Chapter 1337: Chapter 1313: The Enemy Who Doesn’t Want to Kill

Chu Qi’s expression was quite strange. He intentionally walked towards Xun Xiangxiang, but kept a certain distance. Xiao Lin had been watching him for a while and quietly pulled Chu Qi aside. "What’s wrong?"

"That girl has a fragrance on her, I’m not sure if it’s her." Chu Qi was hesitant. The scent on Xun Xiangxiang was indeed very close to what he smelled last time, but there were differences.

"What’s up, Brother Xiao?" Xun Xiangxiang suddenly noticed Xiao Lin wasn’t by her side and called out after him.

"It’s a bit stuffy here, I want to go out for a walk." Xiao Lin pointed to the garden outside.

"Then I’ll go with you!" Xun Xiangxiang happily walked over and hooked onto Xiao Lin’s arm, but after seeing Chu Qi, she switched to the right side.

"Isn’t this a bit improper?" Xiao Lin deliberately showed a troubled expression.

"It’s okay, anyway, as long as my parents are at this kind of party, it’s fine. Besides Brother Xiao, I’m not interested in other men." Her bold confession made Xiao Lin a little embarrassed.

"Xiangxiang, I..."

"I know you have Sister Xiaoxue, but it’s okay, I can be the little wife." Xun Xiangxiang’s daring words left Xiao Lin speechless. "As long as I’m not the mistress, isn’t the Xiao Family allowed to have many wives?"

The last sentence made Xiao Lin frown. Xun Xiangxiang’s understanding of the Xiao Family was not just average. Traditionally, the Xiao Family only had one legitimate wife, while others without titles could still enjoy all the benefits of being part of the Xiao Family. This tradition was an open secret, many women wanted to become women of the Xiao Family and bear children, hoping that with children, they could rise in status. But Xiao Lin didn’t want to continue this history. Even if he could take over the Xiao Family, he would abolish this custom.

Xiao Lin held Xun Xiangxiang’s hand and led her to the garden. There were no noisy crowds here, nor was the air suffocating. The atmosphere was fresh and comfortable. He looked at Chu Qi, and the latter shook his head, indicating a negative.

Even though Xun Xiangxiang had that fragrance on her, the difference could be identified quickly in the fresh air.

"Xiangxiang, the scent on you is very special. What spice is it made from?" Xiao Lin asked.

"I don’t use perfume!" Xun Xiangxiang stared at Xiao Lin curiously. Did she have a scent? She raised her arm and tried to sniff herself.

"Is it body fragrance?" Xiao Lin teased her by leaning in closer, intentionally sniffing around Xun Xiangxiang, which made her giggle non-stop.

"Brother Xiao, you’re so bad, always teasing me!" Xun Xiangxiang thought Xiao Lin was just playfully teasing her, as she coyly complained, half-joking, half-serious.

"Oh, Young Master Xiao, such good taste! No wonder I didn’t see you inside; it turns out it’s more exciting outside!" The remark carried a hint of jealousy as the long-unseen Murong Lengyue arrived at the garden, followed by Xiao Yue and Young Master Wu.

"Miss Murong!" Xiao Lin stood up politely. "Long time no see!"

"Thanks to Young Master Xiao’s blessings, I’ve been having a peaceful time lately." Although there was hidden meaning in her words, Xiao Lin felt annoyed by Murong Lengyue’s attitude.

"Let me introduce to you, this is..."

"Miss Xun, I know you! Your father made quite a haul tonight, acquiring a lot of valuable antiques." Murong Lengyue chuckled and took Xun Xiangxiang’s hand, giving her a warm hug. "Young Master Xiao certainly has a keen eye. Miss Xun’s wealth is unrivaled even in America."

"Thank you, Miss Murong, for your compliment. Compared to the Murong Clan, we pale in comparison."

"Miss Xun is too modest. I happened to meet your parents earlier. They are about to leave and are looking for you."

"Brother Xiao!" Xun Xiangxiang gazed at Xiao Lin with reluctance to part. Finally meeting Xiao Lin, she didn’t want to separate so soon.

"I’ll take you there. I haven’t had the chance to meet them yet." Xiao Lin nodded at Murong Lengyue and naturally put his arm around Xun Xiangxiang’s shoulder, leading her back into the hall.

Ye Yunyun was a woman of great grace. Xun Xiangxiang didn’t inherit her father’s genes, as they didn’t look alike.

"Young Master Xiao, I hope our Xiangxiang hasn’t troubled you too much." It was Ye Yunyun’s first meeting with Xiao Lin. Before, when they signed the contract in Sin City, it was Xia Xue who hosted them, so she wasn’t aware of Xiao Lin’s role.

"No trouble at all, it’s my pleasure." Xiao Lin smiled and said, while fondly ruffling Xun Xiangxiang’s hair. "I hope to have dinner with both of you sometime."

"Yes, yes!" Xun Xiangxiang cheered happily and started swaying Xiao Lin’s arm. "Brother Xiao, you have to keep your word. I’ll arrange the time and place. You can’t use being busy as an excuse to shirk!"

