Chapter 2235: Chapter 2235: The New Holy Grail

The glow emanated from all the entities in that area, meaning all the entities were emitting a bright light. Miss Belindel, understanding the overall situation, first had those ordinary people leave. She instructed Miss Matilda to handle the people in the farm who knew about the matter, while she and Shard continued forward until they reached the outer edge of the glowing area in the shed and stopped:

"This looks more serious than the incidents in the city."

She softly incanted, first attempting to use powers like "Light-Extinguishing Spell" and "Dark Magic." After confirming they indeed had no effect, she threw two light-absorbing rune stones she crafted personally at the glow. These were alchemical items she made specifically to counter these unusual glows, based on the power she perceived when she was harmed.

But unfortunately, the rune stones absorbed some light in the first two seconds, then one exploded on the spot, with the fragments starting to glow, and the other melted into the light like ice encountering flame.

"The approach is correct, it’s just that ordinary materials can’t withstand this abnormal light. It seems even if stronger materials are found in the future, mass-producing such rune stones will be difficult."

The witch said softly, then nodded to Shard. Shard pulled a stack of cards from his pocket, found the one titled "Calamity Card: Shadow of the Deep," and placed the fingertip where a primal fire spark emerged onto the center of the card:

"Dark Magic!"

Instantly, it seemed as if a tear appeared in the space itself, with all the attached glow converging towards the card floating in the air.

Shard gently pushed forward, and the card floated towards the center of the glowing area. Its floating was not due to Shard exerting force but because it inherently had this effect. "Absorbing light" was merely an appearance; in reality, the card’s created darkness was continually neutralizing those abnormal glows.

"This card’s power is equally filthy and terrible."

Shard heard the witch muttering beside him, but he did not explain what that was.

Three minutes later, the intensity of the glowing area’s light had decreased to a sufficiently gentle level, resembling a divine item overflowing with miracle elements. Thereafter, the card’s "Dark Magic" could no longer continue suppressing the glow.

"Couldn’t completely return to normal? I remember the time we faced danger in Whisper Hills, your card completely suppressed the glow."

The witch asked curiously, Shard shook his head:

"That time it was the Guiding Light Hermitage’s Circle Sorcerer who artificially made the glow. This time it’s almost equivalent to a natural phenomenon, so my cards alone certainly can’t suppress it."

Of course, if Shard didn’t fear accelerating the apocalypse, causing the dark calamity to further spiral out of control, he could unleash the full power of the "Calamity Card: Shadow of the Deep" to obliterate these glows.

"Just relying on cards won’t work either."

Observing the situation, Shard shook his head again:

"Although it looks fine now, actually my card is still continuously releasing power to suppress the light. Once I retrieve it, the glow will reignite."

"You can’t completely eliminate this influence either?"

The witch asked again, Shard was about to shake his head but then had a new thought:

"I can try."

Saying this, he surprisingly continued forward, and Miss Belindel was too late to stop him, seeing him walk into the area still emitting a faint glow.

Pure white light immediately adhered to Shard’s body surface, or rather, he himself also glowed due to these special glows.

"Get out quickly!"

Unexpectedly, the witch reached out to him without hesitation, letting her right arm also enter the dangerous area to grab him:

"Whatever you’re trying, there’s no need to take risks yourself."

Saying this, she pulled Shard out, both looked at themselves. Shard’s body was still glowing, and the witch’s right hand was still glowing, but neither felt anything unusual.

[Outlander, you just entered a special "Photonic Zone." Because you possess sufficiently high light resistance yourself, these glows cannot assimilate your body.]

"So I can resist insufficiently strong unusual glows?"

[Yes.]

"Then what about Miss Belindel..."

[Her body was partially photonicized, but was reversed, also as the "Source of Chaos" is still within her body, she possesses partial resistance.]

This indeed was good news, Shard informed the witch of the information he obtained, and she was equally pleased:

"But how do you plan to solve it?"

Shard re-entered the area where the glow was currently being suppressed by the cards, gestured towards the ground beside him, and a clump of dirt flew from the normal area of the ground into his hand. The dirt immediately began glowing, Shard solemnly crumbled it, then pulled out some petals from his pocket, holding both together in his hands facing himself, sprinkling the soil and petals onto the ground beneath his feet.

Simultaneously, dense white steam mist appeared behind Shard with a scorching wind. The birthmark on the Witch’s forehead seemed to tremble slightly, and she immediately retreated to see the enormous Ring of Fate manifested wholly in the shed.

