Star Ship Girl Era: My Shipgirls Are Too Overpowered
Chapter 403: The Architecture Is Familiar 2
The next morning began with the strategic core.
Lysara’s team had spent most of the night securing the maintenance route, placing additional relays, and checking every junction between the damaged ring section and the sealed strategic door.
Nothing serious had changed while they rested.
The seventeen large constructs remained inside their maintenance bays.
Smaller machines occasionally appeared near the damaged sections, but most avoided the route after losing several units to Lysara’s drones.
The intact security frames still accepted the copied maintenance authorization.
That was as good as it was likely to get.
Aurelian joined the command feed shortly after waking.
Rhoswen was already there.
He looked at her.
"You slept?"
"Yes."
"How long?"
"That sounds like a trap."
Eirenne answered for her.
"Five hours and forty-three minutes."
Rhoswen stared at the projection.
"You really need hobbies."
"I have several."
"Monitoring my sleep should not be one of them."
"It is fleet medical management."
Aurelian decided the argument could continue without him.
He looked toward Lysara’s feed instead.
She was already inside Annex Seven.
Not physically.
Her cruiser remained outside the station while she controlled several drones through the relay network.
Selvarin and Veylora had both moved closer to the damaged ring, keeping their cruisers ready in case the large constructs returned.
"Ready?" Aurelian asked.
Lysara nodded.
"As much as we can be."
Eirenne transmitted the Helion continuity records.
The files moved slowly through the relay chain inside Annex Seven before reaching the strategic door.
Aurelian watched the old system process them.
Helion Bastion Twelve command authority recognized.
Current Directorate central command unavailable.
Emergency successor authority accepted.
That was the second requirement.
The first remained biological confirmation.
The strategic core requested a living Human commander.
Aurelian had expected that.
"Can Lysara satisfy it?"
Eirenne checked the wording.
"She is Human, but the reconstructed command claimant is you. The system wants the same individual."
Rhoswen immediately looked toward him.
"You are not traveling nine days into Mournveil just to touch a scanner."
"I know."
Astra stood beside Aurelian, arms folded.
"There must be another option."
Veylora started going through the old protocols.
"Remote biological verification existed."
Eirenne looked toward her.
"For strategic facilities?"
"For wounded commanders who could not physically reach command chambers."
That sounded promising.
Veylora searched through the station’s surviving emergency medical standards until she found the procedure.
A certified Human medical system could verify identity, then send a sealed biological authentication packet through military channels.
Sanctuary Ardent had exactly that.
Aurelian looked toward Eirenne.
"The medical scanner already verified me when I received sanctuary authority."
"Yes."
"Can that record be converted?"
Eirenne began working before he finished speaking.
"It can."
Doctor Marr was pulled into the process ten minutes later, mostly because the authentication protocol required medical certification, and Aurelian refused to treat old medical safeguards as optional simply because they were inconvenient.
She reviewed the request, confirmed that the sanctuary’s biological record remained valid, then authorized a new scan.
Rhoswen watched Aurelian step onto the medical platform.
"You know, this place has scanned you more than most hospitals scan actual patients."
"That is probably because I keep finding things that want proof I’m Human."
"Maybe you look suspicious."
Astra gave her a flat look.
Rhoswen smiled.
The scan finished quickly.
Eirenne sealed the result using Sanctuary Ardent’s emergency medical authority, then transmitted it through Lysara’s relay network.
Annex Seven took nearly three minutes to answer.
Human biological confirmation accepted.
Two requirements complete.
The final one remained.
Emergency review by surviving strategic intelligence.
The strategic door unlocked.
Not opened.
Unlocked.
That distinction mattered.
Lysara’s drones moved closer.
The massive panels separated slowly, revealing a corridor that looked almost untouched compared to the damaged maintenance sections behind them.
The lights were still working.
The floor was clean.
There was no wreckage.
No improvised machinery.
No signs that maintenance constructs had been cutting pieces from the walls.
Whatever controlled Annex Seven had protected this area carefully.
Veylora stared through the feed.
"They never entered."
Eirenne agreed.
"The strategic core must have isolated itself from the maintenance network."
That explained why the constructs had continued operating under old emergency orders without receiving new ones.
The station had effectively been divided.
The strategic intelligence waited behind one sealed system.
The maintenance network outside continued trying to preserve the station forever.
Nobody remained to reconnect them.
Lysara sent six drones through the open door.
No weapons activated.
The corridor continued for several hundred meters before opening into a large circular chamber.
At the center stood a black structure almost three stories tall.
Its surface was covered in narrow lines of pale light.
Three ring-shaped machines surrounded it.
One above.
Two below.
Eirenne became very quiet.
Aurelian noticed.
"That is the strategic intelligence?"
"No."
"What is it?"
"The Adaptive Strategic Cognition Matrix."
The relic they had come looking for was sitting in the middle of the room.
It was much larger than Aurelian expected.
Not something they could simply put on a transport and carry back to Sanctuary Ardent without planning.
The matrix had been built directly into Annex Seven’s command architecture.
Veylora looked at its support systems.
"Removing that will take serious work."
Lysara nodded.
"And probably shut down half the station."
Aurelian had already reached the same conclusion.
"Then we do not remove it."
Rhoswen looked over.
"We came here for it."
"We came here because we thought it was something we could recover."
"It is recoverable."
"By dismantling the facility."
Rhoswen thought about that.
"Less ideal."
Eirenne was still studying the matrix.
"There may be another option."
Aurelian looked toward her.
"The original technical entry says it was designed to support multiple strategic intelligences through remote links. Annex Seven used the physical core as the main processing structure, but attached command AIs did not need to exist inside the station."
"So you can use it remotely?"
"Possibly."
"From Sanctuary Ardent?"
"Not with the current relay network."
That brought them to the second major system.
The long-range coordination relay.
Eirenne displayed its location.
It was installed only two levels away from the cognition matrix and was still drawing power.
