Stronger by Killing
Chapter 655: Confucian Saint and the New Civilization
“It cannot be him.” The Confucian Saint shook his head and said with certainty, “You are the destiny chosen by the world’s will, and the fact that I could find you was guided by that will. There is absolutely no mistake.”
“But, teacher, how do you explain Gu Zhan’s existence?” Jin Yuanbao asked, “Gu Zhan has risen from a nobody to where he is now, and any of the legendary events he has experienced would be enough to astonish a lifetime. For him, legend has become commonplace. Don’t you think he, instead, resembles the true destiny? Compared to him, I’m entirely like a grain of rice next to the bright moon!
If it were one or two instances, perhaps it’s just his life, but now he’s already leading this era. Even if he’s not the destiny, he has become the destiny!”
The Confucian Saint was silent for a moment and said, “What you say makes sense but, in fact, you are the destiny. For the human world to survive the catastrophe, the only way out lies with you.”
Jin Yuanbao also remained silent for a long time before saying, “Teacher, I will not refuse your wishes. If you want me to save the human world, I also agree. Even if there’s only a slim chance, I am duty-bound. I only have one question: will I stand on the opposing side of Gu Zhan?”
“This…” The Confucian Saint hesitated for a long while before saying, “I’m not sure. Gu Zhan’s emergence was beyond my expectations. I have trapped the Celestial Dao’s avatar for many years, always lacking confidence in securing victory, so I’ve been waiting for you.
I predicted the changes in the human world, but the only thing I didn’t foresee was Gu Zhan’s emergence. His existence has deviated from the trajectory, and I haven’t been able to find his origins, nor calculate his past or future. It’s as if he never existed, so whether you will become his enemy, I do not know.
However, it is very likely, because what we are doing runs counter to his interests.”
Jin Yuanbao said gravely, “Teacher, what exactly are your plans?”
The Confucian Saint said, “I’ve trapped the heavens for thousands of years just to prevent it from contacting the Celestial Dao itself. During this time, I’ve communicated certain affairs to the Three Major Ancestral Veins and the Four Major Side Sects,
letting them understand part of the truth, guiding them towards a rebellious idea against the heavens. Yet their rebellion is no different from an ant trying to shake a tree; it is destined to fail.”
Jin Yuanbao asked, “Why did you guide them to do such a thing?”
The Confucian Saint sighed and said, “Because I’ve seen the heavens, and I’m very aware that humans cannot win. However, I still don’t want the human world to remain an eternal pasture for the Celestial Dao.
To nurture its provisions, the Celestial Dao breeds struggles in the human world. Generation after generation, living beings are devastated, slaughtering one another, and in the end, the victor merely earns the qualification to be consumed. What a sorrow! What an unfairness.
Instead of endless reincarnation, it’s better to make a desperate attempt; enduring a short pain is better than a long one. We trade the turmoil of an era for everlasting freedom.”
Jin Yuanbao was somewhat puzzled.
The Confucian Saint said, “I’m guiding them to rebel against the heavens, to exhaust the resources of the human world, to break the Human Power, and to turn the human world into a mundane world without cultivation, without Extraordinary Power. In doing so, it will no longer capture the Celestial Dao’s attention, and thus true freedom can be obtained.
Furthermore, and this is the most important part: during my years beyond the heavens, I discovered that the Celestial Dao controls many worlds, relying on the mutual attraction of extraordinary power and faith.
If the cultivation civilization dies, the faith of humans in the Immortal Gods will dissipate. Thus, the Celestial Dao’s surveillance can be completely escaped. By then, a new civilization that requires neither faith nor cultivation will arise. True freedom will come at that time!”
As he spoke,
The Confucian Saint raised his hand and drew several streaks of Magical Power in the air, instantly forming a globe that slowly revealed the mountains and rivers.
“What do you see?”
Jin Yuanbao said blankly, “I see a globe with mountains and rivers on it…”
“No, this is the Human World, the full view of the Human World!” said the Confucian Saint.
Jin Yuanbao exclaimed, “How can the Human World be like this?”
“It is not like this now,” the Confucian Saint said, “but when my plan succeeds, the Human World will become like this. To shatter the belief in the Immortal Gods, one must first break the deeply rooted cognition and truth, starting from the rounded sky and square earth concept.
The sky will no longer be round, the earth will no longer be square, and the Human World will no longer have gods and immortals. At that time, a new civilization will be born—a civilization of exploration and knowledge-seeking,
I believe the Human World does not need gods!”
Jin Yuanbao remained silent for a long time, then slowly said, “No wonder you said it is very likely to become enemies with Gu Zhan. Your plan indeed shakes his interests, or rather, your shattering of faith is a direct challenge to the entire Cultivation Realm, inherently opposing it.”
“Indeed,” the Confucian Saint said, “without faith, there will be no more Immortal Gods. Who can relinquish nobility? However, this is something I must do. I have no retreat, and neither does the Human World. If there is no change, the Human World will eventually perish, ceasing to exist.”
Jin Yuanbao remained silent for a long time, then sighed, slowly picked up a sword, stood up, bowed to the Confucian Saint, and then turned to descend the mountain. After taking a few steps, he suddenly stopped and said, “Teacher, you are the Saint, what you do must be right.
It’s just that, as a Saint, you stand too high to see many things, just as the Celestial Dao stands too high to understand the Human World. You haven’t interacted with Gu Zhan, but I have, face to face. That sense of powerlessness, even now, I cannot forget.
Teacher, you say I am the destiny, but the world’s will fears the Celestial Dao, which shows that the world’s will is neither omniscient nor omnipotent. There exists something stronger and higher. Therefore, I as the so-called destiny, is not absolute. Gu Zhan might originate from above the world’s will. I don’t want to be his enemy; I inexplicably feel a sense of unease. Even with you backing me as a support, I don’t know why but I still feel fear. Perhaps this is the perception and alertness of the destiny.”
With that, Jin Yuanbao’s figure disappeared.
The Confucian Saint sat on the chair, deep in thought.
“The alertness of destiny, could it be that, as Yuanbao said, Gu Zhan comes from a higher place? Is that why I cannot deduce his origins?”
“It seems it’s time to meet Gu Zhan!”
At that moment,
The Confucian Saint slowly stood up, however, in the next moment, his expression suddenly changed,
he sensed two extremely powerful auras,
“Daoist, monk,”
The Confucian Saint’s eyes glistened with a cold light and he said in a deep voice, “No wonder the Celestial Dao hasn’t moved for thousands of years; it suddenly acts today, calling upon you two dogs!”
