SSS Talent: I Can Rewrite Reality
Chapter 109: True Power of Meteor Climbing Stance
Jackson merely shook his head without offering an explanation.
Instead, his gaze drifted upward, settling on the sky directly above the goblin tower.
Hundreds of meters above the structure, five Rank Two alloyed knives were spinning rapidly through the air.
Their blades reflected the sunlight as they revolved around a common center, gradually accelerating until their individual forms began to blur. From a distance, they resembled a spinning disc of silver light, its razor-sharp edges cutting through the air with an increasingly violent hum.
Then, something extraordinary happened.
The five knives began drawing closer together.
Invisible strands of spiritual force extended from Jackson, connecting him to each blade. Under his precise control, the five weapons aligned along a single trajectory, their movements becoming perfectly synchronized. Rather than spinning independently, they began revolving as though they were parts of a single mechanism.
His spiritual force surged, wrapping around the weapons like an invisible binding.
The five knives trembled violently before their individual outlines disappeared within a blinding mass of white light.
For a fleeting moment, it seemed as though a single enormous blade had appeared in the sky.
This was the true meaning of Meteor Climbing Stance!
The technique was not merely about controlling multiple weapons simultaneously. At its highest limit, the five blades could be brought together, their combined force concentrated into a single devastating attack.
Jackson’s spiritual force acted as the binding that held them together, transforming five separate weapons into one.
Jonathan followed his friend’s line of sight, squinting as he searched the sky.
He saw nothing unusual.
There was only the distant goblin tower, the forest canopy, and the clear sky above them.
Confusion spread across his face. He was just about to ask Jackson what he was looking at when a blinding white light suddenly erupted high above the tower.
The brilliance was so intense that several people instinctively raised their hands to shield their eyes.
Before anyone could react, the light plunged downward.
BOOM!
A thunderous shockwave swept across the forest.
The force struck the surrounding trees, sending branches whipping violently through the air. Dust rose from the ground, and the leaves scattered across the battlefield were swept away in a spiraling gust.
The enormous blade descended at supersonic speed, tearing through the air so violently that the sound barrier shattered in its wake.
By the time the goblins inside the tower realized something was wrong, it was already too late.
The blade struck.
Like a red-hot knife slicing through butter, it tore straight through the wooden structure from top to bottom.
The tower’s reinforced walls offered almost no resistance. Thick logs split apart, metal reinforcements twisted and snapped, and the entire structure shuddered under the tremendous force of the impact.
For one brief instant, the tower seemed to hold together.
Then came the collapse.
A deafening series of crashes echoed through the forest as the massive structure broke apart. Wooden beams tumbled from the upper levels, walls folded inward, and the entire tower came crashing down beneath an enormous cloud of dust and smoke.
The screams of goblins erupted from within the collapsing ruins.
Those fortunate enough to escape the initial impact scrambled out from beneath the falling debris before fleeing in every direction. Their crude weapons were abandoned on the ground as they ran, driven by an instinctive terror that overwhelmed even their usual hostility toward humans.
The forest descended into chaos.
Jackson stood motionless, staring at the destruction from hundreds of meters away.
For once, even he struggled to conceal his astonishment.
"Too powerful..."
The words escaped his mouth almost involuntarily.
He had known that Meteor Climbing Stance possessed a powerful offensive application, but witnessing its destructive potential firsthand was an entirely different experience.
The attack had crossed an enormous distance, penetrated the tower’s defenses, and brought down the entire structure in a single strike.
And he hadn’t needed to step into a single trap to accomplish it.
However, Jackson was also keenly aware that the technique had glaring weaknesses. It required considerable spiritual force and depended on the precise coordination of all five weapons. Its effectiveness also came at a steep material cost.
The moment the blade struck the tower, he felt the connection with all five knives disappear.
His expression tightened.
Every single one had been destroyed.
Not one had survived the impact.
Jackson couldn’t help looking toward the distant ruins with a mixture of satisfaction and regret. The five knives had been Rank Two alloyed weapons, hardly priceless treasures, but replacing them would still cost him resources he would rather spend elsewhere.
Still, considering the result, he could hardly complain.
He had demolished a fortified goblin tower without approaching it, bypassing the traps that had made the structure so dangerous in the first place.
The price was steep, but the attack had achieved precisely what he wanted.
Meanwhile, the other students stood rooted to the ground.
Their mouths hung open, and their eyes were so wide that they looked like helpless chicks staring at a world they could no longer understand.
They had all come to the assessment expecting a competition among first-year students. Some had hoped to establish their reputations, others wanted to secure valuable rewards, and a few had simply wanted to survive and collect as many monster cores as possible.
Yet what they had just witnessed bore little resemblance to an ordinary student competition.
One attack had destroyed a massive tower from hundreds of meters away.
The shockwave alone had sent dust and leaves flying across the forest, while the weapon’s impact had reduced an entire fortified structure to rubble.
After a long silence, someone finally managed to speak.
"Just what did we witness?"
His voice trembled as he stared at the ruins.
"Is this really something a student should be capable of? An attack of that magnitude... wouldn’t it take a First Life Transformation expert to accomplish something like this?"
Nobody answered.
They were too busy staring at the destruction, each struggling to reconcile what they had seen with their understanding of the power an Awakened could possess.
Inside the observation room, the atmosphere had become equally explosive.
Dean Maxwell shot to his feet, his eyes fixed on the screen displaying the ruined goblin tower. Even after years of overseeing talented students, he hadn’t expected to witness something like this during a first-year assessment.
Then, unable to contain his excitement any longer, he roared.
"Good! Good! Good!"
He repeated the word three times, his face breaking into a broad smile.
Jackson’s performance had thoroughly exceeded his expectations.
Initially, Maxwell had only suspected that the young man possessed unusual potential. His physical fitness results and subsequent combat performances had certainly been impressive, but there had still been room for doubt.
Not anymore.
The attack had demonstrated something far more important than raw strength. Jackson had analyzed the situation, recognized the danger posed by the tower’s traps, and devised a way to eliminate the threat without exposing himself to unnecessary risk.
He had turned a seemingly impossible obstacle into an opportunity to demonstrate his strength.
For Maxwell, that was every bit as valuable as the attack’s destructive power.
The other professors exchanged glances, their earlier disbelief giving way to genuine excitement. Sharp glints appeared in their eyes as they watched the collapsing tower replay on the screen.
They had spent years searching for students who could rise above their peers, individuals capable of becoming pillars of humanity in the ongoing struggle against the monsters threatening their world.
And now, one had appeared before them.
Jackson Von Maximus.
The young man whom many had previously overlooked had just delivered a performance that none of them would forget anytime soon.
After years of waiting, Golden Radiance Academy had finally produced another monster.
