Steam Era: The Lord of 'Puluo'
Chapter 1437: Master (Part 2)
Qiu Zhiheng urged Cao Ye to walk a little faster. At the Three-Head Fork, Heavenly Light was dense, and Li Banfeng only had this one bottle of Snow Cream, unable to take care of everyone. Qiu Zhiheng had his own protective methods, but the safest protection was to minimize outdoor activities.
Cao Ye walked a couple of steps and was attracted by an herb.
Lu Yuanxin lowered his voice and said, “Uncle Qiu, you brought this girl out, does Aunt Zhuzi know about this?”
Qiu Zhiheng frowned and said, “You scoundrel, what nonsense are you thinking? This girl is like my own child, I’m bringing her out to learn some skills.”
Lu Yuanxin chuckled, “Uncle Qiu, your Taoist Sect doesn’t have other methods for cultivation. Without your wife around, what can you do?”
Qiu Zhiheng said, “I’ve reached a critical point, and right now, my wife really can’t be by my side.”
Lu Yuanxin was taken aback, “What critical point? Uncle Qiu, are you heading Above the Clouds?”
Qiu Zhiheng smiled silently, while Lu Yuanxin followed behind, continuously asking for cultivation insights.
When they reached the restaurant, Qiu Zhiheng smelled that familiar scent.
Lu Yuanxin didn’t care much, he found some insects on the ground, a kind that liked this scent immensely, stretching and writhing on the ground.
Qiu Zhiheng asked Lu Yuanxin, “Are there many of these insects?”
“Plenty, no matter where, it’s always these things that are abundant, their numbers always more than flies.”
Qiu Zhiheng fell into thought.
Lu Yuanxin reminded, “Uncle Qiu, don’t expect these insects to deal with Gold Cultivation, I’m telling you, when have you ever seen insects clean a toilet completely?”
Qiu Zhiheng shook his head, “No need to clean the toilet completely, just make a hole.”
“What does making a hole mean?”
Qiu Zhiheng said, “Just make a hole in the armor to truly hurt the person.”
Inside the restaurant, Qiu Zhiheng, Zuo Wugang, Lu Yuanxin, the Swearing Woman, and Bai Shoulian reconstructed the fierce battle from before.
The Swearing Woman said, “I think the hardest to deal with isn’t Golden Juice, it’s that Old Tan. As soon as he spits, he can trap us, making it difficult to attack him.”
Qiu Zhiheng shook his head slightly.
Bai Shoulian said, “I think the old lady has a point.”
Lu Yuanxin also nodded in agreement, “The elder does have a point. I actually have insects that can eat phlegm, but like I said, don’t expect insects to eat it all away.”
Qiu Zhiheng still shook his head, “Things haven’t touched on the main point. I once heard a master say, to pursue Dual Cultivation in three Taoist Sects, one’s cultivation level must be Above the Clouds. If a Cloud-level expert goes all out, Old Zuo might already be dead.
The reason Old Zuo is still alive is because this Cloud-level expert plays by the rules. The key lies here, why does a Cloud-level expert follow the rules of a rogue? Is there something deeper here?”
The Swearing Woman, despite not having high cultivation, had considerable knowledge: “Years ago, I also heard similar rumors. There were some Cloud-level experts who resorted to shady practices for cultivation. It’s like they’re relying on these methods to better themselves.”
Qiu Zhiheng nodded, “I’ve heard about this too. If Tan Jinxiao acts like a rogue for cultivation, then we might actually stand a chance.
Everyone, even though I might not be the oldest, and my skills may not be the best, I’ve wandered the Jianghu for years and can take charge of this matter. What do you think?”
“Alright!” The group responded decisively.
Qiu Zhiheng took out paper and pen, “Time is tight, explanations will be omitted, just follow the plan. I’m writing the key points here.”
…
By noon the next day, Tan Jinxiao arrived, still pushing that big cart with a few tough-looking men lying on it. He parked the cart at the door and saw the restaurant closed, Tan Jinxiao shouted:
“When a man speaks he must keep his promise, when a hero spits it must be like a nail! We agreed to meet today, fight or talk, give us a straight answer, hiding indoors without coming out, what’s the meaning of this?”
He really had a knack for timing, choosing crowds of passersby, before long, a crowd gathered to watch. Tan Jinxiao raised his voice:
“Everyone, take a look here! My brothers ate at this restaurant and lost their lives, sturdy men just drop dead here, with elderly and children depending on them, now countless families are left without support,
I’ve brought my brothers’ bodies here for an explanation. Let them hit and kick me, I just need their word, is this their doing,
admit it then, give me a straight answer, tell me the proper reasoning for compensation, hiding behind closed doors, what’s the meaning of that?
Today, I’m staking my life here, I refuse to believe I won’t get justice! I’ll show you something tough, today you’ll see if honest folk are really easy to bully, so watch closely.”
Tan Jinxiao turned around, reached for the knife on the cart.
This was going to draw blood.
If Zuo Wugang came out now, he’d have to duel blades with Tan Jinxiao, standing there, each slashing the other.
More and more spectators gathered, all staring at the door, watching if the shopkeeper dared come out.
Qiu Zhiheng stood on the second floor, peering through the window slit, whispered, “It’s indeed for cultivation; he’s using this trick to gain human energy.”
Zuo Wugang was puzzled, “What do you mean by gaining human energy?”
Qiu Zhiheng said, “This Tan Jinxiao is indeed a Cloud-level cultivator; he likely belongs to the rogue faction. This faction was prevalent in Puluo State years ago, relying on spectators to gain human energy,
these onlookers have intense curiosity, their human energy is fairly abundant. For rogues to gain this energy, they must grasp two points; speak with reason, and act decisively. Achieving these two points, he can enhance his cultivation level.”
