Chapter 549 - 399: The First Internet Phone Card? Saving the Genius Chip Designer
’He’s a little big for a "kid brother," isn’t he?’
She looked at the six-foot-one Chen Yansen. He was wearing a baseball cap, and his profile was handsome, but she couldn’t see his eyes or brows.
A moment later, Meng Jie’s milk tea was ready.
The way Meng Jie drank her milk tea was just like Chen Yansen; she took a big slurp.
The two of them strolled slowly along a small path.
"Looks like someone’s riding motorcycles over there," Meng Jie said, pointing to an empty lot at the foot of the mountain.
"Let’s go check it out." Chen Yansen understood what she meant and took the initiative to suggest it.
From the mountainside to the foot of the mountain, the journey looked to be just a finger’s length away, but it took them over ten minutes to walk.
BMW R1200GS, Kawasaki KX450F, Honda CB1100—Chen Yansen only recognized these three bikes. He wasn’t too familiar with the brands and models of the rest.
He’d been into motorcycles for a while and had even bought a Harley-Davidson flagship, an Ultra Glide. He used it to pick up a few "biker babes" from the live-streaming scene, but in less than half a year, half the girls on his contact list were gone.
President Chen cherished his life, so how could he dare to keep playing with motorcycles? He left the bike at the Feiyu headquarters as a decoration, or lent it to the short-drama project department to serve as a prop for flexing when the "Crooked-Mouthed Dragon King" character made an entrance.
"Do you know how to ride a motorcycle?" Meng Jie asked, a flash of eagerness in her eyes.
"Nope," Chen Yansen said, shaking his head.
"You’re such a noob. I learned how to ride in middle school, but my dad said motorcycles are too dangerous," Meng Jie said with a grin, the corners of her mouth turning up.
"Our dad is right. But still, can you even get on one?" Chen Yansen teased with a smile.
Meng Jie was 5’1"; sitting on a motorcycle, her feet wouldn’t even touch the ground.
"I ride a Honda Monkey," Meng Jie retorted, not at all annoyed, and burst out laughing.
Compared to two years ago, her clothes and style were much more feminine, but her personality was still as carefree and straightforward as ever.
One of the motorcycle riders nearby saw Meng Jie, revved his engine lightly, and boldly approached them. He asked in a faux-gentlemanly manner, "Hey beautiful, want to hop on for a ride?"
As he spoke, he deliberately showed off the BMW logo on his bike.
"Thanks, but I only ride with my boyfriend," Meng Jie refused decisively.
"No problem. I can take you for a spin first, then take your boyfriend for a spin," the BMW rider said.
His words were smooth, but he had already made up his mind: first, he’d trick the girl into coming with him. As for the guy in the baseball cap next to her, he could go cool his heels somewhere else.
"How about you take me for a spin first?" Chen Yansen lifted his head, a playful look on his face as he watched the guy.
"You... Bro, has anyone ever told you that you look a lot like Chen Yansen from Senlian Capital?"
The BMW rider had been about to say, ’You’re a guy, are you trying to compete with a girl for a ride?’ But after getting a clear look at Chen Yansen’s face, his heart skipped a beat, and he asked with an awkward smile.
He was certain that the person in front of him was Chen Yansen!
So, on a sudden whim, he made a joke to try and ease the tension.
"He’s my biological brother from another mother and father," Chen Yansen fibbed.
Meng Jie couldn’t hold it in and covered her mouth, giggling.
"President Chen, I’m a fan. Can I get a photo with you?" The BMW rider gave an embarrassed smile and asked, pulling out a Yaocheng X1.
"Thank you for supporting Orange Technology." Chen Yansen glanced at the phone and replied with a smile.
If the guy had pulled out an Orange C3 or Orange C3S, his claim would have been questionable. But the Yaocheng X1 only ran on the Aurora Future System and didn’t have a complete app ecosystem, making it particularly unappealing to young people.
A user willing to order one right away, even if not a die-hard fan of Orange Technology, was pretty close to one.
"My name is Yu Erbao. My friends call me Xiaobao." Yu Erbao hopped off his motorcycle and introduced himself, his face wreathed in smiles.
"Then is your older brother named Yu Dabao?" Meng Jie blurted out reflexively.
"My brother’s name is Yu Xianyang..." Yu Erbao’s mouth twitched as he replied with a wry smile.
"Oh, you poor thing," Meng Jie added, twisting the knife.
A few decades ago, giving a son a name like ’Yu Erbao’ might have been acceptable, but since Yu Erbao was only in his early twenties, the name made it seem like his parents hadn’t put much thought into it.
What’s more, his brother’s name was perfectly normal.
"Good thing your name isn’t Yu’e Bao," Chen Yansen joked.
