SSS Awakening: I am the First Legendary Mage

Chapter 311: Disaster [POWER STONE BONUS]

’What happened here?’ Alex wondered, glancing toward the portal above before returning his attention to the people around him.

Whatever had caused the destruction could wait, because there were more urgent matters to handle.

"Hey, you there! Bring him over here! I’m a Priest!" Alex shouted toward a woman who was struggling to support an injured young man. There was not enough time to explain he was mage who could heal. The other party was too much in shock for that, so he just called himself a Priest.

The woman turned toward him with tears streaming down her face. Whether she didn’t recognize him or was simply too distressed to care, she immediately brought the injured man over.

"Please, he’s been losing so much blood, and nobody has been able to—" she began desperately, but Alex was already concentrating on the man’s injuries.

He pushed Advanced Battle Instincts into overload, causing the surrounding noises to become dull as his attention focused entirely on the injured man’s body. After taking a few deep breaths, he carefully began using Minor Heal, making sure that his Life Mana repaired the damaged tissues without causing abnormal growth.

It took nearly a minute before Alex finished healing the man’s injuries. "He’s going to be fine now, but he needs some rest. Please take him somewhere safe," Alex told the woman.

She examined the young man before breaking into tears again, repeatedly thanking Alex as she helped him move away. However, by the time Alex looked up, several more injured people had already gathered nearby, hoping to receive treatment.

Alex frowned slightly at the growing line, but he didn’t hesitate to begin healing the next person. This was the first time he had used Minor Heal on so many people in succession, and the experience was considerably different from healing himself.

He maintained Advanced Battle Instincts at maximum power, carefully examining each injury to avoid mistakes that might lead to tumors or other complications. Some of the injured were Adept Rank Ascenders whose souls possessed considerable strength, making it difficult for his mana to move freely through their bodies.

To overcome their resistance, Alex generated an enormous amount of Will and suppressed their own, allowing him to control the healing process. The stronger patients groaned and struggled uncomfortably as their Will was suppressed, forcing Alex to use mana to restrain their movements.

He could tell the sensation was unpleasant, but allowing them to move while he repaired their injuries would only make the process more dangerous. As time passed, the line continued growing, and Alex found himself treating one person after another without any meaningful breaks.

His understanding of Minor Heal improved at a remarkable rate, as concentrated on saving as many people as possible. His enormous mana pool proved invaluable once again, allowing him to continue healing long after an ordinary Ascender would have exhausted their reserves.

By the time Alex finally looked around again, he had treated a considerable number of injured people, including everyone who had been brought to him in critical condition. Although many still needed treatment for less serious injuries, he had managed to save those whose lives had been in immediate danger.

The only people he hadn’t treated were those suffering from serious injuries to delicate organs such as the heart and brain, since even a minor mistake while healing them could be fatal.

Fortunately, several Priests had appeared beside him at some point and taken responsibility for those patients. Alex had been so focused on healing everyone else that he hadn’t even noticed when they arrived.

After examining the remaining patients and confirming that nobody was in immediate danger, Alex finally let out a relieved sigh. He wiped the sweat from his forehead and checked his remaining mana, only to discover that his reserves had fallen to a mere five percent.

This was the first time his mana had dropped so low since he started investing stat points seriously into his Mana Stat. Considering how enormous his mana pool had become, the amount he had consumed while healing everyone was almost unbelievable.

Nevertheless, Alex couldn’t help smiling as he looked around at the people he had treated. Some were crying tears of joy after discovering that their loved ones would survive, while others approached him to express their gratitude.

Seeing their reactions made the effort feel worthwhile, and Alex was glad that he had decided to learn healing magic. Just as he was about to find somewhere to rest, several notifications appeared before his eyes.

[Minor Heal Spell has leveled up. Level 4 → Level 5.]

[Soul Piercer Spell detected.]

[Would you like to learn Soul Piercer Spell?]

[Yes/No.]

Alex raised his eyebrows in surprise, having never expected to discover another spell while treating injured people. However, after thinking about it briefly, he suspected that Soul Piercer had appeared because of how frequently he had used his Mana and Will to suppress the resistance of other people’s souls.

He had repeatedly forced his mana into their bodies to overcome their resistance, and it seemed that the System had recognized the method as the foundation of a new spell. Alex decided to examine it later, since he was more concerned about understanding what had happened here.

At that moment, something cold suddenly touched his cheek, drawing his attention away from the notifications.

"Here, have this. You look like you could use a drink," a familiar voice said, causing Alex to turn his head.

He discovered Sophia standing beside him, holding a bottle of water. Judging from her exhausted appearance and the healing mana surrounding her, she had probably been treating patients alongside him for quite some time.

He had been too focused on his own patients to notice her earlier, but now that several other healers were taking care of the remaining people in his line, he could finally afford a short break. Alex accepted the bottle with a grateful smile and quickly emptied it.

"Thanks," Alex said, then looked toward the damaged buildings. "What exactly happened here while I was gone? The school was relatively fine when I left, and now half of it has been destroyed."

Sophia’s expression became gloomy when she heard his question, and she sighed before answering.

"A disaster happened. Tia, Roan, Mrs. Ophelia, Miss Rae, and many others are still in critical condition, and we’re doing everything we can to keep them alive."

Alex’s expression immediately changed when he heard those familiar names, and he felt a growing sense of unease. He wanted to ask about their injuries and where they were being treated, but Sophia continued before he could interrupt her.

"It happened around four in the morning—"
