Chapter 624: An Ass That Doesn’t Ripple [Bonus Chapter]
Tasmin’s jaw tightened.
"A Warrior’s Heart... an internal evolution? What ridiculous, high-minded ideal did you conjure up to trigger a breakthrough in the middle of a burning city?"
Tasmin on the other hand was quite jealous, she had to reason a lot of things to dedicate herself to this power that she had now, why had Brida been able to do it instantly.
Brida beamed, her bronze cheeks flushing with a bright proud completely shameless pink.
"I decided I’m gonna have Lord Silas’s babies!" Brida announced at the top of her lungs, her booming voice echoing off the surrounding high-rises with the volume of a brass horn. "A whole damn army of ’em! Ten, maybe twelve or twenty! Strong, thick-headed, iron-boned brats that’ll run around Blessed Land breaking things and making him smile and I’m gonna be so goddamn strong that nothing in the Sovereign Realm can ever touch our family! Me and him, forever!"
...Silence.
Suffocating brain-melting silence descended upon the rooftop.
Tasmin’s daggers slipped from her fingers by half an inch, the chains clinking softly against her leather boots.
Her mouth opened, closed, and opened again with her sharp mind completely unable to formulate a coherent sentence.
’Isn’t... Isn’t that we all want to do?’
She got all this strength from forgetting that she wanted to be bred by Lord Silas and then remembering it...? How bigger of a dummy could she be!
Aeliana stood motionless.
The starlight bow vanished from the elf’s hands in a puff of purple mist.
Her silver-green eyes stared at Brida’s massive beaming face with the expression of a scholar who had just watched a goat solve a four-dimensional differential equation.
"You..." Aeliana stammered, her pale ears suddenly turning bright crimson. "You... your breakthrough... your evolution... was triggered by... breeding instincts?!"
"Damn right!" Brida declared proudly, flexing her massive right bicep until the bronze muscle peaked like a small mountain. "Look at this! Hard as bedrock! Strong as a titan! If a dragon bites my arm right now, the bastard’s teeth are gonna snap in half!"
Aeliana took a slow deliberate step forward with her brow furrowing as she crossed her arms beneath her breastplate.
"Brida," Aeliana said. "Your output has gone up, granted... But there’s a hole in your entire theory big enough to drive a siege engine through."
Brida blinked, lowering her arm. "Flaw? What flaw? More muscle means more strength!"
"In a fight, yes," Aeliana said, raising one slender finger. "In bed? Absolutely not."
Tasmin slowly turned her head toward Aeliana, a look of creeping horror dawning across her face.
"Aeli... please do not do this."
"Quiet, Tasmin, this actually matters," Aeliana said, waving her off and stepping straight into Brida’s space. "I’ve read forty-seven human smut novels out of the Great Library archive, strictly for craft research, since I’m drafting my own, and not one hero wants to climb into bed with something built like a bunker wall... Men want their women soft and warm."
Brida’s smile faltered, her round amber eyes widening slightly. "Soft...?"
"Yes, soft!" Aeliana pressed, deadpan despite her ears glowing like hot coals. "They want to sink their fingers into something that gives! Curves that rebound! How exactly is Lord Silas supposed to enjoy himself with a woman built like a reinforced bunker wall? You’re nothing but dense striation! Look at this!"
Before Brida could react, Aeliana reached out with both hands and aggressively grabbed a massive two-handed handful of Brida’s left buttock.
SQUEEZE!
Aeliana’s slender star-silver fingers strained and her knuckles whitened.
The plate armor didn’t even indent as the petrified muscle beneath the leather refused to budge by a single millimeter.
It was like attempting to knead a solid slab of quarried granite...
"Look!" Aeliana exclaimed, holding her hands in place, turning her head toward Tasmin with vindictive triumph. "Look at this, Tasmin! I cannot even gather a proper palmful! My fingers are slipping off the contour! It is solid slate and there is zero elasticity! How, Brida? How is this supposed to ripple when our Lord takes you from behind?! How will it bounce?! It won’t! It will merely produce a dull concussive clatter, like two shields colliding in an armory!"
Brida’s bronze face turned violently purple.
"H-HEY!" Brida squawked, jumping back half a step, swatting Aeliana’s hands away with a frantic flustered wave of her massive forearms. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING GRABBING MY ASS IN THE MIDDLE OF A WAR ZONE, YOU POINTY-EARED FREAK?!"
