Chapter 204: Wild Orc Leader’s Wand

Alex looked toward him and considered the question. He liked the Principal because the man had remained surprisingly clear-headed throughout everything that had happened. After Alex had lost consciousness, the Principal had organized the others, made sure Alex and Roan were rescued quickly, and established a perimeter around the high school.

Alex had already heard how useful the man had been during the chaos, which was one of the reasons he was willing to listen to his opinions now.

"Portions will be plentiful, so you don’t have to worry too much about food. With so many monsters around, we shouldn’t run out anytime soon, although we’ll have to check which monsters are safe to eat. For now, though, we have plenty of Wild Orc corpses," Alex said.

The room suddenly became silent, and almost everyone stared at Alex with a shocked expression. A few people even looked as though they weren’t sure whether they had heard him correctly.

Alex was slightly confused by their reaction, and it took him a moment to realize what he had said. The Wild Orcs were humanoid creatures, and he had just casually suggested that they should consider eating them.

His Advanced Battle Instinct Spell had made him much more rational about matters like this. If eating Wild Orcs became necessary for survival, Alex wouldn’t hesitate too much, but he understood that most people wouldn’t be able to accept the idea so easily.

"You... are correct," the Principal eventually said with a bitter smile. "We are in an apocalypse, and we can’t survive while simply hoping that everything will go our way. If surviving means that we have to eat those monsters, then we should be prepared to do it."

Alex nodded calmly, although inwardly he felt a little awkward about the situation. He decided that he needed to be more careful about what he said from now on.

The fourth matter Alex brought up was the Wild Orc Shaman’s staff. The staff had come from the Wild Orc Shaman that Roan had defeated, and it had already been given to one of Roan’s faction members, who was now part of Alex’s faction as well.

Alex gave the staff from the Shaman he defeated to Sophia. As for the wands belonging to the Wild Orc Leader and Mages, they naturally belonged to Alex.

The fifth matter was rescue operations.

Alex had brought this up mainly because of his parents. He wanted to search for them himself as soon as possible, but he had already decided that he needed to go to the Land of Origin first.

If something was happening in Hell Difficulty, Alex needed to make sure his second body didn’t die. If one body died, there was a possibility that both bodies would die, so leaving his body in Hell Difficulty completely unprotected while he was on Earth was too risky.

So, while he was there, he couldn’t search for his parents. Instead of doing nothing for his parents while he was away, Alex wanted to have rescue teams search for survivors. Of course, he couldn’t order everyone to search only for his parents when there were countless other people who also had family members and friends they wanted to find.

Therefore, Alex proposed creating several teams that would leave the Base and search the surrounding areas for survivors. That way, the rescue effort could continue even while Alex was away in Hell Difficulty.

As for Tutorial Quest 8, Alex had already discussed it with the members of his faction. He had instructed them not to tell anyone else about the quest because if people learned that their faction needed to conquer a city, they might start viewing Alex and his faction as people who wanted to rule over everyone. Alex didn’t need that kind of problem right now.

After giving a few more instructions and making sure everyone understood what needed to be done, Alex finally decided to end the meeting. "All right, that’s everything for now. I’ll be going to the Land of Origin, and I hope there isn’t anything dangerous waiting for me there, but if something happens and I can’t return quickly, follow the plan we’ve decided on."

He continued, "If something dangerous happens here, make a decision based on the situation. Tina will be acting in my place. As for the pioneers here, I recommend that you enter the Land of Origin as well. Xithali’s words were ambiguous, but something significant might actually happen there, so it would be better to prepare for it."

Everyone nodded before gradually dispersing.

Alex then moved toward one of the deeper classrooms with his sister and Sophia following behind him. Sophia had spent most of the meeting helping the injured, and she now claimed that she was tired and needed to rest, which somehow meant that she was following Ava, Alex’s sister.

Alex was somewhat confused about why Sophia was using such an obvious excuse to follow him, but he decided not to ask. Instead, he focused his attention on the Wild Orc Leader’s wand in his hand.

The wand was made from dark brown wood, with a slightly rough surface that looked as though it had been carved rather than carefully polished. Several strange lines had been engraved along its length while the tip was slightly wider.

As Alex examined it, the System displayed its information.

[Fire Wand (B Rank)]

[The answer is fireball. The question is irrelevant.]

[Effect: Allows you to convert your mana into fire-element mana.]

Alex immediately tried using the wand, and as expected, it was considerably better than his F Rank Fire Wand. He could feel the difference almost immediately, but he felt some sort of hindrance, as if the wand was not listening to him properly. When he examined the rune inside the weapon, he discovered why he couldn’t bring out its full power.

The rune was different from the one inside his own Fire Wand, which was obvious since it must be a higher rank rune. More importantly, it wasn’t made from mana. The rune had been created using Origin Energy, while Alex was trying to activate it using mana.

Fortunately, the Origin Energy used to create the rune seemed to be have some similarities with mana. Because of that, Alex could still use the wand, although he couldn’t bring out its full potential.

Alex carefully memorized the rune’s structure. If he could later recreate the rune using mana, he should be able to create a similar weapon that would allow him to bring out its true power.

However, another question continued bothering him as he looked at the wand. The Wild Orc Shaman’s staff was SS Rank, so why was the Wild Orc Leader’s wand only B Rank?

Alex wondered if the difference was simply because Mage wands were rarer, which would explain why even the Wild Orc Leader had only possessed a B Rank wand. However, another thought suddenly occurred to him, and he turned around to look at Sophia.

"Sophia, what is the rank of the Wild Orc Shaman’s staff now?" Alex asked.

Sophia blinked, seemingly confused by his sudden question, before looking down at the staff in her hands as though she wanted to double-check its information.
