Chapter 87: Chapter 87: She Asked About the Dress, He Answered About the Person

Upon returning to the supermarket, Hua Buwan went straight to the second floor to change her clothes.

Thinking she should wear something that aligned with ancient aesthetics, inspiration struck. She remembered a traditional-style dress given to her by her old college roommate, who had been obsessed with anime culture. Because the skirt was embroidered with koi fish, her roommate had gifted it to her upon graduation, wishing her a future surrounded by good luck—just like a koi!

Of course, the roommate had also given Chen Jingjing and the others traditional dresses of various styles. They had even taken a group photo together in their ancient-style outfits for graduation.

However, after entering the workforce as a corporate drone, dealing with her grandparents’ affairs, and eventually running the supermarket... Hua Buwan had rarely worn that dress. Still, she had kept it carefully stored in her room and later moved it into her system’s spatial storage.

She didn’t plan on telling Ling Qianjun about the system space, nor was it necessary. It was her secret, her trump card. She wouldn’t tell anyone. Otherwise, she could have simply found a random spot in the woods to pull the dress out and change.

Thus, she went up to the second floor to retrieve the dress from her space and put it on.

After getting dressed, Hua Buwan did a quick, simple styling of her hair. She twirled twice in front of the mirror and nodded in satisfaction. "Not bad, Hua Buwan. You’re the prettiest."

After tooting her own horn, she hurried downstairs—TAP TAP TAP. She couldn’t let Ling Qianjun wait too long.

Hearing the sound, Ling Qianjun immediately looked up at the staircase.

Unexpectedly, Hua Buwan crashed straight into his heart.

She wore a dazzling red pleated skirt. The color was like a burning flame, igniting a certain throbbing heart. The dress was embroidered with vivid koi fish. Under the illumination of the lights, the koi seemed to sway gently with her brisk steps, as if they had come alive.

Her hair was combed into an exquisite bun adorned with sparkling ruby accessories. The gems shone brilliantly, perfectly blending with her red dress and bringing out the best in each other.

(Hua Buwan: They aren’t rubies! They’re crystal accessories bought from a two-dollar store! They might even be made of plastic! ⁄(⁄⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄⁄)⁄)

But ancient people had absolutely no idea what plastic was. They truly treasured such bling-bling items.

Hua Buwan walked down the stairs, stopping in front of Ling Qianjun. With a shy smile, she asked, "Does it look good?"

She was asking about the dress.

Ling Qianjun nodded bashfully, his gaze entirely fixed on her. "It looks beautiful."

He was answering about the person.

"Hehe." Fully satisfied, Hua Buwan urged him forward. "Come on, let’s hurry back. We quietly ran back here again; your family is probably starting to let their imaginations run wild."

"Yes," Ling Qianjun agreed readily, even quickening his pace.

For the third time, neither of them felt awkward.

Hua Buwan wrapped her arms around herself, and Ling Qianjun wrapped his arms around her as they traveled across a millennium together.

Dongxuan Country.

Xu Panqing, Ling Qianfan, and Ling Yunge were sitting by the campfire, exchanging bewildered glances.

Skewered fish and crabs were stuck into the ground next to the flames. The three didn’t dare to eat them, but fearing the food would taste bad if it went cold, they left the branches near the fire to keep them warm.

Xu Panqing was the first to speak. "You guys saw her too, right? That girl."

"That must be the Demon Shopkeeper Qianjun mentioned," Ling Qianfan chimed in. "Judging by her clothes, it couldn’t be anyone else but a demon."

Xu Panqing and Ling Yunge nodded in unanimous agreement.

"Why would a demon come here with Qianjun?" Ling Yunge asked in disbelief. "Is she trying to rescue the crabs? Are the crabs actually her relatives? Crab demons?!"

With their minds blown by this new possibility, Xu Panqing and Ling Qianfan drew a sharp breath.

They had actually roasted a demon’s relatives!