Shard softly spoke the name:

"Power of the Earth: Healing Aura!"

A little golden radiance emerged from Shard’s hands and scattered along with soil and petals. As the golden light-like seeds fell into the luminous earth beneath his feet, earth-colored spiritual energy instantly erupted like a fountain, finally suppressing the faint white glimmer.

Shard’s glowing body and the Ring of Fate behind him became brighter and brighter, yet this strange scene was void of any sound. The earth-colored spiritual light seemed to swallow the glimmers, and under Miss Belindel’s gaze, all the glimmers eventually merged under Shard’s feet. After the faint white light completely vanished, a golden Holy Grail emerged from the earth.

The Witch almost completely held her breath.

The Holy Grail emitted the same golden light, slowly floating before Shard. And when Shard grasped the cup, all anomalies fully dissipated.

The ancient runes engraved on this Holy Grail were "Source of Light," and its size was not large, roughly akin to the largest goblet in a tavern.

"Is this the Holy Grail of the Earth? So, during the Randall Valley incident, those ’Universal Earth Elixirs’ capable of reversing petrification made from the Holy Grail of the Earth were crafted with materials you provided."

Even knowing Shard’s great skill and suspecting he was likely a God Summoner, the ancient "Holy Grail of the Earth" could be artificially created, and furthermore, manufactured by reversing filth, was a surprise even to the Great Witch of Destiny:

"The Holy Grail of the Earth is born of the Earth’s filth; isn’t this peculiar Fate?"

The previously luminous area now only left traces of light almost indistinguishable to ordinary eyes; even at night, the remaining glimmer would just cause puzzlement that "this place seems slightly brighter than beside it." Thus she came over:

"But I don’t understand, your arcane technique that’s clearly purifying the earth, why can it also purify the glimmer?"

Shard chuckled:

"Because the [Earth] is the keystone."

Previously, on the shore of the Green Lake Central Island, he used the "Power of the Earth: Healing Aura" to purify part of the space mist, realizing more uses of this arcane technique:

"But look, the ground here is still luminous. Though my arcane technique purified most glimmer, some abnormal light remains. Fortunately, as long as you don’t stand here for days and nights, it won’t have an effect. The Power of the Earth: Healing Aura is effective but not specifically targeted at this, so the purification isn’t thorough."

"It’s already good, the Church of the Five Gods has yet to come up with a solution for such areas."

She laughed, placing a hand around Shard’s neck:

"Thank you, you have solved another big trouble for me."

With a natural half-shut of the eyes and a slight tremble of her eyelashes, she kissed Shard. A while later, separating, she covered her red lips and squinted at Shard:

"I meant to say before; your skills are really impressive."

Shard refused to reply to this question, lowered his head to the Holy Grail in his hands, and handed it to the lady before him:

"I’ll give this to you; its effect seems to be merely self-glow. See, it’s still luminescent now. Since it’s extracted from abnormal light into a Holy Grail, perhaps you could use it to divine the next area where abnormal light will appear."

"That’s hardly possible."

Accepting this gift, she inquired:

"Do you often gift after girls volunteer to kiss you? That’s truly a... silly and endearing gesture."

Shard wasn’t sure how she thought of these descriptors, but he still explained:

"No, I’m not like that... Through my creation, there are still only four existing Holy Grails, and the one in your hand is the fourth."

The first was the Token of Affection with Miss Galina, the "Chalice of Youth," the strongest Holy Grail Shard ever crafted—he didn’t fully digest the power of the Earth then; the second was the "Misty Holy Grail," currently in Shard’s pocket; the third was the "Spatial Mutated Holy Grail," obtained from the Green Lake Region with the land growing Seven-Color Mushrooms, in the Megan Sisters’ possession. They relied on this Holy Grail and Seven-Color Mushrooms to craft eye potions enabling users to see through spatial anomaly areas.

"That really is a precious gift."

The Countess nodded slightly, pursing her lips while gazing closely at Shard, who also looked at her. After a gentle chuckle reminded him, Shard turned to view the landscape outside the shed and asked the lady before him:

"Since we’re already out of town and have resolved the problem here, and today’s weather is quite nice, how about..."

"Sure!"

Not waiting for Shard to finish, she said this, seeing Shard’s slightly surprised look, she laughed again while holding his hand:

"What’s the matter, weren’t you planning to invite me out of town for a stroll and to see the scenery together? You even mentioned yesterday we should visit Moon Bay before they come, now’s a great opportunity."
