Jiang Cheng’s mouth curled into a mocking smile as he replied calmly.

"Fine, you don’t know who I am? I’ll tell you, I’m Director Yang. I’m calling to notify you that you must attend the tech show," the director said angrily before hanging up.

"Alright, I got it," Jiang Cheng said, and without caring for Director Yang’s reaction, he hung up the phone.

Director Yang, frustrated and having nowhere to vent his anger, swept all the documents off his desk onto the floor. He felt somewhat nervous about Jiang Cheng’s tone.

But upon reconsidering, Jiang Cheng is just a lowly teacher with no connections, surely he was bluffing, so he didn’t dwell on it.

As night fell and time continued to pass, it gradually reached evening, the busiest time for hotels as various guests gathered there.

Long-lost friends often chose a hotel to spend their dinner time together, fulfilling their intentions.

Some aimed to build good relations with colleagues, some with superiors, some simply to gather with friends.

In a rather upscale hotel, Director Yang was dining, drinking, and chatting with a few friends from the mansion who also held notable positions.

The conversation eventually touched on Jiang Cheng’s refusal to attend the tech show. Since these were familiar friends, they openly expressed their dissatisfaction with Jiang Cheng.

As they drank, Director Yang became slightly intoxicated and said, "That Jiang Cheng really is ungrateful. I called him personally to attend the tech show, and he hung up on me! Isn’t that infuriating?"

One of Director Yang’s friends commented, "A mere teacher? How laughable."

"Exactly!" Others echoed.

Next morning, as Director Yang headed to work, he noticed some employees discussing something, but he thought nothing of it as he proceeded to his office.

Upon reaching his office, he found a letter on his desk. Opening it revealed it was a dismissal notice. Director Yang had been fired.

Suddenly recalling Jiang Cheng’s tone and attitude from the previous day, Director Yang knew it was Jiang Cheng’s doing. He never imagined that even a lowly teacher could manage to have him dismissed.

Director Yang slumped in his chair, his mind full of Jiang Cheng’s tone and scenes from yesterday. The more he thought about it, the more uneasy he felt, holding Jiang Cheng’s phone number with no courage to call.

Though certain it was Jiang Cheng’s doing, Director Yang was still unwilling to let go. He called Jiang Cheng, who had already predicted Director Yang would call and wasn’t surprised to see his incoming call.

Picking up the phone, Jiang Cheng said, "Director Yang, calling me so early in the morning, what can I do for you?"

Ignoring Jiang Cheng’s taunts, Director Yang straightforwardly asked, "You got me fired. Did you do it?"

"Indeed, I did. Surprised? I told you yesterday, didn’t I?" Jiang Cheng affirmed without hesitation.

Despite feeling resentful upon hearing Jiang Cheng’s confirmation, Director Yang said nothing further and hung up.

Jiang Cheng, watching the call end, let out a cold laugh and returned to his work.

Director Yang paused, suddenly realizing, "How did I miss this! Jiang Cheng’s position was apparent; why didn’t I see it!"

Since learning of Jiang Cheng’s status, Director Yang felt waves of regret flooding his heart. Now, he just wanted to find Jiang Cheng to talk things over and make amends for his previous mistakes.

"Principal Jiang, may I request a leave of absence? I have some matters to attend to over the coming days, please approve my leave request if you would be so kind?"

After hesitating outside Jiang Cheng’s office for a long time, Director Yang finally knocked and entered, speaking to Jiang Cheng with a submissive demeanor, unlike his previously confrontational manner.

However, upon seeing him, Jiang Cheng continued to ignore him, busy with his tasks. Such people, he had seen too many of; opportunists, whom Jiang Cheng despised most. Having previously suffered under their relentless criticism and exploitation, now that they knew his status, they eagerly ran to curry his favor. Such people deserved to be taught a lesson. Therefore, Jiang Cheng had no intention of accommodating this self-serving director today; instead, he planned to make him pay dearly.

"Principal Jiang, you see, I was somewhat reckless before. If I offended in any way, please bear with me. The wise do not bear grudges, and today I wish to apologize for my past ignorance and request leave from you," he said timidly, afraid of displeasing Jiang Cheng further. Seeing Jiang Cheng indifferent to his presence, he persisted, hoping his tone and attitude might soften Jiang Cheng’s heart.

"Director, are you not noticing I’m busy? Whatever it is, talk later. Right now, I have matters to take care of. If you need leave, you can talk to someone else; it’s not necessary to ask me, you know? Alright, if there’s nothing else, leave. I have to go out later; it’s essential I handle my documents quietly now."

Jiang Cheng paused before casually dismissing him. He showed no kindness to such people, opportunistic and bullying, abusing power and preying on the weak, a type of person Jiang Cheng despised his whole life. So, he scorned dealing with them.

"Oh, alright, Principal, I won’t disturb you any longer, apologies," Director Yang quickly remarked upon sensing Jiang Cheng’s irritation and impatience. It was wise to retreat swiftly to avoid aggravating him further.

Having said that, the director left, and Jiang Cheng glanced at his documents, chuckling coldly. This world, really, power can crush even at a glance; in the past, the director would never treat him with such regard. Ha, wanting my forgiveness? Don’t even think about it. You truly believe I don’t hold grudges? Just you wait, this is only the beginning," Jiang Cheng said as he stood up. He needed to take Dong Ran to his exam location, a fair distance from here, so Jiang Cheng and Dong Ran arranged to go early.
