Night descended upon Jayrel City like a heavy, suffocating shroud.

The once-vibrant thoroughfares, usually filled with night markets and singing taverns, were now completely abandoned.

The city gates had been barred from the inside, and not a single candle flickered behind the shuttered windows.

The only movement in the wide, cobblestone square was Peerless Supreme Elder, his tall frame wrapped tightly in his dark-brown hooded coat as he paced through the eerie silence.

Suddenly, a violent whirlwind blew through the alleyways, scattering dust and loose straw across the square.

Peerless Supreme Elder halted his steps, his brow furrowing deeply beneath his hood.

High-density mana flared around his body in anticipation.

SWOOSH.

Out of the surrounding shadows stepped six figures.

They were ordinary citizens—a butcher, a blacksmith, two guards, and two merchant women—yet they moved with a horrifying, synchronized precision.

"Greetings," the six figures uttered in perfect, identical unison, bowing their heads at the exact same angle.

"Who are you?" Peerless Supreme Elder questioned, his voice echoing coldly against the empty stone buildings. "Why are you playing these twisted mind games? Why are you doing this?!"

"Why do you think I am doing this?" the six figures asked in unison, their heads snapping back up simultaneously.

Their lips curled into matching, unsettling grins. "Kaelos City received the absolute punishment of God... that is all that matters."

So the rumors were real... Peerless Supreme Elder’s frown deepened, a cold drop of sweat tracing his temple.

He pressed further, his hand gripping his sword hilt. "And who is this god of yours?"

"His name is Varanus," the six puppets answered together, their voices overlapping in an eerie, resonant chorus. "The God of Beasts and Men. The supreme father of all beastfolk. And your Glorious Mythical Sect committed an unpardonable sin by capturing, torturing, and enslaving his children."

"My sect, huh?" Peerless Supreme Elder clenched his fist, his knuckles turning white as his pride as a Middle-enlightenment stage Martial General flared violently.

"So that means you intend to seek revenge? On my entire sect?!"

The six figures shrugged in perfect synchronization, their smiles widening.

"Definitely."

That singular word shattered the Elder’s patience.

"RAGH!"

Peerless Supreme Elder roared in blind fury.

His Middle-enlightenment stage Martial General mana burst outward like a volcanic eruption, generating a roaring tempest of green, razor-sharp wind blades around his body.

"Then you need to die here and now!" Peerless Supreme Elder declared, his bloodshot eyes flashing with lethal intent.

"I’ll send you directly to your god!"

BOOOM!

He charged forward, breaking the sound barrier.

His speed was far beyond what any mortal vessel could ever hope to process or react to.

BANG!

A split second later, Peerless Supreme Elder appeared behind the six puppets, his wind blades sweeping through the air.

The six citizens were instantly obliterated, their bodies turned into a gory mist of meatpaste that splattered across the cobblestones.

The Elder straightened his posture, exhaling a heavy breath of satisfaction—

STEP. STEP. STEP.

From the surrounding shadows, twelve more figures stepped into the moonlight.

Soldiers, nobles, and street vendors walked out, their eyes hollow, milky white, and completely void of human emotion.

They began to laugh in unison—a mocking, metallic sound that filled the silent square.

"Killing them won’t hurt me in the slightest... they’re just my disposable puppets, you dimwit," the twelve mocked as one.

The insult struck Peerless Supreme Elder like a slap across the face.

His rage skyrocketed, burning away whatever caution Priest Arnold had tried to instill in him.

"DIE!"

BOOOOOOM!

He blurred through the square again, his wind blades tearing through the air.

All twelve figures were sliced into fine pieces before their laughs could even echo off the walls.

Yet, before the blood could settle, twenty-four men stepped out from the alleys, their expressions identical.

SLASH! BOOM!

Seconds later, all twenty-four lay dead on the dirt.

Then came forty-eight puppets, surrounding the Elder in a vast, tight circle.

Peerless Supreme Elder went completely berserk, executing high-tier wind arts, summoning hurricanes that pulverized entire rows of houses just to slaughter the mindless crowd.

