Street Hustler and His Policewoman Wife
Chapter 734: He Turned Back!
Liu Dayou told Chen Xiao a location.
When Qin Fei drove to the place, Liu Dayou and the others had just arrived.
Chen Xiao walked up to Ye Jun.
At this moment, Ye Jun was already a cold corpse.
However, Liu Dayou did something very right.
As soon as he learned of Ye Jun's death, he immediately reminded the police who came to the scene not to touch the body.
So, what Chen Xiao saw now was Ye Jun, just as he appeared after being killed.
Ye Jun's death was not special.
He was simply killed with one stab!
The stab was in his heart, and the ground was covered with crimson blood.
Judging from the blood's coagulation, Ye Jun's time of death should be within an hour.
"Who reported the case?" Chen Xiao looked at Liu Dayou, who then looked at a policeman behind him.
"Advisor Chen, the text alert was sent from Ye Jun's phone."
Chen Xiao was somewhat surprised: "So, it was the killer who reported it?"
"It seems so." The policeman nodded and then explained: "The local precinct acted immediately upon receiving the report, and the message clearly stated to notify our task force at once, coinciding with the time we contacted the local precinct."
Upon hearing this, Qin Fei sneered: "Specifically named to bring our task force over, and with such precise timing, it seems he's directly telling us the adversary has changed!"
"Indeed, the adversary has changed, but the offense and defense haven't swapped yet," Sun Zhou replied in a low tone.
Chen Xiao didn't say anything at that moment, merely observing Ye Jun's fatal wound and the crime scene before pondering deeply.
Not many signs of struggle at the scene, though some traces existed.
The footprints were indistinct, and the ground was hard, offering little help to Chen Xiao.
As for other traces, they hadn't been professionally examined yet, but presumably wouldn't yield any.
After contemplating, Chen Xiao's gaze ultimately settled on the traces of struggle where Ye Jun's body lay sprawling.
He found the traces of struggle here very peculiar.
Because they could be easily overlooked.
From the scuff marks made by footprints, it was clear Ye Jun felt threatened before his death.
Thus, he began to resist.
But his resistance seemed to end as soon as it started.
It could even be seen that the person trying to kill him wasn't exactly matching up, as Ye Jun seemed to retreat less than the opponent.
It was unfortunate Cao Xiuyuan, proficient in trace discovery and analysis, wasn't present; otherwise, Chen Xiao would have someone to consult.
However, Qin Fei had noticed his expression long before, and seeing Chen Xiao crouch to scrutinize the few traces, he inquired:
"Aren't these traces odd? It seems the opponent initially wasn't Ye Jun's match, yet Ye Jun ended up stabbed to death by him."
"The traces seem to indicate that, but considering the blood spatter patterns, don't you feel there's a bigger issue?"
While Qin Fei wasn't exactly an expert in trace analysis, as a detective he understood this science to some extent, so after observing he muttered:
"Hmm, indeed it's not quite right; Ye Jun clearly resisted, so how did he end up resigned when being fatally stabbed?"
"Exactly, the blood patterns and the struggle marks seem to tell us Ye Jun chose not to resist in the end," Chen Xiao stated, and Qin Fei furrowed his brow in contemplation.
Yet their thinking didn't last long before resuming the discussion:
"Ye Jun requested leave first thing tonight, indicating he planned to meet the killer tonight. It's just that he didn't anticipate the person he was meeting would attack him!"
Qin Fei spoke first, and Chen Xiao continued according to his narrative: "Then the killer revealed his intention, prepared to attack Ye Jun. Ye Jun began to fight back in astonishment, but eventually gave up resistance. The attacker didn't taunt or humiliate, just decisively delivered a fatal stab."
Saying this, Chen Xiao looked at Qin Fei again and further inquired: "Do you think these actions highlight the inner worlds of the killer and Ye Jun at that moment?"
"Let's discuss the killer first, his method was very decisive. In murder cases, generally swift and succinct killings suggest this possibility...."
"First: the killer's intent was direct—to kill the target and leave—which aligns with our speculation on the real killer of Ye Jun."
"Second: his goal remained killing Ye Jun, but obvious disputes were present at the scene. Logically, under dispute, such a scenario wouldn't occur, so could this imply the killer was fearful? Yet considering various aspects, how could he be scared? He remains the most probable true culprit behind the curtain!"
"Could it be that the person wielding the knife found a new blade?"
When Qin Fei just proposed this hypothesis, Chen Xiao shook his head resolutely: "No, in a mess like this, seeking a new blade would mean starting over repeatedly, a situation harmful and unbeneficial to them."
"Then what's the reason? Ample composure? Or in his inner world, Ye Jun was merely a tool for him. Useless, so simply killed and hence he walked away briskly?"
This possibility made Qin Fei's eyes noticeably brighter.
Because such a conjecture matched many of the task force's previous reasoning conditions.
However, Chen Xiao uttered deeply after examining the traces again: "Could it be opposite to what you said?"
"Completely opposite? How?" Qin Fei was baffled.
Chen Xiao didn't immediately elucidate but instead called Qin Fei and Sun Zhou to a spot ten meters from the body.
"Look here, this is clearly where the killer left; there are traces of footprints moving away. Yet look, what's unusual about his steps?"
Qin Fei observed for a moment, answering: "Initially his steps were big, but the pace seems to have shrunk?"
"It did shrink," Sun Zhou confirmed.
"Then why did his steps shrink?" Chen Xiao asked.
Qin Fei furrowed his brow, but Chen Xiao didn't wait for their reply, his eyes already intense:
"Perhaps initially wanting to leave quickly, but with every step he took, began hesitating, experiencing different emotions. These led to his steps shrinking, or slowing down; furthermore, before this final step...do you see any pivot indications?"
"Pivot indications?" Sun Zhou mumbled, and Qin Fei's eyes widened:
"He looked back!"
