Chapter 1646: Chapter 107: Fox and Mouse Game (17)_3

"Right, and then deploy soldiers recruited during the period I mentioned who are from Iron Peak County."

"Soldiers recruited before the Terdon Tribe invasion, now at least a sergeant."

Moritz just glanced at Luosong.

"I’ll take care of it," Luosong sighed.

"The matter I asked you to investigate?" Moritz asked.

Luosong’s expression became serious as he answered solemnly, "At least three people sent out messages—Lecco da Este, Pagani Doria, and Sandro de Bondona. There may be others I haven’t identified, but these three have conclusive evidence proving they sent word outside."

Upon hearing these three prestigious surnames, Moritz’s brow furrowed into a knot, "White Eagle, Black Sail, Iris, are they all Venetians?"

"Representatives of Flora, Nasriya, and the City of Flowers," Luosong said with a somber face, "None of them are inclined to movement."

He cautiously asked, "Otherwise, should we wait for Winters Montagne to return? See if he has any solutions?"

Moritz remained silent.

Meanwhile, in a basement room, Caman was engaged in a conversation with the Grand Judge.

"Based on your understanding of Winters Montagne," the Grand Judge asked, kneeling before a shrine without raising his head, "do you think he will keep his promises?"

Caman lowered his head, hesitated for a moment, and firmly replied, "Winters Montagne is a skeptic, rejecting commitments is instinctual for him, but once he agrees to something, he won’t betray it."

The Grand Judge pondered for a while, then put away his rosary, and Caman immediately stepped forward to help him.

After rising, the Grand Judge looked at Caman, his best student, and said, "Once this turmoil ends, many crowns will be vacant in the Paradu Archdiocese."

Caman said nothing.

"If you still wish to wear the red robes later, you should be controlling a diocese now."

"I..." Caman’s whole body tensed up, "The pastoral role does not suit me, sir."

"Is that so?" The Grand Judge didn’t say more, "Very well, you shall continue to stay beside Winters Montagne."

"Thank you, sir," Caman relaxed his spine, bowing deeply with his head lowered.

"Remember your training," the Grand Judge said gently, "but don’t forget who you are."

Elsewhere, in an elegant bedroom, "Sister Felt" and the four nuns who accompanied her sat around a four-poster bed, with curtains drawn, adding a touch of intimacy to the conversation.

"Are we really going to help Winters Montagne, Sister?" the youngest nun asked, blinking her big eyes, "I feel a bit scared, there are people from the Inquisition around him."

"Olia," Sister Felt countered, "Have you seen a living priest?"

The novice nun named Olia shook her head.

Sister Felt asked again, "If we encountered executioners from the Inquisition elsewhere, could we still be alive?"

The novice nun shook her head again.

Sister Felt looked at the other sisters, "What do you think?"

"In any other place," a slightly older nun said cautiously, "we would already be on the stake."

"But now we not only live, we can contact living priests, and can even have the chance to observe Divine Arts closely, an opportunity our predecessors wouldn’t even dare dream of," Sister Felt bit her lip thoughtfully, "Regardless of whether all this is truly as that bastard Winters Montagne claims—just a misunderstanding—even if it’s a trap, I’m willing to take the plunge."

-----------------

A hundred kilometers away, Winters Montagne sneezed.
