Chapter 98: Chapter 98: Stop, Stop

If Ling Qianjun went out in his bloodstained ancient garments, he would undoubtedly draw the most stares in the small town. People might even take photos of him and post them on Moments or the internet. His messy, waist-length hair also needed to be dealt with—any man walking down the street with hair that long would automatically warrant a second glance.

Most of the clothes in the house were her own, as her grandparents’ belongings had been cleared out after they passed away. However, she had a habit of buying plus-size men’s clothes to wear as pajamas, and there were a few washed but unworn pieces that would be perfect for Ling Qianjun to wear outside. They were just simple white and black shirts paired with elastic-waist shorts.

Why deliberately buy men’s clothes? Hua Buwan had discovered while shopping that the sizing in many women’s clothing stores ran incredibly small. Even the largest sizes were only meant to fit an average-sized person, making them feel far too restrictive for sleepwear. Fortunately, she later realized she could just buy men’s clothes instead and started placing orders. Sometimes, when she saw how tiny and narrow women’s tops were, she assumed they were meant for elementary school students. The sizing was truly baffling.

Ling Qianjun followed Hua Buwan up to the second floor. He watched her rummage through a wardrobe before pulling out a white shirt and a pair of black shorts.

"Try this on and see if it fits," she said, handing them to him. "You can go change on the first floor. Just leave your old clothes down there."

Although his ancient clothes had been washed before, the bloodstains hadn’t come out. Luckily, she had recently ordered a bottle of laundry detergent specifically formulated to remove blood. She figured she could soak his clothes later, wash and dry them when they got back, and let him wear them again.

"Mhm," Ling Qianjun replied, taking the clothes and heading downstairs.

Hua Buwan watched him descend the stairs before closing her bedroom door. She needed to change her outfit as well.

Down in the first-floor bathroom, Ling Qianjun stripped off his garments and studied the clothes Hua Buwan had given him. Despite his internal resistance to the short sleeves and shorts, he figured out how to put them on, having seen her wear similar styles before.

Yet, the moment he pulled the clothes on, everything felt entirely wrong.

The shirt and shorts were so thin and breathable that his exposed arms and legs felt chilly. And... did people in Hua Buwan’s world not wear underpants? Wearing just a pair of shorts felt no different than walking out into the streets in his undergarments. His package was just dangling free. It felt a bit drafty.

Still, it was all within the realm of acceptability. Carrying his discarded ancient clothes, Ling Qianjun stepped out of the bathroom.

By this time, Hua Buwan had already finished changing and combing her hair, and was making her way downstairs. Since they were pressed for time, she had gone for maximum efficiency, throwing on a simple beige dress and pulling her hair up into a ponytail. She still had her flip-flops on and had no intention of changing them. After all, here in Lingnan, everyone wore flip-flops out of the house.

Coming off the staircase, Hua Buwan crossed paths with Ling Qianjun.

Seeing his new outfit, she froze for a moment. The long hair really did look wildly out of place with the modern clothes. Also... his legs were so slender and fair, though they were quite hairy. She recalled hearing that men with thick leg hair were exceptionally potent in bed, and wondered if it was true. Ahem, her mind was wandering into the gutter. She needed to stop that train of thought.

However, with just a quick glance, Hua Buwan noticed something very wrong. There seemed to be a distinct bulge beneath the fabric of his shorts.

Realizing what it meant, her face instantly flushed tomato red.
