After seeing Ling Qianjun off, Hua Buwan was not in the mood for a shower. Her stomach was still bulging, so full she felt stuffed up to her throat.

So, she decided to play on her phone!

Realizing she hadn’t checked Moments in a while, and having nothing better to do anyway, she scrolled through her feed from top to bottom.

For people her age, their Moments feeds generally consisted of: 1. showing off their boyfriends or girlfriends; 2. flaunting marriage certificates; 3. posting pictures of babies; 4. selling products on WeChat; 5. traveling with friends; 6. eating, drinking, and posting concert clips; 7. enjoying happy family times; 8. walking dogs or teasing cats; 9. complaining about overtime, marriage, or relationships... and 10. showing off their workouts and figures.

She did not know when it started, but Moments seemed to have lost its innocence.

In the beginning, people used the platform to genuinely share their daily lives, but over time, it became less and less sincere. Many people posted just to get likes, purely to put on a show for others.

Years ago, Hua Buwan used to love posting on Moments too. But after realizing that some people would judge and gossip about her posts, she rarely updated anymore. Even when she did, she restricted visibility to only last three days.

"Sigh." Scrolling through other people’s lives, she let out a silent sigh.

Suddenly, she came across a post from her college roommate, Chen Jingjing.

[It’s Chen Jingjing (Heart): Going back to Sea City for two days. Anyone free to hang out? (Shy)]

The timestamp showed it was posted a minute ago. Was Jingjing already in Sea City, or was she arriving tomorrow?

Hua Buwan liked the post first, then opened a private chat with Chen Jingjing.

[Hua Buwan: Calling the beautiful Jingjing! Are you arriving in Sea City today or tomorrow? I’m settled down here now.]

The four of them in their college dorm used to get along incredibly well and kept in frequent contact after graduation. However, one day, Chen Jingjing’s phone contracted a virus and spammed their four-person group chat with a bunch of explicit, unspeakable content. Chen Jingjing practically died of embarrassment, and while the other three laughed like maniacs for days, their regular chats slowly faded out.

They had all just been waiting for Chen Jingjing to recover from the trauma.

Chen Jingjing had just posted on Moments and happened to have her phone in her hand. The moment Hua Buwan messaged her, she excitedly replied in seconds.

[Chen Jingjing: Sob, sob, sis! Long time no see, I’ve missed you so much! I guessed you were still in Sea City. I’m actually coming over tomorrow with my parents for a wedding banquet. Want to hang out?]

[Chen Jingjing: I also really miss the other two divine beasts from our dorm. I wonder how they’re doing?]

Hearing Chen Jingjing’s playful words, Hua Buwan also felt nostalgic for the good old days of college.

Their dorm group chat was named "Four Great Divine Beasts." It got this name because they all came from Lingnan, yet each hailed from a city positioned roughly in the east, south, west, or north.

Hua Buwan was from Sea City in the south, so her dorm code name was Vermilion Bird.

Chen Jingjing was from Gaoliang City toward the west, so her code name was White Tiger—and true to the name, she really did have a fierce, tiger-like personality.

[Hua Buwan: I haven’t chatted with them in a long time either. No time like the present, let’s start a group chat today!]

Seeing Chen Jingjing’s lively tone, Hua Buwan figured she had finally gotten over her embarrassing hurdle, so she made the suggestion.

Chen Jingjing replied instantly: [Yes! Let’s go, go, go!]

Soon, the "Four Great Divine Beasts" group chat showed 99+ unread messages.

They chatted until midnight, when the other two finally said they needed to sleep because they had to be corporate drones tomorrow.

Reluctant to part, Hua Buwan and Chen Jingjing typed out lyrics to sing them off: "I send you away, a thousand miles away~"

In response, they received two eye-roll emojis from the other two.

At that point, Chen Jingjing said she had to sleep too, since she needed to wake up early tomorrow to head to Sea City. Before going to bed, though, she brought something up.

[Buwan, the longans from our Gaoliang City are so big and delicious. Should I bring you some as a souvenir? And then you can show me a good time over the next two days?]

As she sent the message, Chen Jingjing also attached a picture of the fruit.
