Chapter 9: Chapter 9: If One Day I Become Very Rich

Whenever Miss Hua was mentioned, Hua Buwan immediately thought of the times she used to watch historical war dramas at home with her grandparents. The repetitive, mocking calls of "Miss Hua" in those shows were enough to make anyone grind their teeth in annoyance.

Lest Ling Qianjun misunderstand or overthink her reaction, Hua Buwan added, "Where I come from, Miss Hua isn’t exactly a good title, so please don’t call me that."

Ling Qianjun readily complied. "Miss Wan."

"Mm." Hua Buwan nodded in approval, feeling that this title was quite nice. She instantly immersed herself in the persona of an ancient noble lady.

"Then I’ll call you General Ling from now on," Hua Buwan said, changing how she addressed him as well. She couldn’t exactly just shout "Hey" every time she saw him in the future.

Ling Qianjun’s expression darkened slightly. "Just call me Qianjun," he said in a low voice. "I am no longer a General anyway."

Remembering that he had been exiled, Hua Buwan agreed. "Alright then, I’ll call you Qianjun from now on, and you can just call me Buwan. We can consider ourselves friends from here on out."

"Alright." Ling Qianjun offered a gentle smile.

Considering it was getting late and his mother and younger sister were still waiting for him in the woods, he knew he couldn’t afford to delay here for too long. Therefore, Ling Qianjun stood up and said, "I should go back now. Since I can come back again in the future, I’ll just exchange for some water and food first. That way, we won’t attract too much attention when we hit the road tomorrow morning."

Hua Buwan naturally agreed, quickly standing up to help him gather the items.

Unexpectedly, Ling Qianjun rummaged around his waistband for a moment, pulling out a Jade Pendant and a gold ingot. He placed them on the counter. "Buwan, take a look and see how much these can exchange for."

Seeing that gold ingot, Hua Buwan subconsciously gulped. Her mind was entirely occupied by the lyrics of a popular pop song looping in her head: *If one day I become very rich~ very rich~*

"They can exchange for a lot. Feel free to browse and pick whatever you want. You still have plenty of money left over from the Gold Leaf you gave me earlier, and I’ve kept a record of it for you." As Hua Buwan spoke, she picked up the gold ingot, unable to bear putting it down as she examined it. It was heavy—much heavier than the Gold Leaf. Moreover, Hua Buwan deliberately checked the surface and found a stamped seal. This made it even more valuable; it was undeniably another thousand-year-old antique.

Then she looked at the Jade Pendant. It was flawlessly white, exuding a warm glow through its smooth luster. Even though she wasn’t an expert at evaluating jade and jewelry, she knew this piece was likely even more valuable than the gold ingot. As the saying went: gold has a price, but jade is priceless.

Ling Qianjun had been paying attention to Hua Buwan’s expression. Seeing her smiling so widely that her eyes curved like crescent moons, he knew these two items would fetch quite a bounty.

He walked over to the bottled water section. There were four people in his family, so he grabbed eight small bottles of mineral water. That way, each person could hide two bottles in their sleeves to drink during breaks, and it wouldn’t be too heavy to carry.

Hua Buwan put away the Jade Pendant and the gold ingot—though in reality, she simply tossed them into her dimensional space—and turned to walk over to the shelves to introduce items to Ling Qianjun.

"These are milk tablets. The milk flavor is very rich. Your younger brother and sister might like them, and they can also provide supplementary nutrition."

Ling Qianjun reached out and took four blister packs, planning to let the whole family try them.

"These are high-energy ration bars. One block is equivalent to a full meal, making them perfect for long-distance treks. There are even oat-flavored ones here."

Ling Qianjun silently took a few blocks, committing the appearance of the ration bars to memory in case he needed them in the future.

After selecting quite a few lightweight and portable food items, Ling Qianjun paused in his steps. He pursed his lips, asking with a hint of embarrassment, "Buwan, does your grocery store sell men... menstrual belts? It’s what girls need to use every month... My... my mother and sister both need to use them... I..."

"Oh, you mean sanitary pads? Do you want the ones with wings or without wings?" Hua Buwan seamlessly led him toward the feminine hygiene aisle.

Ling Qianjun was stunned. What? The menstrual belts a thousand years in the future actually came with wings? Were they trying to fly into the heavens?
