Chapter 1197: Growing Grass

Team Ankylosaurus slowly moved forward with their Formation Array Network. Red kept looking through the Sensing Formation Array, while Abyssal Depths kept watch over their surroundings. They couldn't see the enemy with their eyes, which meant that the enemy also had a Concealing Formation Array.

"We will be narrowly passing them," Kyle transmitted. "There is a high chance that they will notice us, but we won't engage unless they engage first."

"How accurate is your measurement?" Abyssal Depths asked.

"I can pinpoint their location with an error margin of four million kilometers. We will be entering that area soon. I would assume that they have at least one Adept Immortal with a Sensing Formation Array. This means that they will sense us shortly after we enter the margin of error," Kyle explained.

The other two nodded before planning for the potential battle.

"I can take one of the Adept Immortals," Abyssal Depths answered. "My power is average to slightly above-average in the Adept Universe Realm. I can't be certain that I will win, but I'll try my best. If there are two Adept Immortals, I will lose with certainty. If there are three Adept Immortals in the team, we might not survive this Excursion."

"I can take one as well," Sebastian transmitted.

Abyssal Depths glanced at Sebastian with a brow raised in skepticism. "Are you certain?" she asked.

"I will probably not win, but I can definitely buy us some time," Sebastian answered.

"An Adept Immortal has twice as much Energy as you. From what I've heard, you only have two Complex Level Eight Laws. The average Adept Immortal has a Level Eight and a Level 8.5 Law. I can't see how you can buy us time," Abyssal Depths commented.

"It won't be easy, but I can back up my words," Sebastian transmitted with conviction. "I know how powerful I am."

Abyssal Depths looked at Sebastian for a moment. She still didn't believe him, but she also wouldn't engage any further. Starting an argument wouldn't help the team. "Kyle, what about you?"

"I'll unleash as much power as necessary," Blue answered. "I don't want stories of my power to spread already. Don't engage the enemy too aggressively. Stay defensive for now."

Abyssal Depths felt like Kyle was a bit too confident. She knew that Kyle was most likely stronger than her, but he talked like the other team couldn't possibly be a danger.

"You're the leader," Abyssal Depths said emotionlessly. She had her opinions, but she wouldn't voice them during such a critical moment.

"We're about to enter their range," Kyle transmitted.

They slowly kept going forward.

Seconds passed.

Finally, they entered the area.

"Nothing yet," Kyle transmitted.

"How do you know?" Sebastian asked.

"I have 2.5 roles, not just one," Kyle answered.

"Oh, I got it. Forgot about that," Sebastian commented.

Another second passed.

A glimmer appeared in Kyle's eyes as he noticed something. "Three Adept Immortals and a New Immortal," Kyle transmitted. "The New Immortal is their Formation Array Master, but her Formation Arrays are nothing to write home about. They've noticed us."

Sebastian's eyes narrowed as Abyssal Depths' brows rose slightly in surprise.

'That was fast,' she thought. 'A competent Karmic Senser is a great asset.'

Just now, Red and Blue had noticed four Karmic Lines subtly changing. These changes had been so subtle and quick that it was impossible for almost every Immortal to sense them. However, Kyle knew the Law of Karmic Causality.

It was important to note that Karmic Lines were not directly attached to Avatars but to the Immortal themselves. So, when Red and Blue had been spotted by the enemy, Green also experienced the changes in Karmic Luck.

In the Excursion Lobby, Green simply followed the Karmic Lines and noticed another team that was also in the Excursion Lobby. This allowed Kyle to identify the enemy.

Green guided Abyssal Depths' and Sebastian's Divine Consciousnesses, showing them the enemy team.

Title: Growing Grass Team.

Average Power: Adept Immortal.

Affiliation: Wargod's Peak (affiliate).

The Growing Grass Team didn't look in their direction, but that didn't say much. After all, they were also not looking at the Growing Grass Team. Both teams were simply acting like they hadn't seen each other.

'This is the worst team we could have met,' Abyssal Depths thought as she narrowed her eyes. 'Our power makes us lucrative prey for them. We're strong enough to have valuables that they might be interested in while also being weak enough to not pose a true danger. There's no chance they won't attack us. Kyle might need to show his true power.'

Based on all of the information, it was clear that the Growing Grass Team wasn't a talented or strong team.

They had a very unintimidating name. They preyed on new teams, as was evident by their presence here. They couldn't hire a proper Formation Array Master and were forced to take a New Immortal with them. They didn't have a full lineup of members. Finally, they were only affiliates of the Wargod's Peak, not true members.

Immortals chose their affiliation when they entered the Immortal Dimension since there was no good reason to postpone the choice. Every Immortal would be accepted, but only for a limited time. If the Immortal didn't perform well, they would be downgraded from Core Disciples to Inner Disciples. They would still be true members of their Organization, but they wouldn't be protected as well as Core Disciples or Chosen. For example, they were true members, but their status gave them the protection of affiliates.

True member protection statuses were valuable. Every Organization could hand out one temporary true member protection status to every member, but when the time limit passed, they had to grant a permanent one or revoke it. This temporary status gave the Organizations time to test their new recruits. New recruits would join one of their true member teams for some Excursions, and the usual members of these teams would evaluate them. If they were seen as lacking, the new recruits would be demoted to Inner Disciples.

The New Immortal might have chosen to become an affiliate, but the three Adept Immortals most likely hadn't. They simply hadn't been good enough.

'Well, what did I expect?' Kyle thought. 'They're spawn camping. You only find new players and spawn campers near spawns. If these guys were strong, they wouldn't be here.'

"I'll take the one with the weapon," Abyssal Depths transmitted. "I would assume that his two friends are currently working on their Self Imposing Laws. He's probably keeping them safe until their Imposing Laws become powerful enough to be of use again. He should be the strongest."

"What about you?" Kyle asked. "You don't have a weapon, which means you also have a Self Imposing Law."

"I'm already at 85% quality," she transmitted. "That's why I'm slightly above-average. My Self Imposing Law is already useful. His Weapon Imposing Law is probably at 90%, but he's probably the only dangerous one."

"Why are you taking the strongest one?" Sebastian asked. "Why not leave him for Kyle?"

"I don't need to win," Abyssal Depths explained. "I can tie their strongest member down. Kyle can attack the weaker ones. My bet is that Kyle wins faster than my opponent wins against me."

"Chill out," Kyle transmitted. "You're too serious. Remember, be defensive, not offensive. As long as you fight defensively, nothing will happen."

Abyssal Depths narrowed her eyes. She wasn't the biggest fan of Kyle's lack of urgency.

"You're the leader," she transmitted evenly.
