If Silas thought his stay in City AF would be all roses and cakes, then he was totally wrong. You didn’t play with fate and expect it to leave you alone. Through his ultimate ability, he’d been able to manifest Cupid on Earth, but it wasn’t without consequences.

Whether those consequences would have positive effects or not was also unknown. It was a lot his existence was casting and hoping for the good end, or else... he was cooked.

They’d just arrived at their residence, a hotel. It wasn’t packed, and everyone would be able to have a room to themselves, but Silas suggested the girls share a room, while the guys share another, which everyone agreed to instantly.

The guide was genuinely shocked, as she was expecting people of their caliber and status, especially Silas and Chloe, to act all high and arrogant. But they did the opposite, and even made her work far easier. To top it off, Silas requested that she be their personal guide for the whole of their stay in City AF. He even contacted the heads and told them of his request.

Naomi was surely getting a promotion after the banquet because being a personal guide to two S-Ranks and two A-Ranks wasn’t something that happened every day. In fact, it had never happened before. This was the first time, and she was the first person. With a barely contained smile, not forgetting the deep blush from standing in front of two heretically handsome guys, she left them to settle down.

***

Silas and Alpha had just settled into their room when the system flared right in front of them.

[NEW MISSION INITIATED!]

[Mission Details: Superhero Work]

- Thugs have robbed a local shop downtown. Stop them and save the hostages.

- Time Limit: 1 Hour

- Rewards: A Discovery in Fate

- Penalty: You Don’t Wanna Find Out...

___

"Superhero work?!" Alpha exclaimed, his composure cracking.

"You’ve got to be kidding me..." Silas just muttered tiredly, his expression showing exhaustion. "Just when I thought I could enjoy life..."

"You are enjoying life..." Alpha countered, looking at him disdainfully.

"Details!"

"Let’s get going. The system sounds ominous enough. I really don’t want to find out..." Alpha said, rising from the cushion he lay on, took out his daggers, and prepared to leave.

Silas stared at him for a while and told him to wait.

"That dagger is old. Let’s get new ones... ones that would fit your new power and rank, don’t you think?"

"What do you mean?"

"Bro, you evolved into an S-Rank being. You are no longer human. Anyway, let’s finish this first. The system will explain everything to you later."

"..."

[Ding! Insufficient Cupid Points!]

[Unable to Make Purchase!]

[Current Cupid Points is 0]

"..."

Silas stared at the screen for one good minute, and sighed so deeply that Alpha almost thought he was monopolizing oxygen. His eyes were literally blazing.

"Convert 500,000,000 dollars into CP..." Silas said, his tone hardened.

"BRO WHAT?!" Alpha’s eyes nearly bulged out after hearing what he just said. "ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?!"

Good thing Naomi isn’t here; otherwise, she would reconsider the job she’d just taken upon herself.

"Chill..."

"YOU JUST CONVERTED HALF A FREAKING BILLION INTO WHATEVER THAT CP IS!"

"Cupid Points, and it’s the system currency for purchases..."

"Silas..."

"Mm?"

"You are very stupid."

"This fucker!"

"You..."

"Seems you don’t want the new weapon."

"No- no! I’m just saying..."

"System, refund 300,000,000 dollars."

[Converted Cupid Points are non-refundable]

"..."

"..."

"Pfft..."

"..."

***

If anyone ever tells you demons are scary, then they are lying through their teeth. There’s always something scarier... a guy who has been scammed.

Silas closed the system window. "I’m fine."

"You are absolutely not fine."

"I’m perfectly fine." His eye twitched. "Let’s go."

"How?"

Silas smiled.

"We sneak out."

Five minutes later, the two of them were standing in the hallway, invisible. Alpha’s Camouflage ability had expanded dramatically since his evolution. Before, it had been a powerful concealment ability, but now it was something much more frightening.

His presence could disappear completely, sound could be dampened, his movements could become difficult to perceive, and even certain supernatural detection abilities could be fooled.

"Can you cover both of us?"

"Yes."

"Good."

A translucent distortion passed over them, and they vanished entirely. A hotel employee walked past and didn’t even glance in their direction. They then went into the elevator and clicked on the button for it to descend.

Inside the elevator, Silas leaned against the wall, his face completely expressionless, but his eyes were glowing. There was something darker behind them- a thin layer of killing intent was constantly leaking from his body.

Alpha noticed. He had fought beside Silas enough times to recognize the difference. This was financial rage.

Alpha slowly spoke. "Are you really still angry about the money?"

"No." Silas didn’t move.

"You are."

"No."

"You converted five hundred million dollars into system currency."

"Correct."

"The system refused to refund three hundred million."

"Correct."

"And you’re angry."

Silas looked at him.

"Incorrect."

Alpha stared at him, and Silas stared back. A vein appeared faintly on his forehead.

Alpha sighed.

"You’re releasing killing intent."

Silas glanced down. A faint pink aura was swirling around his fingers.

"Am I?"

"Yes."

"Interesting."

"You look like you’re planning to kill someone."

"I’m not."

"You’re literally terrifying."

Silas smiled. "I’m just thinking."

"That’s worse."

***

Outside, the evening air greeted them. City AF was alive. Cars moved along the streets, people walked under illuminated buildings, large screens displayed advertisements and tournament coverage, and somewhere nearby, music played from a restaurant.

[MISSION NAVIGATION ACTIVATED!]

A translucent map materialized in front of him, where a glowing red marker appeared several kilometers away.

[DESTINATION IDENTIFIED!]

[Estimated Distance: 4.7 Kilometers]

[Estimated Arrival Time: 11 Minutes]

[Recommended Route: Follow the highlighted path.]

A glowing line extended across the map, showing the path they were supposed to take.

"At least you’re useful."

Alpha looked at the map, studying the route.

"That area is downtown."

"Looks like it."

"That’s one of the commercial districts."

"Probably why there’s a shop."

They started moving. Because of Alpha’s Camouflage, they could travel without attracting attention. Silas walked with his hands in his pockets, while his expression remained dark. Alpha kept glancing at him, and eventually, he couldn’t take it anymore.

"Silas."

"Hm?"

"Are you sure you’re okay?"

"I’m fine."

"You keep saying that."

"Because I am."

"You’re radiating enough killing intent to make the average person faint."

Silas looked around and saw a few birds suddenly fly away from a nearby tree.

"Oops..."

"See?"

Silas lowered his killing intent- for approximately three seconds- then it returned. Alpha looked at him, his eyes glowing dangerously.

"Sorry."

"You’re going to murder the system one day."

"I can’t."

"Why?"

"It’s inside my head."

"..."

Silas’s expression became thoughtful.

"Maybe that’s why I’m so angry."

Alpha stopped walking, causing Silas to continue for two steps before realizing.

"What?"

"You’ve just discovered that your anger is worse because you can’t punch the thing responsible."

Silas nodded.

Alpha rubbed his forehead. "You’re unbelievable."
