Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Mistaking the Toilet for a Water Well

Hua Buwan, no matter how groggy she was, realized she wasn’t hallucinating; that person really was going in and out continuously.

She wondered if he was just playing around.

Hua Buwan walked briskly to the back door, waiting for Ling Qianjun to enter again so she could have a word with him. Unexpectedly, she waited for quite a while without seeing a single soul. She wished she could open the door and travel back a thousand years, but she had already tried earlier. Opening it only led to the bathroom; time travel was impossible for her.

Thinking of the bathroom suddenly brought on the urge to go. Not caring about anything else, she pushed open the bathroom door and lifted the toilet seat.

SPLASH, DRIP DROP. It was the feeling of release, the feeling of freedom. A relaxed smile spread across Hua Buwan’s face.

But the very next second, her smile vanished.

Because... damn it, Ling Qianjun had appeared out of thin air at the bathroom door like a ghost!

"AH!" After all, she was a woman. With a grown man appearing at her bathroom door, no matter how strong her psychological fortitude was, she couldn’t control her primal instincts and screamed.

Ling Qianjun had just finished testing the portal with Ling Yunge and Xu Panqing. Knowing his mother and sister couldn’t enter, he pushed the door open and proceeded alone. Before he could even step inside, he heard a woman’s piercing scream that echoed to the heavens. Startled, he jumped, his body twitching as he quickly assumed a defensive stance and prepared to turn around.

Hua Buwan snapped back to her senses. Seeing his reaction, she immediately yelled, "Don’t turn around! Don’t turn around! If you dare turn around, I won’t sell you anything!"

Hearing this, Ling Qianjun remembered: this was the Demon Shopkeeper’s voice. Therefore, he obediently kept his head turned away and stood frozen in place. He absolutely could not offend the shopkeeper.

Hua Buwan was so frantic her throat felt on fire, and sweat poured down her forehead. Fortunately, the man was obedient enough not to look back. Not daring to delay any further, Hua Buwan hastily wiped herself, pulled up her pants, stood up, and pressed the flush button.

WHOOSH! GURGLE GURGLE!

Ling Qianjun didn’t know what was happening behind him, but his ears perked up in curiosity.

Hua Buwan grabbed a tissue, quickly wiped the sweat from her forehead, and let out a heavy breath before saying seriously, "Alright, you can turn around now."

Upon hearing this, Ling Qianjun slowly turned to look at Hua Buwan. His gaze then fell upon the flush toilet.

"A water well? Shopkeeper, you dug a well in here?" Ling Qianjun swallowed hard while staring at the toilet. He thought to himself that it was no wonder the shopkeeper had so much water to sell; she actually had a well right inside the shop.

Hua Buwan looked first at Ling Qianjun, then at the flush toilet he had mistaken for a well. Her lips twitched as she patiently explained, "This is a toilet, not a water well."

For someone from a thousand years ago, such a misunderstanding was completely normal. At present, she only knew his name through the system. She had no idea what he did a millennium ago or how he had ended up in such a wretched state. If he was a beggar, his stature, demeanor, and behavior certainly didn’t look the part. She wondered if he was a refugee in distress, someone being hunted down, or an exile banished to Ningguta or Lingnan.

She felt it was necessary to investigate a bit, as this would also facilitate their trading.

"Let’s go outside before we talk," Hua Buwan said, stepping out of the bathroom.

Ling Qianjun took one last deep look at the toilet, his expression shifting several times. Just a moment ago, he had wanted to taste the well water to see if it was sweet. Fortunately, he hadn’t asked. Furthermore, he had finally figured it out. The shopkeeper must have just been sitting on that toilet when he walked in. Thank goodness he hadn’t turned his head earlier.

Ling Qianjun silently followed Hua Buwan out, his earlobes burning with a scorching red flush.