Minutes later, all forty-eight were reduced to ash and rubble.

The numbers doubled again.

Ninety-six. Then one hundred and ninety-two.

The more the body count multiplied, the more enraged and hysterical Peerless Supreme Elder became.

His mana reserves were depleting, his lungs burning as he hacked, slashed, and blasted through the endless sea of human flesh.

And high above the bloody square, watching the grand spectacle with absolute, cold detachment... Roy was having the time of his life.

As a high Divine Spirit, Roy did not possess the frail, emotional limitations of mortals.

He felt no sympathy for the dying puppets, nor did he feel malice toward the struggling Elder.

Mortals were not "people" to him; even the beastmen he liberated were merely convenient tools on a grander chessboard.

He was neither righteous nor demonic—he was simply an absolute force of nature playing with ants.

HA... HAHAHAHA!

Roy’s melodic, youthful laughter boomed from the night sky, vibrating directly inside the Elder’s skull.

Surrounded by the bloody remnants of one hundred and ninety-two dead puppets, Peerless Supreme Elder fell to one knee, breathing heavily.

He wiped blood from his forehead and pointed his glowing sword toward the heavens, roaring at the top of his lungs.

"SHOW YOURSELF, YOU COWARD!" the Elder screamed hysterically, his voice hoarse.

"Stop hiding behind these meat shields! Show your face and face a Peak-Martial General of the Glorious Mythical Sect!"

Up on the roof, Roy tilted his head, completely unbothered by a mere mortal’s cheap, desperate provocation.

Yet, considering the game had reached its natural conclusion, he decided to honor the dying man’s final request.

WHOOSH.

Roy stepped off the roof ledge, floating down through the night air like a falling leaf.

His sleek, glowing golden hair fluttered gently in the hot wind, his divine crimson eyes sparkling with amusement.

He landed softly atop the pile of rubble, his hands casually tucked into his pockets, a lopsided, effortless grin resting on his lips.

Sensing the sudden, terrifying shift in the atmosphere, Peerless Supreme Elder’s instincts screamed in absolute terror.

He knew instantly that this golden-haired youth was the real deal.

Without hesitation, the Elder poured every last drop of his remaining mana into his blade.

"DIE, MONSTER!"

BOOOOOOOOOOM!

Peerless Supreme Elder unleashed a catastrophic torrent of concentrated wind storms, merging them into a massive, mountain-splitting mana destruction beam that shot straight toward Roy’s chest.

Roy didn’t even draw his hands from his pockets.

He casually raised his right elbow and flicked his wrist.

SLAP!

With a light, almost dismissive smack, the mountain-destroying beam of compressed mana was swatted out of the sky like a pesky fly, veering off course and exploding harmlessly into the distant mountains.

Before the Elder’s eyes could even register the impossible feat, Roy’s figure dissolved into mist.

SWOOSH.

Roy materialized directly behind Peerless Supreme Elder, leaning forward slightly as his hands remained comfortably in his pockets.

"It’s over," Roy whispered softly against the Elder’s ear.

THUMP.

Peerless Supreme Elder froze.

A sudden, cold shockwave exploded inside his body, instantly shattering his mana core, rupturing his meridians, and severing his connection to his soul.

"Cough... ack!"

The Elder coughed out a violent mouthful of black blood, his glowing sword clattering onto the cobblestones.

He collapsed heavily onto his knees, his vision rapidly dimming as his life force drained into the dirt.

Roy stepped around the dying man, looking down at him with a cool, calm expression.

With a faint hum of crimson divine essence, Roy’s physical form began to shift, warp, and rewrite itself.

Within seconds, his height expanded, his features aged, and his clothing transformed—until he stood as an exact, flawless duplicate of Peerless Supreme Elder himself, right down to the tiny scar on his jaw and the texture of his dark-brown coat.

Roy took a deep breath, testing his new vocal cords as he looked down at the corpse at his feet.

"Lucky you," Roy sighed in the Elder’s exact voice, a faint, dangerous smirk touching his stolen lips....

"You won’t have to stay alive to watch your beloved sect get burned to the ground."
