Chapter 597: Chapter 388: 100 Years of Solitude

Wang Er stepped forward with a teapot to serve him. "Young Master Wang Jue, why are you dressed so sharply today? Is there a happy occasion?"

"Indeed, there is a happy occasion," Wang Jue said. "Today, your Young Master is going to join Cyan Wood Mountain."

"Really!" Wang Er blinked, then suddenly slapped his thigh. "I almost forgot. Today is the second day of the second lunar month, the day Cyan Wood Mountain recruits disciples. The last time Cultivators from Cyan Wood Mountain came to our village was four years ago. Tsk tsk, I still remember that Li the Eighth’s son was selected. Old Li’s family is truly blessed. That kid from the Li Family looks a bit slow, but to think he actually has a superior Spirit Root. By now, that kid must be a high-and-mighty Spirit Cultivator. But Young Master Wang Jue, I remember you failed the selection last time. Your Spirit Root seems to be of inferior grade, so Cyan Wood Mountain won’t accept you..."

"I don’t want to talk to you!" Wang Jue snatched the teapot and teacup from Wang Er’s hands, drinking by himself. Now that he had obtained the title, there was no need for him to act like an idiot and shout "I am Ma San!" as he had for the past two days.

By noon, a horse-drawn carriage appeared on the official road.

In Wang Jue’s memory, Spirit Cultivators cultivated spiritual arts and performed the Refinement of spiritual treasures, but they rarely practiced Martial Arts.

"I want to challenge an Inner Court disciple!"

Inside the main hall of Cyan Wood Mountain, Wang Jue found the Inner Court mentor, Li Fangzhu. Cupping his fists, he shouted, "This disciple wishes to join the Inner Court!"

Li Fangzhu glanced at him. "Wang Jue, challenging and defeating an Inner Court disciple can indeed earn you the qualifications to enter the Inner Court. However, with your abilities, I think you should forget about it." He shook his head, clearly not thinking highly of Wang Jue.

"Mentor, I am serious," Wang Jue said. "Please give me this chance!"

Li Fangzhu sighed. "Fine. Tell me, out of the chief disciples of the Inner Court’s Class A, B, C, and D, who do you wish to challenge?"

"Yun Hu, of course," Wang Jue said. "I’ve found him an eyesore for a long time!"

"Yun Hu!" Li Fangzhu frowned. "Wang Jue, are you sure you’re not just looking to get yourself killed?"

"Please grant my request, Mentor," Wang Jue said calmly.

"Then... fine. Out of respect for Mentor Qingyu, I will arrange this challenge for you. Come to the martial arena tomorrow morning!"

"Understood!" Wang Jue got exactly what he wanted.

Early the next morning at the martial arena, Wang Jue stood in high spirits with his Iron Sword strapped to his back.

Three zhang away stood a tall and sturdy young man. Bare-chested and over two meters tall, the youth had copper-colored skin and highly developed muscles. This was exactly Yun Hu. He was a Cultivator in the mid-stage of the Spirit Body Realm, the chief disciple of the Inner Court’s Class C, and possessed innate Divine Power that allowed him to lift weights of a thousand catties. At this moment, Yun Hu was squinting at Wang Jue.

He thought, "This divinely martial youth is someone even Tyson couldn’t match, but..."

Wang Jue smiled. He hadn’t chosen to challenge Yun Hu merely because he found the guy an eyesore. Among the chief disciples of the Inner Court’s four classes, this fellow was the bulkiest and the slowest, meaning he would most likely be countered by his Fast Sword.

"Wang Jue, a piece of trash with inferior aptitude like you dares to challenge me? You truly overestimate yourself!" Yun Hu mocked.

Among the mentors watching, a white-haired old man frowned. "Isn’t this child named Wang Jue? Since when did he change his name to Ma San?"

Beside the old man, Li Fangzhu, dressed in a cyan shirt, shook his head. "This kid Wang Jue might have caught some hysteria. I heard he was calling himself Fast Sword Ma San, and it turns out to be true! Sigh, I see no suspense in this match at all. We might as well cancel it right here... Mentor Qingyu, what do you think?"

The third mentor was a young woman with a beautiful, clear countenance. She looked at Wang Jue coldly and said, "Everything will proceed according to the rules. No need to worry about me!"

"Alright, then let me terminate this match to save Wang Jue from getting hurt." The middle-aged man in the cyan shirt stood up, just about to use his authority as a mentor to end the battle early, when Wang Jue on the martial arena suddenly raised his sword and charged.

Wang Jue thrust the gleaming tip of his sword right in front of Su Yun Hu’s throat. A gentle smile appeared on his face, but inwardly, he was incredibly exhilarated.

The tale of Wang Jue defeating Yun Hu on the martial arena immediately spread throughout the academy, greatly astonishing many Junior Cultivators and even the mentors.

Inside the Purple Jade Pavilion, "Mentor Qingyu," wearing a green dress, pinched an emerald green small knife. Frowning, she muttered, "How could that kid possess such Swordsmanship? Are you helping him? You shouldn’t have; he is not worthy." She scoffed softly, her expression becoming extremely complicated.

On the martial arena not far away, Yun Hu had not left.

He was swinging his Crimson Fire Club on the stage, sweating profusely from exhaustion. "Dammit! To think I was defeated by that trash Wang Jue... Where is my dignity? Where is my dignity..." Yun Hu was incredibly resentful.

Below the martial arena, one of the three mentors who had watched the battle earlier, the white-haired old man, stroked his beard. He looked at Yun Hu with a smile and nodded. "This child is a promising talent. As for Fast Sword Ma San... That Swordsmanship is but a petty trick, not the orthodox path."

Among the three mentors who had observed the battle, there was another person—Li Fangzhu in the cyan shirt. This mentor was currently searching for Wang Jue.

"That kid Wang Jue ran away rather quickly, slipping off the moment the fight ended. Doesn’t he know he’s supposed to report to me and collect his Spirit Seed? Sigh, for the sake of Shen Qingyu, I will lower myself and go find him!" The cyan-shirted man flicked his sleeves, a look of displeasure showing in his expression.

By this time, Wang Jue had already run out of the academy. He returned to his own residence, tightly shut the doors and windows of his bedroom, and then sat cross-legged on his bed. A system panel that only he could see popped up in front of him, and he began to study it carefully.

"Players can obtain titles during the game. Titles are divided into four tiers: white, green, blue, and Gold. White titles usually have no functional effects and are also known as blank titles. Green titles possess one functional effect, blue titles possess two functional effects, and Gold titles possess three functional effects."