Tasmin slapped both hands over her own face, dragging her palms down her cheeks with a long agonizing soul-crushing groan that came from the deepest darkest pit of her stomach.
"I am surrounded by degenerates," Tasmin wept into the empty air, her voice muffled by her gloves. "Lord Silas, please strike me down with lightning... I beg of you."
"I am merely stating a fact!" Aeliana huffed, crossing her arms with her own cheeks burning hot. "If she wants to reach her goal, she needs to understand how human desire actually works! Lord Silas is a gentleman! He’ll break his wrist trying to spank her! Look at me for example... all soft and curvy, if Lord Silas takes me in his office then I’ll bend like a chair and there’ll be loud sounds too~"
"I CAN CONTROL IT!" Brida roared, stamping her foot so hard the parapet gave another groaning shudder.
Aeliana paused, her eyes blinking in surprise. "Control what?"
"The hardness!" Brida yelled, her broad hands gesturing wildly down her own body. "That’s what the [Warrior’s Heart] does! I don’t just stay hard all the time like a dumb rock! I can tighten the mana when I take a hit, and I can loosen the muscle when I’m resting! Watch!"
Brida took a deep shuddering breath.
"Haah..."
Her eyes closed.
She relaxed her shoulders, letting her massive frame settle and releasing the iron tension that usually locked her skeleton in place.
FSSSSSSSS!
A visible soft shimmer of golden-red vitality rippled through her skin, the harsh metallic luster fading into a warm sun-bronzed glow.
The dense muscle beneath her leather tunic subtly softened, expanding slightly into lush, natural fullness.
"There!" Brida snapped, turning her hip toward Aeliana with a defiant scowl. "Touch it now, you little bookworm!"
Aeliana hesitated for a second then, driven by pure shameless curiosity, the elf reached out again.
SQUEEZE!
Aeliana’s hand sank deep into Brida’s hip and buttock.
The flesh yielded smoothly under her fingers, it was impossibly soft this time... possessing a rich velvety bounce that pushed gently back against her palm with astonishing elasticity.
Aeliana’s silver-green eyes went wide as saucers.
"Oh..." Aeliana breathed with her mouth falling open.
She slowly leaned her upper body forward, resting the side of her delicate porcelain cheek directly against Brida’s massive relaxed bicep.
The muscle was like a warm silk-wrapped down pillow, radiating a comforting heat.
"Umm..." Aeliana murmured, her voice dropping into a dazed completely defenseless whisper as her cheek squished against Brida’s arm. "...you’re... you’re really soft. Like... remarkably soft. It feels like fresh bread."
Brida froze for a second, looking down at the elf resting her head on her bicep like a sleepy kitten then, Brida threw her head back.
"GWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
The laugh was so loud that it blew the dust off Aeliana’s hair!
"TOLD YA!" Brida boomed, flexing slightly so Aeliana’s head bounced up and down. "Auntie Brida has got it all! The shield for the war, and the pillows for the master! Gwahaha! You think I’d make a life goal without figuring out the details?! I’m a genius!"
"ENOUGH!"
CLANK!
Tasmin’s daggers slammed together, releasing a shower of violet sparks that separated the two women instantly.
Tasmin stood between them with her dark hair standing on end and her eyes blazing with fury.
"You are both unredeemable perverts," Tasmin hissed, pointing the tip of her left dagger at Brida’s nose, then her right at Aeliana’s forehead. "If either of you speaks another syllable about cushions, buttocks, or our Lord’s bedchamber while the city behind us is falling into the void, I will personally weave shadow-gags into your mouths and hang you from the clock tower by your ankles! Do you understand me?!"
Aeliana quickly cleared her throat, stepping back with a sharp cough, frantically smoothing down the front of her star-silver cuirass while her ears burned an even deeper shade of magenta.
"Ahem... Quite right," Aeliana said, her dignified archon composure slamming back into place with the subtlety of a falling portcullis. "A momentary lapse in discipline as the civilian evacuation remains our primary directive. Sector Five, from what I can see, is beginning to buckle under the strain of a rift formation. I shall take that quadrant immediately."
"Go," Tasmin snapped.
Aeliana nodded once, her silver-green eyes regaining their cold focus.
VUM!
Her slender frame dissolved into a blinding constellation of purple starlight, vanishing in mid-air with a sharp pop as she teleported across miles of urban airspace.
The rooftop fell silent once more, leaving only the dark-haired commander and the bronze titan standing among the cracked gravel.
