Chapter 1444: Chapter 1434: Yearning Day and Night
Xu Ying mumbled, "Jiang Cheng, what’s wrong? Did something happen? Why is it so noisy?"
Jiang Cheng gently touched Xu Ying’s rosy face, reassuring her not to panic.
Then he turned and joined the chaos.
Jiang Cheng delivered a fierce punch to the man’s eye socket. As the man grimaced in pain, Jiang Cheng followed up with a leg sweep, forcing him to kneel. He then restrained him.
"Shouting loudly in public and causing disturbances—do you know you could be arrested for this?"
Jiang Cheng shouted angrily.
The man who was beaten could only keep saying, "I’m sorry, I’m sorry, everyone!"
Jiang Cheng finally let him go and returned to find Xu Ying.
Seeing Jiang Cheng, Xu Ying’s eyes filled with admiration, and she said, "Jiang Cheng, the great scientist, who knew you could fight so well! Cough, cough, cough."
Just as Jiang Cheng was about to reply, he heard Xu Ying coughing urgently and immediately said, "I’ll buy you some pear syrup with rock sugar; maybe the air conditioning was too high, and you caught a chill while sleeping."
Watching Jiang Cheng leave, Xu Ying felt a wave of warmth wash over her.
As Jiang Cheng was about to pay and leave, he noticed someone following him. He turned abruptly to see the man he had fought earlier, coming at him with a knife.
Jiang Cheng quickly tilted his neck, dodging the man’s sharp blade, then used his uninjured wrist to knock the knife out of the man’s hand.
Then he delivered powerful punches to the man’s waist and abdomen, causing the man to scream uncontrollably before finally kneeling and begging for mercy.
After subduing the man, Jiang Cheng used a rope from some nearby cargo to tie him up and handed him over to airport management.
Amidst the crowd’s applause and cheers, Jiang Cheng calmly took a cup of pear syrup with rock sugar and headed back to the waiting area.
The sunset’s afterglow spread across the far horizon of the airport.
Jiang Cheng walked over to Xu Ying, handed her the pear syrup with rock sugar, and sat on the chair next to her.
"Drink quickly, it’s getting cold. If you drink it, you won’t cough anymore, okay?" Jiang Cheng urged Xu Ying.
Xu Ying had slept too long and been under the air conditioning for too long, losing too much body fluid. She only felt thirsty and hungry.
Without even glancing at it, she took the pear syrup with rock sugar Jiang Cheng had handed her and drank it in large gulps.
"Cough, cough, cough..." Drinking too fast, Xu Ying accidentally choked on the syrup and started coughing.
Jiang Cheng watched Xu Ying with her red face from coughing and couldn’t help but shake his head, his expression indifferent.
But the movements of his hands betrayed his true feelings for Xu Ying. His right hand couldn’t help but gently cover Xu Ying’s back, patting her slowly.
"Drink slowly, no need to rush. If you want more, I can buy it for you, silly girl," Jiang Cheng said gently.
Once Xu Ying felt a bit better and her breathing had returned to normal, she planned to say something but noticed water-like droplets under Jiang Cheng’s chair.
She bent down for a closer look, discovering bright red blood drops—a stark sight.
Xu Ying couldn’t help but cry out in shock, "Ah! Whose blood is this? Jiang Cheng, are you alright?"
She reached out towards Jiang Cheng’s chest, wanting to check if he was injured.
Jiang Cheng subtly pulled his left hand behind his back, pretending to be clueless.
"Do you have any conscience, huh?" Jiang Cheng retorted.
Xu Ying was confused by Jiang Cheng’s sudden question and dumbly asked, "I was just worried about you, how am I lacking conscience? Hmph."
Jiang Cheng feigned innocence and replied, "I’m so good to you—buying you drinks and being a human pillow—and you still curse me."
Angry at Jiang Cheng’s explanation, Xu Ying furrowed her brow. "Turning a good heart into donkey liver and lungs, what a stinky man!"
She had always been like a princess on high, and now she’s worried for him, concerned he’s injured, but he thinks she’s cursing him?
"I must be ill to curse you? You’re just a peacock flaunting itself, indulging in wishful thinking!" Xu Ying retorted.
Jiang Cheng chose to ignore Xu Ying’s response and pulled out his phone to check the flight details.
After all, it’s been two hours. If the plane still can’t resume flying, it may be due to some malicious incident.
Xu Ying saw she was being flamboyantly ignored by the man and couldn’t help but feel more anxious.
"Am I less important than the flight schedule in your heart? Ignoring me and playing with your phone?" Xu Ying couldn’t help but stand up angrily. Jiang Cheng glanced at Xu Ying but said nothing, continuing his search. "Checking the flight is for you, a girl who can’t settle."’
"You want to go home so much; if the flight doesn’t resume soon, we won’t fly tonight, how can I let you arrive home earlier to see the grandfather you miss day and night?"
Xu Ying, of course, didn’t know Jiang Cheng’s true feelings; she only assumed he wasn’t even willing to talk to her anymore.
Suddenly, Xu Ying impulsively lunged forward to grab Jiang Cheng’s phone.
Unprepared, Jiang Cheng quickly extended his injured left hand to restrain Xu Ying from seizing his phone.
Xu Ying inadvertently noticed Jiang Cheng’s suddenly extended left hand, with the wound on his wrist cracked open, bleeding profusely.
The woman was shocked and couldn’t utter a word, starting to cry. Jiang Cheng felt resigned, so he used his right hand to pull Xu Ying into his embrace, coaxing her gently.
"Alright, alright, it’s nothing; it just happened when I dealt with the bad guy."
"Just a bit, not a big deal. Don’t be afraid, sweetie!" Jiang Cheng stroked Xu Ying’s head.
"It’s all my fault; I’m sorry! Sob," Xu Ying sobbed, filled with self-blame.
After a while, Xu Ying regained some composure and calmness. "Let me bandage you. The airport just contacted my grandfather; he’s sending a private jet to pick us up soon," Xu Ying said, her lips pursed.
Jiang Cheng nodded slowly, indicating he understood. Xu Ying knelt on one knee, using gauze bought from a nearby pharmacy to bandage Jiang Cheng while gently blowing on his wound.
"Why are you blowing on it?" Jiang Cheng couldn’t help but ask.
Xu Ying smiled and said, "When I was little and got hurt, my mom would bandage me like this; she said blowing on it would make it less painful."
Jiang Cheng watched the innocent Xu Ying and couldn’t help but smile warmly.
Elder Xu’s plane arrived quickly, coincidentally there was an extra route for private use.
Jiang Cheng and Xu Ying finally arrived at the Xu Family’s old home before dinner, and the moonlight slowly emerged.
As soon as Xu Ying got home, before she could warmly greet her grandfather, she rushed into the kitchen.
Xu Zhe, puzzled, slowly walked to the kitchen and asked, "Little princess, why are you cooking today? Don’t you miss your grandpa?"
Xu Ying turned her head with a smile, but her hands kneading dough didn’t stop. "Grandpa, of course I miss you; how could I not? But Jiang Cheng got hurt because of me, so I want to cook a meal for him myself." Elder Xu heard this but said nothing and left, his face showing a thoughtful expression.
