Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Money Come, Money Come, Money Comes from All Directions

After some thought, Hua Buwan hurried out to an old lady’s intangible cultural heritage embroidery shop in the ancient town, buying an embroidered cloth bag to match her outfit.

The bag would be perfect for carrying her phone, some tissues, and the antiques Ling Qianjun had given her. Today was the day she would sell those antiques and make her money back!

Hua Buwan threw her arms open to the sky and chanted, "Money, come to me! Money from all directions, flow into my pockets!"

Her prayer for wealth complete, she prepared a nice lunch for herself. After finishing her meal early, she began doing her makeup while simultaneously downloading media onto Ling Qianjun’s new phone.

She was attending an important event today, so a touch of color was necessary, even though she usually preferred going bare-faced. Satisfied with her makeup, she moved on to styling her hair.

Once dressed, she twirled in front of the large bathroom mirror and murmured to herself, "Magic mirror, magic mirror, do I look pretty today?"

Just as she was about to shower herself with compliments, a voice suddenly popped up from behind her. "You look beautiful."

Hua Buwan let out a terrified shriek and nearly tumbled backward into the toilet.

Ling Qianjun quickly reached out and grabbed her wrist to steady her.

"I’m sorry. I... I didn’t mean to scare you," he said guiltily, lowering his head.

His group had just marched another long distance and was resting after lunch, so he had taken the opportunity to come over and buy some food and water. Who would have thought that as soon as he opened the door, he would see Hua Buwan talking to the mirror? He had been so mesmerized by the sight that the response slipped out before he could stop it.

He was used to seeing her in shorts, a T-shirt, and flip-flops. This was his first time seeing her in a long dress. It resembled the styles from his dynasty, yet not entirely; the sleeves were short, the hem had a slit, and the skirt didn’t reach her ankles. However, the fabric and embroidery felt very familiar to the garments of his time. The only major difference was how form-fitting this dress was, perfectly accentuating her graceful figure. Just two glances were enough to make him blush.

He thought, "From afar, she is as bright as the sun rising in the morning clouds. Up close, she is as dazzling as a lotus emerging from the clear waves."

Buwan truly was beautiful.

Realizing it was Ling Qianjun, Hua Buwan finally calmed down. Her gaze dropped to his hand, which was still gripping her arm.

He hastily let go, flushing with embarrassment. "My apologies."

"It’s fine," she said, shrugging nonchalantly. "Oh, by the way, the phone I bought for you arrived. Let me show it to you. I’ll teach you how to use it while I’m at it."

She walked out of the bathroom, with Ling Qianjun following closely behind.

Taking the phone, Ling Qianjun admired it fondly, unable to put it down.

Hua Buwan had him sit down while she stayed by his side, teaching him how to play videos, take photos, record clips, and listen to music.

While downloading the media earlier, she figured that since she was already getting so much, she might as well add some music. She specifically chose traditional Chinese-style songs, many of which were adapted from classic poetry—such as the famous tune, "Do You Know, Do You Know."

Ling Qianjun didn’t dare let his attention wander; he learned in earnest. Fortunately, the functions were simple, and being naturally intelligent, he picked them up in no time. Hua Buwan even thoughtfully turned the volume for powering on, powering off, and the camera shutter all the way down to zero.

Soon, Ling Qianjun was entirely engrossed in watching the movies and TV dramas.

"This is clearly a divine miracle!"

"..."

Hua Buwan didn’t disturb him. She went to the side to put on her shoes and pack the items she needed to bring, readying herself to head out at any moment. Grandma Wen had said she would come pick her up at two in the afternoon, which was still about half an hour away.

Ling Qianjun wanted to keep watching, but he noticed Hua Buwan looking like she was about to leave. He paused the video and stood up to ask, "Are you heading out to meet someone?"

He wondered, "Could it be a man?"
