The case of Yuan Keyu’s murder.

Chen Xiao obtained quite a bit of information from Cao Xiuyuan.

But that information was merely that and didn’t provide much help in solving the case.

Thus, Chen Xiao had long made up his mind that for more information on the case, he needed to verify things bit by bit himself.

Only the things he discovers himself are the most reliable.

When Sang Yupeng heard Chen Xiao inquire like this, his expression was quite strange:

"Didn’t the officers already go to the school to find my son? My son knows nothing about these matters either. It’s my fault; seeing Mr. Yuan back then made me think of gaining some advantage, but who could have thought he would encounter such a thing!"

"Do you know what the officers asked him about?"

Sang Yupeng shook his head: "I don’t know, and my son is now a senior in high school, rarely coming home, always studying diligently at school."

Saying this, Sang Yupeng also worriedly entrusted them:

"Advisor Chen, Captain Qin, I also want to trouble you with this. My child is a high school senior, a crucial stage in life, and he is just a child who knows nothing. So, could the police try not to approach him as much as possible?"

"I’m worried that it would greatly impact his studies!"

Understanding a parent’s heart, Chen Xiao could very much relate.

If he were Sang Yupeng, he would also be distressed by his predicament. Especially with a senior high school student at home facing a crucial time in life, he would be even less willing for the police to keep questioning him.

"We will do our best, and rest assured, Mr. Sang, even if we ask him questions, we’ll choose a time outside of his academic hours."

Sang Yupeng smiled and nodded.

Chen Xiao looked through those lists again, and then informed Sang Yupeng that he had inquired about all necessary matters.

Upon hearing this, the latter found an excuse to leave first.

Once he left, Qin Fei proactively said:

"The people on this list should be questioned thoroughly."

After thinking briefly, Chen Xiao shook his head and said:

"I think questioning these people can wait."

Qin Fei was quite perplexed.

The reason the crime scene was renovated and equipped with surveillance was due to a fire.

The fire was caused by deliberate arson.

The effects of a fire are well-known even to ordinary people; in such a low-rent area, if there were anyone inside, it would definitely be fatal or cause severe injury.

Linking to Yuan Keyu’s stripped skin, Qin Fei felt injured individuals must be thoroughly questioned.

However, Chen Xiao opposed, and Qin Fei did not rush to voice his thoughts but waited for Chen Xiao’s explanation.

Soon, Chen Xiao sorted through his thoughts and replied:

"This list is the last we see, so those affected must have already been questioned. There’s likely no big issue here, and if we inquire, we might not gain anything special."

Upon Chen Xiao’s words, Qin Fei felt a headache:

"You’re right; this case feels full of issues, yet there’s no way to resolve them."

Saying this, Qin Fei brought up Sang Xiaoming again: "But Sang Yupeng’s son was also questioned; is the landlord line to be set aside?"

Initially, Chen Xiao intended to focus primarily on Sang Xiaoming.

Because from Sang Yupeng’s words, Chen Xiao could affirm Yuan Keyu had contact with Sang Xiaoming.

And a mysterious tenant, under normal circumstances, even with the landlord’s request, wouldn’t likely meet the landlord’s child on the rental day.

Besides, Yuan Keyu coming here was surely with something to accomplish.

Thus, considering all this, there was no reason for Yuan Keyu to meet Sang Xiaoming.

Thinking here, Chen Xiao spoke: "Are we missing anyone?"

"Including Sang Yupeng’s son, who else could be overlooked?"

"Don’t rush, let’s go over it again. I’ll ask, you answer." Chen Xiao said, and without waiting for Qin Fei’s response, he started directly:

"Yuan Keyu came to Xiaozhuang South Town without staying and directly found Sang Yupeng to rent a house. What does this show?"

Qin Fei: "It shows he had an accurate target location when deciding to come to Xiaozhuang South Town."

"Why choose Sang Yupeng’s house? And being a new tenant, on the first day of renting Sang Yupeng’s house, he met Sang Yupeng’s son?"

"He could have promised Sang Yupeng to occasionally tutor high school senior Sang Xiaoming in his spare time; why particularly the first day?"

"Didn’t Yuan Keyu come to Xiaozhuang South Town secretly for someone or something?"

After Chen Xiao finished speaking, Qin Fei’s eyes widened:

"So, the person Yuan Keyu wants to meet might be Sang Xiaoming!"

Chen Xiao didn’t respond immediately but gestured for Qin Fei to stay calm.

"Not necessarily Sang Xiaoming but possibly related to him."

"We need to focus on questioning Sang Xiaoming."

"But as mentioned, the special task group has been ahead of us in questioning. From Captain Cao and also from the expressions of the task group agents we saw at the office, there’s no sign of relaxation."

"From this, we can deduce the task group hasn’t gained any valuable information from Sang Xiaoming either."

"Within the task group, there’s Cao Xiuyuan experienced in trace inspections, Director Chang, the province’s most renowned forensic expert, and Captain Sun from Jingzhou City Bureau specializing in interrogation and criminal questioning."

"So, do you think our questioning of Sang Xiaoming can be more insightful than Captain Sun’s approach? I think not!"

After saying this, Chen Xiao paused, squinting: "Captain Qin, we officially only know Captain Cao from the task group, as for others, they utterly ignored our presence. And many contents of the case, we actually haven’t acquired comprehensively."

"Thus, we can utilize their expressions for saving time costs. Sang Xiaoming is important, but the significant part shouldn’t be Sang Xiaoming himself. What we need now is to sort through his interpersonal relationships."

Listening to Chen Xiao’s words, Qin Fei’s mind too sparked with inspiration:

"If analyzing from Sang Xiaoming’s interpersonal connections, we find someone matching with facial skin, scalp, facial features, and other factors, this person becomes extremely crucial to the case!"

Chen Xiao immediately snapped his fingers toward Qin Fei:

"That’s the correct approach. The perpetrator, after killing Yuan Keyu, didn’t just strip his skin but also shaved and took away his hair; there must be a directive behind this."

Qin Fei nodded: "Alright, I’ll handle organizing relationships and then proceed to respective visits and investigations. Besides family, the largest circle would be within school, so this person won’t be hard to find!"

Chen Xiao nodded.

While looking out the window, Chen Xiao quietly said:

"Honestly, I’d really like to personally meet the deceased Yuan Keyu’s family and the person inviting him back to serve!"