"Xiangxiang, don’t be rude." Ye Yunyun gently scolded Xun Xiangxiang for being impolite, while apologizing to Xiao Lin.

At this moment, the car to pick them up had already arrived at the gate. Xun Fu was a taciturn person, with an ever-smiling demeanor, nodding and smiling throughout, not saying a word. It seemed that Xun Xiangxiang’s relationship with this father wasn’t very close either.

As the car left, Xiao Lin didn’t return to the hotel hall but walked towards Sin City along the roadside, with Chu Qi following behind.

"Chu Qi, are you sure you smelled that similar fragrance on Xun Xiangxiang?" Xiao Lin was still brooding over this matter.

"I’m certain it’s not her!" Chu Qi confidently answered Xiao Lin’s question.

"I always felt there was something off; this family doesn’t seem quite as harmonious." Intuition told Xiao Lin that Xun Xiangxiang’s family was peculiar. Additionally, he noticed that Ye Yunyun’s gaze was icy when she looked. Suddenly, he turned to Chu Qi.

At the time, Chu Qi was standing behind himself, so perhaps Ye Yunyun wasn’t looking at him but at Chu Qi. "What do you think of Ye Yunyun?"

Chu Qi shook his head; he hadn’t seen anything suspicious about that woman. "Watch out!" Just as he shook his head, out of the corner of his eye, he glimpsed a motorcycle speeding towards them from behind.

Xiao Lin was quickly pushed away by Chu Qi and rolled to the side, with three Silver Needles now in his hand.

At the same time as Xiao Lin hit the ground, the person on the back seat of the motorcycle sprayed bullets at their standing position, but didn’t linger and rode off directly.

Chu Qi raised his gun and looked around. Only after ensuring everything was fine did he stand up.

"Know who they are?" Xiao Lin put away the Silver Needles; their opponent didn’t intend to take their lives—mostly had a warning aspect.

"No license plate."

Not long after the motorcycle sped away, a luxury sports car stopped in front of them. "Young Master Xiao, what happened? I just heard gunfire." Murong Lengyue asked through the window.

"Nothing, just some cockroaches. Miss Murong, be careful on your way back—I saw their direction was towards your residence.

"Let me give you a lift!"

"A sports car fits two people; there are four of us—it’s not suitable. I drove myself here." Xiao Lin politely declined. "Chu Qi, go get the car."

Murong Lengyue took a deep look at Xiao Lin before instructing Xiao Yue to drive.

Suddenly, Xiao Lin realized something and immediately ran towards the direction Chu Qi had gone. Xiao Lin’s car wasn’t parked in the hotel’s underground parking; instead, for convenience, it was parked in the outdoor parking area.

When Xiao Lin reached the parking spot, he saw three people wrestling in the distance, with a motorcycle parked nearby.

It’s the attackers from earlier! Xiao Lin’s left hand moved swiftly, and the three Silver Needles in his hand shot out at an angle, hitting one person’s wrist and knee.

Chu Qi seized the opportunity to kick the opponent in the abdomen, followed by a punch to the head, knocking him unconscious. The other person was still shocked about why their limbs suddenly went numb, realizing their companion had been subdued. When trying to flee, he found his escape route already blocked by another.

"Who are you?" Xiao Lin asked brusquely.

Whizz! A bullet from above shot directly into the person’s brow. Chu Qi was already heading towards the direction the bullet came from, followed by a second bullet hitting the person on the ground in the heart. Xiao Lin looked towards the hotel; the sniper was in this building and, from the range, hiding in one of the rooms.

"Chu Qi!" Xiao Lin called out behind Chu Qi. "Don’t chase!"

"Why?" Chu Qi didn’t understand why Xiao Lin stopped him from pursuing the assassin.

"I know who it is!"

There’s one person he never suspected before: Shao Qinyi, who’s with Quan Mingyuan. The hired assassins were merely some street thugs that money could buy, not death row inmates.

What is Shao Qinyi trying to convey? "These two people weren’t sent to kill me; they seem more like a warning. So this person isn’t sent by the death row people."

"Are they helping us?"

"No! They’re enemies." Xiao Lin gazed at the hotel ahead; in the darkness, every window with light looked like a shining star. But why did he give him such a puzzling warning?

After ambushing him, the motorcyclist returned to the hotel’s parking lot, encountering Murong Lengyue and previously Xun Xiangxiang—both appeared in front of him during the ambush. Is Shao Qinyi hinting at something?

"Shou, check the room numbers of the guests who checked into ’Imperial Capital’ today. I want to know which room Shao Qinyi is in."

Five minutes later, Xiao Lin appeared before room 2909 and rang the doorbell.

Shao Qinyi wasn’t surprised that Xiao Lin showed up here. He glanced at Chu Qi briefly, and stepped aside to let them in.

"With him by your side and wandering around, although the idea is good, such provocation will only hasten Quan Mingyuan’s plan." Shao Qinyi lounged comfortably on the sofa, with a sniper rifle placed by the window. However, when Xiao Lin was looking here earlier, this window was pitch dark. "How did you guess it was me?"

"Among all enemies, the one least likely to want me dead is you."
