Chapter 82: Hua Buwan’s Hand Is Gone
Chapter 82: Chapter 82: Hua Buwan’s Hand Is Gone
Hua Buwan’s heart skipped a beat. She felt that the ancestor standing before her was even better looking than any A-list celebrity she had ever seen. Ling Qianjun must have been considered one of the most handsome men in Dongxuan Country.
"If there’s nothing else, I’ll head back first. My family is still waiting for my answer, and it wouldn’t be right to keep them waiting too long," Ling Qianjun said, seeing that they had cleared the air.
"Mhm, go back quickly. Don’t let them worry." Hua Buwan didn’t ask him to stay. She realized she had been far too idealistic; his family was in exile, so how could they possibly have the luxury to raise crabs? She had been completely wrong and needed to reflect on herself.
The ancestors’ situation was much more difficult than she had imagined. She couldn’t just do things based on her own perspective or act on sudden whims that were completely disconnected from their reality. Alas, neither she nor Ling Qianjun could travel to each other’s worlds; they could only trade within the supermarket. She really wanted to be like the female protagonists in time-travel novels and visit ancient times. As for those tiny crabs, eating them would be fine too, since they could provide some much-needed nutrition.
"Alright, rest early then," Ling Qianjun said with a smile before turning toward the back door.
Hua Buwan followed closely behind him, intending to see him off. Hearing her footsteps, Ling Qianjun slowed his pace. She quickly caught up and walked right behind him.
Ling Qianjun reached out and pushed the back door open. He turned slightly and waved at her. "See you tomorrow, Buwan."
Hua Buwan stopped in her tracks and waved back. "See you tomorrow."
Only then did Ling Qianjun turn his head and walk through the door. Hua Buwan wanted to take a step forward to get a clearer look at the exact boundary where he disappeared. But the moment her foot landed, she slipped! There was sand on the floor, and she lost her footing, lunging straight toward Ling Qianjun’s back.
"AH! Help!" Anticipating a nasty face-plant, Hua Buwan closed her eyes in despair. However, her hands were still reaching out in a desperate plea for help toward the spot where Ling Qianjun had vanished.
After a long moment, the expected pain of embracing the floor never came. Instead, a warm sensation wrapped around her wrists.
It was Ling Qianjun!
Hua Buwan opened her eyes to look, only to be scared out of her wits. "AH!"
Her wrists and hands had vanished into thin air!
Only her forearms remained suspended in mid-air. Where were her hands? Where were they?! She could clearly feel the warmth on her wrists, so how could they be gone!
Barely managing to steady herself, Hua Buwan looked down and realized that the sand on the floor had come from the nearby gunny sacks. It must have stuck to them when they were placed on the ground during the harvest. Later, when she dragged the sacks over, the sand had fallen off, causing her to slip.
But that wasn’t the point right now. The point was, where were her hands?
Hua Buwan tried to step back, but she couldn’t! It was as if there was an invisible barrier at the back door, and her hands were stuck in it!
She tried to feel for her hands and wiggled her fingers. She could feel them! Her hands were still there! She just couldn’t see them!
SOB! What was she supposed to do now? Was she just going to be stuck here at the back door? She couldn’t go forward, and she couldn’t pull back either!
Meanwhile, on the other side.
Just as Ling Qianjun stepped through the back door, he heard Hua Buwan’s scream. He immediately turned around and saw her falling forward. Without hesitation, he reached out and grabbed her wrists to steady her.
However, in the instant he turned, he realized he could only see a pair of hands suspended in mid-air, right up to the wrists. Hua Buwan herself was nowhere to be seen!
Moreover, he had already returned to Dongxuan Country! He was standing right in the woods!
Shock coursed through him!