Brida looked down at Tasmin and Tasmin looked up at Brida.
The wind howled between them, carrying the distant screams of citizens and the thundering roar of collapsing concrete.
Tasmin slowly lowered her daggers, sliding them back into their sheaths.
She extended her right arm, her fingers curling into a small leather-clad fist.
"A Warrior’s Heart," Tasmin said softly, her voice quiet, shorn of its earlier venom. "Congratulations, Brida. Truly..."
Brida blinked, surprised by the sudden genuine sincerity in the smaller woman’s eyes.
A broad, warm smile touched Brida’s lips as she raised her massive calloused fist, meeting Tasmin’s knuckles in the center of the space.
BUMP!
"Thanks, Tas," Brida rumbled softly. "Means a lot, coming from you."
Tasmin nodded once.
"Now then," Tasmin said smoothly.
GRAB!
Before Brida’s slow and newly enlightened brain could even process the shift in momentum—
Tasmin’s left hand shot downward like a striking viper, clamping with terrifying shadow-reinforced leverage around Brida’s right ankle.
Brida’s amber eyes bugged out of her skull. "Wait... WHAT?!"
Tasmin’s core roared with pure mana as her muscles flared and her shadow wrapped around her own boots to anchor herself directly into the roof’s structural steel.
She planted her heels, spun her entire torso in a violent low-slung three-hundred-and-sixty-degree circle, and launched her massive body straight into the sky.
"GWAHAHAHAHAHA!" Tasmin mocked at the top of her lungs, throwing Brida’s own laugh right back into her face! "MY HAND SLIPPED, TITAN! GO EARN YOUR POINTS!"
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
The roof where they stood completely collapsed beneath the launching force as Brida was hurled across the sky like an eight-ton artillery shell, pushing off with a force that shattered the remaining windows of every building within four hundred yards!
"TASMIN, YOU PETTY LITTLE BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITCH!" Brida’s roar trailed across the sky like rolling thunder as she soared over the rooftops of Sector Three.
The wind whipped violently against her face, but as she looked down through the smoke, her amber eyes sharpened into cold focus.
Directly below her trajectory, in the wide paved concourse of the High Market Plaza, an entire vanguard of ninety Gore-Hounds and three massive armored Trench-Crushers had completely encircled a terrified crowd of two hundred civilians huddled against the steps of a temple.
’Target acquired,’ Brida thought, her lips curling into a feral bloodthirsty grin.
VUUUUUUUUUM!
Mid-flight, Brida willed her [Warrior’s Heart] back into action!
Her muscles hardened into impenetrable star-slate as her skin took on that deep light-devouring metallic sheen and her eight-foot Titan’s Cleaver swung from her shoulder into both hands, igniting with roaring waves of crimson mana.
"OUT OF THE WAY, UGLY!" Brida bellowed!
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
She landed directly in the center of the monster formation and the concussive impact vaporized sixty feet of paved granite into a crater of white-hot dust.
Before the shockwave could even finish expanding, Brida’s eight-foot cleaver tore through the air in a three-hundred-and-sixty-degree horizontal sweep.
SHRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRK!
The crimson blade cleaved through thirty gore-hounds and the three Trench-Crushers in a single devastating stroke.
SPLAT-BOOM-CRASH!
Massive pressurized geysers of black and crimson blood exploded thirty feet into the air, raining down across the plaza like a slaughterhouse monsoon.
From the rear rank, a massive armored drake... moving at three hundred miles per hour dove straight at Brida’s blind spot with its spiked skull aiming directly for the back of her neck.
Brida didn’t even turn around.
CRUNCH!
The drake’s skull slammed directly into the bare unarmored skin of Brida’s upper shoulder but the monster didn’t pierce her... It didn’t push her forward by an inch either.
The moment the beast struck her titan-hardened flesh, its own momentum violently backfired as its skull caved inward like an egg hitting an iron anvil, its neck snapped into four pieces and its entire body pulverized itself against her shoulder, collapsing into a heap of twitching meat at her heels.
Brida lowered her cleaver, resting the bloody edge against the stones, and turned toward the two hundred weeping and trembling civilians huddled on the temple steps.
She reached up, checked that the yellow poppy was still secure behind her ear, and offered them a massive toothy grin.
"Don’t wet yourselves, folks!" Brida shouted cheerfully, waving her bloody gauntlet toward the sky. "Blessed Land has arrived! Nobody dies on Auntie Brida’s watch!"