"Hahaha..." Meng Jie, who had been holding back her laughter, finally lost it, laughing so hard her stomach hurt.
"President Chen, I didn’t expect you to be so humorous in person," Yu Erbao said with a goofy grin.
Yu Xianyang?
’That name sounds a little familiar!’ Chen Yansen thought.
He quickly searched his brain and soon dug up a fragment from the vast ocean of his memory.
Yu Xianyang: a top student in microelectronics from Peking University, a lead engineer at NVIDIA. Ten years from now, he would be promoted to senior principal engineer while only in his forties. In the future, his status in the semiconductor industry would be on par with Tiangong Technology’s chief scientist, Mike Keller.
But just as he was about to accept an invitation from Huawei and return to China, he and his wife were in an unexpected car accident and both lost their lives.
Of the two brothers, one was a reckless street racer, and the other was a top R&D engineer in the industry. Truly born of the same mother but with different fates.
Afterward, Chen Yansen posed for a few photos with him, then swung his leg over Yu Erbao’s BMW R1200GS and sped off along the winding mountain road like the wind.
Seeing this, his companions were secretly amazed. Someone shouted loudly, "Xiaobao, how’d you let another man ride off on your wife?"
"Hahaha...!"
"Yeah, didn’t you say this BMW R1200GS was your wife? You usually don’t even let us touch her."
The remaining few chimed in, teasing him.
Yu Erbao’s eyes darted around, and a freshly baked lie rolled right off his tongue: "That bro’s girlfriend is blind, and he wanted to take her for a ride. I’m just doing a good deed, you know?"
"Holy shit! You’ve had a change of heart, kid!"
"Tsk tsk tsk, you can’t judge a book by its cover!"
Yu Erbao turned a deaf ear to his friends’ digs, his mind filled with the joyous anticipation of going home to post on his social media and show off.
He didn’t want anyone else to know that the big boss of companies like Orange Technology, Pinbei Mall, and Cloud Speed Express was sitting on his "wife."
He had to have the photos all to himself!
If everyone had one, how could he still flex?
「Meanwhile.」
Chen Yansen pushed the speed to 93 miles per hour. The fierce wind howled around them, frightening Meng Jie so much that she hugged his waist tightly, her two "little buns" pressed against President Chen’s back.
"Slow down!"
"A little slower!"
"Chen Yansen, I’m begging you!"
"Dad Chen, slow down!"
Meng Jie shouted incoherently.
Racing at 93 mph on a mountain road was like repeatedly jumping back and forth on the Grim Reaper’s face every second.
Chen Yansen ignored her. He knew that with Meng Jie’s personality, she might be scared now, but later she’d find it thrilling.
His Spiritual Power spread out around them like a tide, firmly enveloping both Meng Jie and himself.
It looked dangerous, but in reality, it was very safe.
After one lap, Meng Jie’s lips were pale, but her eyes were full of excitement. She demanded breathlessly, "Didn’t you say you didn’t know how to ride a motorcycle?"
"And you believed me?" Chen Yansen said.
"You’re my boyfriend. I believe everything you say," Meng Jie said in a small voice, as quiet as the buzz of a mosquito.
She thought Chen Yansen couldn’t hear her, but with his hearing, he heard every word clearly.
Chen Yansen smiled lightly, pretending he hadn’t heard.
"President Chen, please don’t ride like that next time. I saw your speed just now, it had to be at least 75 or 80 mph. If something had happened, my little arms and legs wouldn’t have been able to handle the consequences."
Yu Erbao’s calves were trembling as he took the helmet Chen Yansen handed him.
Chen Yansen leaned against the roadside and chatted a bit more with Yu Erbao. With his communication skills, he steered the conversation to Yu Xianyang in just a few sentences and got his contact information.
The salary abroad might be high, but the compensation at Tiangong Technology wasn’t bad either. Rather than let Yu Xianyang work for foreigners, it was better to recruit him into his ranks ahead of time.
"Go easy on the motorcycle riding. It’s either the bike that goes first, or you do."
Chen Yansen waved goodbye to Yu Erbao and strolled back toward the hot spring hotel on the mountainside.
"Pah! You’ve got some nerve telling me that," Yu Erbao grumbled at Chen Yansen’s retreating back.
Unexpectedly, Chen Yansen immediately turned his head and pointed to his ear.
Yu Erbao froze. ’We’re over a hundred meters apart, and you can hear me? Who are you kidding!’
’That little bastard.’ Hearing the silent slander from behind, Chen Yansen couldn’t help but chuckle.
That night, far away in Santa Clara, California, Yu Xianyang received a recruitment call from Tiangong Technology. Human Resources offered him a 30% salary increase and a full benefits package to join them.
