"Wake her up."

-Bang!

The lackey punched her face when the order was given by the one supervising this mission.

The assassins of Elision had gathered in a dark room they had dug below the castle a long time ago.

This mission wasn’t the first time they had come to the Mayn royal castle. There were many secret passages here, many hidden secrets that the family or the mage guardian himself knew about.

This hideout was one such place.

"Argh!"

They had her tied to a chair, her face pale, her eyes bloodshot as she opened them and glared at each and every one of them.

She tried to escape but they did not use rope to tie her hands but steel wires much stronger than the threads.

They also took away her sword and were surprised to see an enchanted weapon that an ordinary veteran of a war should not possess.

It was old and worn out so maybe it was used by someone else before her, but it certainly was too good to leave in the hands of a bitch like her.

"Speak. And speak only the truth."

There was a curved knife in the hands of the supervisor who asked her this question.

But her bloodshot eyes were that of a beast wanting to tear apart each and every one of these bastards.

"Puti!"

She spat at them; spat exactly on the supervisor’s face as she smirked at the bastards. She wasn’t going to give up that easily.

-Bang!

The subordinate hit her once again, the power of his hand seeming like a sledge hammer colliding against a block of stone.

It should have dislocated her jaw, but she clenched her teeth at the right moment, only breaking a tooth on the side.

The shock from the blow was unbearable. Her head was spinning and she did not know what she was seeing in front of her at that moment.

She saw stars, and yet she knew this lot was far too weak to actually hurt her.

They will buy the act.

"Tell us, you damn bitch! Where did you learn that swordsmanship!?" The supervisor roared.

He knew this person was pretty close to the princess. She was only supposed to be a guest that they had no connection to, and yet he had seen the look that the princess had when they abducted this one.

They knew the princess would do anything to get her back, so the race was against time right now.

The Red mage, descendent of a true demon noble, was their opponent.

Even if they also carried demon blood in them, theirs was far weaker than what that one possessed.

He could play with the laws of nature, create fire out of water, make blood out of winds. With merely a flick of his finger, they had records of him destroying entire towns.

A long, long time ago, he even killed the king of that time because he was being a tyrant. Fought against him alone on a battlefield, facing ten thousand enemies on his own.

He obviously won.

Made it seem like a child’s play, they say.

There were no godly events like that in the current day anymore. But, the stories remain. Just like the White Jackal of Massacre, the Pink Phoenix of Imperial Rune, and the Fox of Doom, there were stories of people, perhaps beings who could bring about inhuman rune to the world.

The Red Mage of Mayn was one such legend.

And right now, he was coming to them.

They were fighting a battle against time.

They needed to get as much info out of her as they could. They at least needed to get a hint about the identity of the one who taught her the sword art.

There was only one way to get what they wanted in that case.

"Open her mouth."

"...wait, sir?"

He took out a glass container from his pocket, a strange insect sitting inside of it.

"We are supposed to use it on-."

"We have no choice. This is more important."

It seems like even Elision had ulterior motives. They surely were one evil back stabbing sons of whores.
