Chapter 47: Chapter 47: He Walked Out of the Flames

After helping Ling Qianjun stow his things in the stairwell, Hua Buwan grabbed her clothes to wash up. Afterward, she lay in bed, gleefully ordering an electric shaver, a smartphone, and other items for Ling Qianjun online.

Considering Ling Qianjun was from ancient times, Hua Buwan tried her best to choose a simple model with a good camera and large storage. That would be more than enough for him.

It wasn’t like he could make calls or surf the internet anyway. He would just be downloading things to watch and taking pictures during his exile.

After placing the orders, however, Hua Buwan tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep. Whenever she closed her eyes, she thought about how her bank account would soon have an extra six hundred million. She imagined getting the money, rolling around on a bed paved with cash, and relishing the scent of wealth.

Consequently, she gloriously pulled an all-nighter.

Unable to sleep, she simply started searching for various educational videos, planning to make a list. Once she organized it, she could immediately download them for Ling Qianjun as soon as the phone arrived. Remembering that he also had a mother, a younger brother, and a younger sister, she decided to take it a step further and compiled a list of TV dramas and cartoons suitable for the three of them as well.

Just as she was engrossed in her search, a sudden BANG! erupted from the first floor, accompanied by the automated chime, "Welcome."

"COUGH! COUGH COUGH!" Ling Qianjun brought in a cloud of thick smoke the moment he stepped through the Any Door. He hacked violently in discomfort.

Hearing the commotion, Hua Buwan sprang out of bed and tossed her phone aside. She bounded down the stairs, her feet going PATTER PATTER PATTER. To her surprise, she was greeted by the harsh, suffocating stench of thick smoke. She immediately coughed a few times and raised a hand to cover her mouth and nose.

Ling Qianjun didn’t dare delay for a second. He quickly stepped forward and tightly grasped Hua Buwan’s wrist. "Buwan, the inn we’re staying at is on fire!" he said anxiously. "Do you have anything here that can help? We are trapped in our second-floor room and can’t get out."

He stared intently at Hua Buwan’s face, his heart pounding wildly. If she didn’t have anything useful here either, he would have no choice but to take a desperate gamble and jump out the window with his family.

Hua Buwan instantly snapped back to reality. Ignoring the thick smoke billowing from the Any Door, her mind raced. She then led Ling Qianjun to the side, picked up a fire extinguisher, and immediately explained and demonstrated how to use it.

Once she made sure Ling Qianjun understood, she shoved both of the fire extinguishers kept in the supermarket into his arms. There was also a bundle of fireproof escape rope nearby, which she looped over his hand. Finally, she swiftly pulled out four towels, soaked them in water, and handed them over. "Use these to cover your mouths and noses."

In the heat of the moment, Hua Buwan was a bit panicked and could only hand Ling Qianjun everything she could think of.

Ling Qianjun quickly opened the Any Door and returned to the inn. He immediately gave the other fire extinguisher to Ling Qianfan, instructing him to operate it just as he did.

Ling Qianfan bit down hard on his own arm to force himself to calm down, quickly memorizing what Qianjun taught him. He told himself, "This is what Qianjun got from the Demon. We will definitely be fine!"

Watching Ling Qianjun leave, Hua Buwan didn’t stop moving. She dragged out four large bathtubs and filled them with water one by one. She figured that if they really couldn’t force their way out, hiding in these might offer them a glimmer of hope for survival.

The only problem was that they were currently on the second floor. She feared the raging fire would burn until the floor collapsed, causing them to plummet. To counter this, she placed inflatable pads in each bathtub to act as shock absorbers, hoping to provide as much protection as possible.

She silently prayed in her heart, "Please let Ling Qianjun’s family be safe and sound!"
