235. Press and insanity

After the 27–2 demolition of Valladolid, the press conference was packed. Journalists from around the world waited with sharpened questions. Caos sat at the table beside Florentino Pérez and Kylian Mbappé, who had been invited to join for the post-match discussion.

Journalist 1 (L’Équipe):

Mbappé, you’ve been playing alongside Caos for years now. There are constant rumors about your future,  Real Madrid contract extension or a big move. What are your plans?

Mbappé (smiling confidently, speaking in French with English translation):

I’m happy here. Playing with Caos is a dream. He makes everyone better. The team is special.

But I’m also thinking about the future. I want to win more Champions Leagues. I want to be part of something historic. We’ll see what happens. For now, I’m focused on this season and helping the team.You can spend weeks helping a project improve its onboarding, answering questions from newcomers, or solving problems that would otherwise slow the team down, and yet someone who joined yesterday may have a clearer public reputation than you do. Not necessarily because they have done more, but because people can see and understand what they bring to the table. This is something I think more contributors should learn, doing valuable work matters, but learning to communicate that value matters too. You should not have to boast about every little thing you do, but neither should you assume that good work will always speak for itself.

Journalist 2 (Marca):

There are reports that your sister Melissa has been in contact with Caos. Any comment on that?

Mbappé (laughing lightly):

Melissa and Caos talk sometimes. She’s always been honest with him. She’s like a big sister to a lot of us. No drama there. She just wants what’s best for everyone.

Caos (calm, adding):

Melissa is a good friend. She gives honest advice. Nothing more.

Journalist 3 (ESPN):

Caos, with your growing family and the royal situation, how does that affect your focus on the pitch?

Caos:

It gives me more reason to push harder. The children will see what their father built. I play for them.

Florentino Pérez (smiling):

Both of these players are the heart of Real Madrid. Their future is bright here.

The press room buzzed with murmurs as the conference ended.

OUTSIDE

Caos sat with the three maids in the garden.

Zeraphina:

Mbappé handled the questions well. The world is curious about his future.

Caos:

He’s loyal. But he has ambitions. I respect that.

The night continued with quiet conversation and the violet energy wrapping around them like a protective cocoon.
