Chapter 1352: Chapter 1328: Courting Death (Part 6)

It seems they underestimated their opponent’s strength; the three big fellows looked clumsy but moved quite swiftly, and their coordination was seamless, as if they were a single person. Chu Qi and Yelü Shou didn’t appear too flustered and held the advantage, yet they remained in a state between defense and attack, unable to resolve the situation quickly and merely constrained one another.

Chu Qi appeared anxious, and sweat trickled down Yelü Shou’s forehead; the two exchanged a glance. Yelü Shou was the first to swing the Ghost Blade, bending down horizontally to cut at the opponent’s feet. Chu Qi immediately punched and knocked one back, flipping over to Yelü Shou’s left side to intercept the big fellow’s retreat.

Just as he was about to hit the big fellow’s back, another had somehow already reached behind Chu Qi, two strong gusts of wind suddenly swept in from both sides, leaving no room for evasion.

For Chu Qi to escape, he would have to give up attacking the big fellow from behind, which would put Yelü Shou in danger. In this dilemma, a lightning-fast silhouette suddenly darted inside, reaching the large man’s rear.

A dull crash sounded, and the brawny man fell to the ground with a thud.

Everyone was stunned by the unexpected development on the scene. "What are you gawking at? These two are yours to handle."

The shadow quickly moved to Quan Mingyuan’s front. Chu Qi and Yelü Shou exhaled a breath of relief, as if the arrival had given them a huge reassurance. With their spirits boosted, they forced the remaining two big fellows back against the wall.

Quan Mingyuan watched the shadow swiftly approach him, then yanked up Murong Lengyue from the ground to shield himself.

Xiao Lin sneered coldly without sparing Murong Lengyue a single glance, instead reaching directly for Quan Mingyuan’s chest, his right hand claw-like, as if to extract his heart.

"Xiao, don’t you care about this woman’s life?" Frightened, Quan Mingyuan jumped back a step, a shining blade placed against Murong Lengyue’s neck. The tip pierced several inches, drawing a droplet of blood from her delicate skin.

Murong Lengyue furrowed her brow, feeling a sting on her neck as if bitten by an insect, sensing something flowing from there.

Xiao Lin curled his lips, his gaze settling on Murong Lengyue’s painful moan. "Is it her you’re referring to?" The pointed tip aimed at Murong Lengyue, and the ruthless eyes caused Murong Lengyue’s heart to seize briefly. She opened her mouth, only to find her throat too dry to produce sound.

"I’m not here to save her!"

As soon as Xiao Lin uttered those words, Murong Lengyue audibly gasped, her original hope in Xiao Lin vanishing into thin air. The burgeoning tears in her beautiful eyes weren’t feigned; as Xiao Lin spoke, all her disappointment poured out.

Quan Mingyuan was also stunned, half doubting Xiao Lin’s words, speculating his intentions.

Just then, a sudden roar broke the silent standoff between the three, followed by the crack of bones. Quan Mingyuan looked toward the source of the sound, seeing two big fellows cut down, seemingly severed at the waist, knees bent on the ground, their upper bodies folded forward, blood squeezed from their backs—one needn’t wonder they were dead.

"Quan Mingyuan, whether you hand over Murong Lengyue makes no difference to me. You’ve hurt her, and someone else will settle with you, without my intervention. However, you and I have other matters to resolve."

Xiao Lin spoke clearly, also distancing himself from any relationship with Murong Lengyue. He beckoned with his finger at Quan Mingyuan. "Your life is mine today."

"Xiao Lin, you wouldn’t dare!" Frightened by Xiao Lin’s grim aura, Quan Mingyuan puffed his chest, pretending indifference.

Xiao Lin snorted coldly, abruptly raising his hand, as Quan Mingyuan stared at him cluelessly.

A bullet landed squarely at Quan Mingyuan’s left foot, ricocheting off the shell, leaving a blood trail on his calf.

"You..."

Xiao Lin demonstrated his resolve through action, leaving Quan Mingyuan no room for hesitation; the spike already aimed for his visage.

Clang! The spike struck against a broad blade; someone intervened before Quan Mingyuan.

Quan Mingyuan exhaled, relieved to see someone appear.

"Why only now? I almost lost my life," Quan Mingyuan impatiently asked the person before him.

Xiao Lin wore a peculiar smile. "Is this your last ace?" Looking past the person in front, Xiao Lin asked Quan Mingyuan behind them. "Even the death prisoners aren’t much."

"Dealing with you, our Shao Junwei is adequate!" As he spoke, Quan Mingyuan placed a hand on Shao Qinyi’s shoulder. "He’s a formidable figure within the committee; Xiao Shao here can’t die by tiny hands. I must find a suitably ranked opponent for you."

"Is that so?" Xiao Lin suddenly stepped back, retracting the spike into his sleeve. "I look forward to Shao Junwei’s prowess."

"What are you standing around for? Attack!" Quan Mingyuan urged as Shao Qinyi stood motionless with a plain cleaver, showing no intention to act.

"Alright!" Shao Qinyi replied audibly for all to hear.

Thud! The raised cleaver flashed silver, followed by a woman’s scream and Quan Mingyuan’s glaring eyes.

"Thank you, Young Master Xiao, for this opportunity." Shao Qinyi forcefully pulled the cleaver from the ground, tossing it aside.

Xiao Lin chuckled icily. "I didn’t give you this chance; you grasped it yourself. He was always destined to die—whose hand hardly matters."

"Shao Qinyi, you... you..." Quan Mingyuan, sprawled on the ground, couldn’t have foreseen such an outcome; his gut torn open, blood gushing forth. ℴ

"You shouldn’t have killed Shao Weihua!" Shao Qinyi turned harshly toward Quan Mingyuan, lifting his foot and fiercely kicking him. Quan Mingyuan’s body flew, crashing against the wall, shaking the scene.

Chu Qi walked forward, using his toe to lift Quan Mingyuan’s head for a glance, then shook his head toward Xiao Lin—not likely to survive.

Murong Lengyue gaped silently, dumbfounded, seated on the floor, staring vacantly at Quan Mingyuan’s corpse in the distance.

"I’ll handle the cleanup." Shao Qinyi retrieved the cleaver, wiping the fingerprints clean. "I owe Young Master Xiao one, but next we meet, we’ll truly be foes."

"So be it!" Xiao Lin chuckled indifferently. For someone like Quan Mingyuan, Xiao Lin disdained to intervene. (To be continued.
