Stockpiling for an Exiled General Through My Store's Back Door
Chapter 113: Shopping
Chapter 113: Chapter 113: Shopping
Once Ling Qianjun calmed down, he told Hua Buwan that they had arrived at a town earlier that day. Because of the events of the previous night, the government officers were much more lenient and agreed to let them go out to purchase supplies. However, each family was only allowed to send one person. Knowing how much she loved exploring ancient streets, he came to ask Hua Buwan if she wanted to stroll through town with him.
Naturally, he was the one chosen by the Ling family to handle the shopping. After heading out, Ling Qianjun had found a deserted alley around a corner and opened the Any Door to seek her out.
Upon hearing this, how could Hua Buwan possibly refuse? She immediately darted up to the second floor to change her clothes and fix her hair. Then, alongside Ling Qianjun, she set off for Dongxuan Country to explore streets from a thousand years in the past!
Hua Buwan wove excitedly through the bustling, ancient streets, her eyes darting everywhere. Street vendors lined the roads, their stalls overflowing with all sorts of bizarre and wonderful knickknacks, exquisite handicrafts, antique books, and snacks she had never seen before. She couldn’t resist stopping to look, curiously touching this and tapping that.
Suddenly, a mouthwatering aroma wafted through the air. Following the scent, Hua Buwan stumbled upon a lively restaurant. She desperately wanted to go inside! However, she suddenly realized she hadn’t brought any ancient currency—no silver or gold whatsoever.
Wait a minute. She still had the unsold items Ling Qianjun had given her earlier stored in her space. Using those would work too. While selling those items in the modern world would yield a much higher profit, she was more than willing to part with them for a taste of authentic ancient cuisine.
Ling Qianjun seemed to pick up on her thoughts. Fishing around in his sleeve, he pulled out two silver notes and handed them to her. "If you want to try it, let’s go inside. I still have silver notes."
Worried she might be reluctant to spend his money, he added, "Just treat it as an advance deposit. When I visit Huaxia Country, you can foot the bill for me."
Hua Buwan’s eyes lit up at the suggestion. That was a brilliant idea! Since Ling Qianjun could travel to the modern world now, she would just cover all his expenses whenever he went on a shopping spree! Relieved of her guilt, she happily followed him into the restaurant.
Inside, patrons were gathered around tables, savoring delicious dishes amid a lively hum of cheerful chatter and laughter. Hua Buwan found an empty table and sat down. With Ling Qianjun’s recommendations, she ordered a few signature dishes, practically buzzing with anticipation to taste ancient delicacies. After all, she had just woken up and hadn’t eaten a bite. Her stomach was completely empty! She was ready for a feast!
When the dishes arrived, Hua Buwan was utterly amazed by their exquisite presentation and incredible flavor. She took her time savoring each dish, fully immersing herself in the ancient culinary culture. Over the course of the meal, she caught snippets of fascinating conversations from the neighboring tables. She couldn’t help but prick up her ears, absorbing every detail to better understand ancient life. Sitting beside her, Ling Qianjun occasionally chimed in to provide additional context and explanations. Hua Buwan listened with rapt attention.
After their meal, Hua Buwan resumed her stroll down the street. She soon spotted a shop selling fabrics and ready-made garments. Inside, the shelves were stacked with colorful textiles bearing beautifully intricate patterns. She walked in, picked out a few styles she liked, and bought them on the spot. After all, her wardrobe was sorely lacking in historical attire.
Originally, she had wanted to pick out some clothes for Ling Qianjun and his family as well, but he politely declined. He explained that on the road to exile, buying food, water, and items for self-defense took priority. Flashy things like new clothes were unnecessary for the time being.
Hua Buwan realized he had a point. In that case, once they finally arrived in Lingnan, she would definitely go on a massive shopping spree for them!
By now, a bold idea had begun to take root in Hua Buwan’s mind. Since she was now capable of traveling to the ancient era, couldn’t she and Ling Qianjun form a partnership to trade goods back and forth between their two worlds?
