Starting Out As The God of Beasts
Chapter 209: Angels
Telvanus took a slow, deliberate step forward into the moonlight, his hands tucked loosely behind his back as his ethereal gaze drifted over the plush furnishings of the Elder’s private quarters.
He examined the polished mahogany desk, the array banners hanging on the walls, and the faint traces of divine essence hovering near the ceiling, taking in every detail with quiet curiosity.
Roy remained cross-legged on the silk-cushioned bed, his composure unbroken despite the sudden appearance of a high divine entity in his private sanctuary.
"I knew you would track me down eventually," Roy spoke smoothly, shifting his weight slightly on the bed. "Though I am curious... how exactly did you know I was actively seeking a way to contact you?"
Telvanus turned his shifting, featureless face toward Roy, a faint, luminous smile flickering across his ethereal features.
"I am the God of Information, Varanus," Telvanus answered softly, his voice echoing like the turning of a million ancient pages.
"I do not merely hear whispers; I see the very flow of information as it weaves through the tapestry of existence. Every thought spoken to the wind, every secret written in ink, and every prayer sent into the void passes through my domain. I have been watching your progress closely ever since your expedition into the Jura Eastern Continent began."
Telvanus paused, his shimmering robes rustling as he stepped closer to the center of the room. "In fact, while you have been waging your war in the mortal realm, I have been actively working behind the curtain—suppressing spatial signatures and preventing the direct interference of the True Gods above. However..."
Telvanus’s smile faded into a serious, somber line.
"...it appears one of the True Gods has grown ambitious. He seeks to break the delicate balance and expand his divine influence across these very lands."
Roy let out a slow, heavy sigh, resting his chin in his hand as he looked at the God of Information.
"I am hardly surprised," Roy murmured, his voice laced with pragmatic indifference.
"Which god wouldn’t want to expand their territory and gather more mortal faith? It is the nature of divine existence. But tell me... who exactly is this intruder trying to mark my turf?"
Telvanus remained silent for a brief second, the ambient light in the room dimming slightly as if the very air hesitated to speak the entity’s name.
"His name is Makane, the Sky God," Telvanus answered at last.
The name hung heavily in the quiet chamber.
A light, knowing smile returned to Telvanus’s lips as he began to elaborate.
"Makane is a loyal vassal to the Sun God—a terrifying entity whose pantheon commands the absolute strongest faction among the ten great divine factions of the upper realm. The Sun God himself is widely acknowledged as the supreme head of the ten Absolute-tier True Gods."
Telvanus turned away from Roy, walking slowly toward the large, open window that overlooked the misty, torchlit courtyards of the Glorious Mythical Sect.
He rested his slender, pale hands on the carved stone sill, staring out at the vast world beyond the mountain peaks before letting out a quiet sigh.
"Makane himself is a Lesser-tier True God, much like Damascus," Telvanus explained, his gaze fixed on the stars above. "However, do not fall into the trap of foolishly comparing the two.
Unlike Damascus—who was reckless, arrogant, and ruled entirely by his wrath—Makane is deeply cautious, patient, and exceptionally observant. He does not act on impulse."
Telvanus slightly turned his head, looking back at Roy over his shoulder with a sharp, warning glint in his glowing eyes.
"I must warn you, Roy. You must deal with his Church of the God of the Sky with the utmost secrecy and surgical precision. Makane will not descend directly to the mortal plain as Damascus foolishly attempted to do... but he will most certainly make direct moves from above."
Roy’s eyebrows furrowed deeply, his golden-crimson eyes narrowing beneath his borrowed brow. "Direct moves?" Roy questioned, his voice dropping an octave.
"What do you mean by that? If he won’t descend, how can he act directly?"
Telvanus slowly turned his body around, facing Roy fully as he posed a calm, deliberate question.
"Tell me... how much do you truly know about the beings called Angels?"
Roy’s frown deepened.
He leaned back slightly, searching through his deep well of divine knowledge before answering.
"Angels are high divine spirits created directly from the absolute essence of the True Gods above," Roy explained precisely.
"They serve as the personal weapons, enforcers, and holy heralds of the higher pantheons.
But... since Makane is merely a Lesser-tier True God, he shouldn’t possess the authority or divine capacity to spawn an Angel of his own, correct?"
Telvanus smiled warmly, nodding his head in approval.
"Under normal circumstances, you would be entirely correct, Roy. A Lesser-tier god lacks the fundamental authority to forge an Angel.
However... the Sun Pantheon operates under a very unique, highly centralized hierarchy. It is not uncommon for the Absolute-tier True God to grant or lend one of his personal Angels to a loyal vassal who requires absolute enforcement in a lower realm."
Telvanus raised a single, luminous finger.
"Which means... the probability of a genuine, battle-ready Angel descending to reinforce Sky God’s Church is far greater than you can possibly imagine. You must tread with extreme caution."
Roy took a deep, steadying breath, letting the heavy air fill his lungs as he digested the revelation.
He ran a hand through his hair, his mind instantly shifting gears from simple infiltration to high-stakes divine warfare.
"Very well," Roy said quietly, his gaze locking onto the God of Information. "If I am to conquer the Northern Hashian Mountains, obliterate this mortal sect from within, and purge every trace of the Sky God’s Church... what must my protocol be?"
Telvanus shrugged his shoulders casually, a dry, amused smirk touching his lips as his form began to subtly dissolve into faint motes of starlight.
"Do what you do best, Varanus," Telvanus instructed softly, his voice beginning to fade into the ambient mana of the room. "Infiltrate, manipulate, and crush them from the inside out. But above all else... you must ensure that you erase every single trace of your true divine signature. Makane must never realize that an independent Divine Spirit of your caliber exists on the mortal plain. If he detects your true identity... a full holy crusade will descend upon this continent before your kingdom is ready."
FLICKER.
With those final words, the God of Information vanished completely, leaving behind only the gentle whistle of the night wind rustling through the open window.
Roy sat alone in the quiet dark, his stolen face relaxing into a long, wicked, and razor-sharp smile.
"An Angel, huh?" Roy whispered to the empty room, his eyes blazing with a fierce, dangerous light.
"Then I had better make sure this play is executed flawlessly."
