Star Ship Girl Era: My Shipgirls Are Too Overpowered

Chapter 361: Human Continuance Matrix

  • Next Chapter

The lift continued rising toward the Continuity Vault while Eirenne sorted the information copied from the Human Continuance Matrix.

At first, she said nothing.

Aurelian noticed because she normally shared important findings as soon as she confirmed them.

This time, her projection remained beside the lift wall with several layers of old records moving behind her eyes.

"What did you find?" he asked.

"The matrix opened part of its historical archive after completing your examination."

Rhoswen looked toward her.

"Was it waiting to make sure he was Human again?"

"No. It was waiting to confirm that he was an active commander with a stable fleet connection."

Astra stood beside Aurelian.

"Why does that matter?"

"I am still sorting the answer."

The lift passed the final lower level and entered the Continuity Vault. The doors opened onto the wide storage chamber, where construction frames and cargo units continued moving toward the upper transport routes.

The work had not slowed while they were below.

Several large machines had already been loaded onto heavy platforms. Maintenance crews were separating part of the first fabrication line, carefully marking each section so that it could be rebuilt after reaching Helion Bastion Twelve.

Aurelian stepped off the lift.

"Give me the simple version first."

Eirenne followed them.

"Sanctuary Ardent was not built as a single emergency shelter. It was one part of a larger Vhaloric Directorate survival plan."

Aurelian slowed.

"How large?"

"I don’t know yet. The records mention several facilities, but most names were removed from the local archive before the sanctuary was sealed."

Rhoswen looked around the vault.

"There are more places like this?"

"Possibly. Not all of them would have the same purpose or equipment."

That was enough to interest Aurelian, but he did not allow himself to move too quickly.

They had only just gained control of Sanctuary Ardent. Its defenses were damaged, tens of thousands of survivors needed housing, and the Arcturus convoy had arrived.

Chasing another hidden sanctuary before securing this one would be foolish.

"Copy the records and keep working," he said. "We deal with the convoy first."

Eirenne nodded.

A communication from Solenne reached him before they left the vault.

"The lead Arcturus vessel is requesting permission to approach the western docks."

"Are the docks stable?"

"One passage is usable. Their repair ship can enter, but the larger transports will need to remain in orbit."

"Let the repair ship dock. Hold the medical vessels near the lower cargo entrance until Vaela clears them."

"Understood."

Rhoswen looked toward the cargo lifts.

"Who did the Arcturus family send?"

Aurelian checked the convoy list.

"Engineers, doctors, administrators, and security teams. No major family representative."

"That sounds peaceful."

"It means my father doesn’t want the convoy to look like an occupation force."

Astra understood immediately.

"Especially while the sanctuary population is still deciding what happens next."

"Yes."

Aurelian had accepted emergency authority because someone needed to protect the sanctuary.

That authority did not give the Arcturus family the right to claim the people inside it.

Cassian would know that.

Other families might choose not to care.

They reached the upper command level as the first Arcturus repair ship entered the damaged launch passage.

Its hull moved slowly through the broken armor, guided by Eirenne and two sanctuary cutters.

The ship was broad and practical, with repair arms folded along both sides and several equipment bays under its main body. It carried no heavy weapons beyond normal defensive systems.

Its arrival still changed the mood inside the command center.

For the first time since Aurelian entered Sanctuary Ardent, help had arrived without needing to be rescued.

A woman appeared on the communication display.

She looked to be in her early forties, with short dark hair and an Arcturus family service uniform. Aurelian recognized her from family records, though they had never worked together directly.

"Commander Arcturus," she said. "Chief Engineer Maren Dast. Your father sent us with instructions to follow your authority while operating in this region."

"Welcome to Sanctuary Ardent."

Maren looked past him at the damaged command center.

"You were not exaggerating in the report."

"I removed some of the worst details."

"I assumed you did."

Her eyes moved toward Eirenne’s projection.

"We received the battery and shield records. If they are accurate, the sanctuary needs more than repairs."

"It needs replacement systems."

"Yes. Some of the old equipment cannot be restored with what we brought."

"How much can you do?"

"We can stabilize the power lines, restore part of the western launch area, and return several secondary batteries to service. The main weapons will take longer."

"How long?"

"If Helion Bastion Twelve can manufacture the missing sections, perhaps three weeks. If not, several months."

Rhoswen frowned from the side of the room.

"That is not fast."

Maren looked toward her.

"Ancient fortress weapons usually take longer than an afternoon."

"We had an afternoon earlier."

"And how did that end?"

"With the weapons broken."

Maren gave a small nod.

"Then we agree."

Aurelian decided they would probably work well together.

"Begin with shields, launch access, and cooling systems," he said. "The main weapons come after that."

"That matches my recommendation."

A second communication entered from the medical convoy.

Vaela had already begun speaking with the Arcturus doctors and was refusing several of their first suggestions.

Aurelian opened the shared channel.

"We can move the remaining unstable patients onto the medical ships," one of the convoy doctors said. "Their equipment is newer."

"And the patients have just survived preservation failure, forced awakening, and two battles," Vaela replied. "Moving them again because your beds are newer does not automatically help them."

"We can provide better monitoring."

"You can bring that monitoring inside."

The doctor paused.

"That will take more time."

"Yes."

Aurelian stepped into the conversation.

"Bring the equipment inside."

The convoy doctor looked toward him.

"Commander, the ships were prepared to receive patients."

"The patients are stable where they are. We move equipment, not people."

Vaela said nothing, but her expression showed that she approved.

The doctor accepted the order.

Aurelian ended the channel and turned toward Astra.
