Sovereign of the Ashes

Chapter 2063: Auction

Before Sein realised it, the forces at his disposal had already grown to an astonishing scale.

Although he was still only a peak Rank Five mage, Sein now commanded a Rank Six robot, a mecha maid whose combat power rivalled that of a Rank Five mage, and a considerable number of foreign deities, including the God of Black Mist.

Aside from these direct subordinates, the Huusians, the Klytherans, and the planar forces represented by Beatrice and the others who had joined the Magus Alliance and were currently on the distant main battlefield could effectively be counted among Sein’s forces.

On top of that, Sein could also control and deploy the formidable Nexon intelligent robots through the ever-evolving Magic Cube.

At the beginning of the Clash of Civilizations, Sein had been little more than a newly promoted Rank Four mage with shallow roots.

Back then, even at the Magus Alliance Conference, he had needed Grandmaster Feylis to introduce him to others.

Yet after fighting his way through the war, he had finally reached where he was today.

Looking back on everything, even Sein could not help but feel somewhat moved[1].

By the time the next Magus Alliance Conference was held, he should have already advanced to Rank Six.

When that time came, Sein would likely find himself surrounded by people, just as his grandmaster was.

He would have acquaintances throughout the Magus Alliance, along with his own network of allies and business partners.

It was only then that Sein could truly say he had made a name for himself within the Magus Civilization.

The reward session had left the God of Black Mist and the others in high spirits. Sein was in a rather good mood as well.

Through the God of Black Mist and the God of Dusk Desire, he learned that after the Divine Descendants World War ended, the Insectoids, the Dawn Empire, and the demon clan still lingering in the region had begun organising trading events of their own.

These trades allowed the various forces to exchange and circulate the spoils they had obtained during the war.

Naturally, the largest among them was the auction organised by the Arriba Interstellar Chamber of Commerce.

Materials taken from overlord-level beings had even appeared in several recent auctions, sparking a frenzy each time.

“The overlord-level materials that have appeared so far include Venerable Tianyang and Venerable Muge’s overlord Blood, as well as strands of hair belonging to the Divine Descendant Overgod Marduk,” the God of Dusk Desire reported.

As the Rank Four deity responsible for overseeing the economic and trade affairs of Sein’s forces, the God of Dusk Desire was naturally well informed about such matters.

“Oh? Even Venerable Muge’s overlord blood?” Sein asked, immediately intrigued.

“Yes. Due to its exceptionally potent restorative properties, Venerable Muge’s overlord blood has fetched a much higher price than Venerable Tianyang’s overlord blood crystals,” the God of Dusk Desire replied.

“When Venerable Tianyang’s body exploded, many of the powerhouses present on the Divine Descendants World battlefield likely managed to obtain some of his overlord blood crystals. With so many entering the market, their value naturally fell. On the other hand, only a few samples of Venerable Muge’s overlord blood have appeared so far,” he explained respectfully.

Sein nodded.

“Before the next major auction begins, come to my laboratory and inform me.”

“Understood,” the God of Dusk Desire replied.

Fifty-six years later, guided by the God of Dusk Desire, Sein brought Yuri and Fermera to a demiplane outside Divine Descendants World to attend a grand auction hosted by the Arriba Chamber of Commerce.

“Although many races hold auctions of their own, the Arriba Chamber of Commerce still hosts the largest ones. Even the Insectoids and the Dawn Empire send their finest items here. The prices they fetch are much higher. More than enough to cover the commission charged by the chamber, in fact. Many of the alchemy items you entrusted to me have also been sold through their auctions, Master,” the God of Dusk Desire explained respectfully, bowing his head.

In recent years, Sein had already begun preparing to forge the Ashen Scepter. As a result, he often spent long periods conducting alchemy experiments.

Since he was already capable of forging low-tier world-class secret treasures, the quality of the other magic artifacts he produced was naturally nothing to scoff at.

At the very least, they were more than suitable for ordinary Rank Four and Rank Five beings.

Moreover, the magic artifacts crafted by Sein sold extremely well at the Arriba Chamber of Commerce, bringing him considerable profits over the years.

“Why did they choose to hold the auction outside Divine Descendants World?” Sein asked.

The God of Dusk Desire pondered for a moment before answering somewhat hesitantly, “Perhaps they wanted to attract creatures from other star domains?”

“You may not know this, but beings from the planar civilizations surrounding Divine Descendants World attended the previous two auctions. Those outsiders are sometimes far more willing to spend,” he added.

“Oh?” Sein responded, somewhat surprised.

“The last portion of Venerable Muge’s overlord blood was driven to an astronomical price by those beings from other star domains. I heard the one who ultimately secured it was a Rank Six being. However, no one knows exactly what that being looked like. The Arriba Chamber of Commerce keeps the identities of its guests highly confidential,” the God of Dusk Desire explained.

Sein nodded and said nothing more.

Compared with the auction Sein had attended years ago at a large starport outside Magus World, the one organised by the Arriba Interstellar Chamber of Commerce was undoubtedly much... wilder.

The moment Sein arrived at the venue, he saw a Rank Six goddess shackled to a pillar by chains formed from special laws. She was barely clothed, leaving her alluring curves almost entirely exposed.

Even Sein could not help but stare in shock.

This goddess was one of the main attractions of the auction, but her true identity was even more shocking.

She had once been one of Divine Overgod Marduk’s partners!

The partner of an overlord!

The people from the Arriba Interstellar Chamber of Commerce certainly knew how to attract attention.

With a spectacle like this, who knew how many creatures attending the auction had already been driven into a frenzy?

A living Rank Six deity alone would fetch an astronomical price, let alone one who had once been the partner of a peak Rank Seven overgod.

Such was the fate of those who lost in the Clash of Civilizations. Their dignity would be crushed beneath the feet of the victors.

Yet at this moment, not a single creature present seemed to feel the slightest sympathy for the Rank Six goddess.

“In all the auctions I’ve attended within the Magus Civilization, the highest-ranking slave I ever saw was only Rank Five,” Sein exclaimed. “I never imagined Arriba would actually manage to capture a Rank Six goddess alive. How did they do it?”

The God of Dusk Desire lowered his already bowed head even further. He did not know either.

As for the auction of this Rank Six goddess, Sein was merely there to watch.

He certainly had no intention of becoming the fool who spent an absurd amount on something so flashy yet practically useless.

Although she was restrained by law power, Sein could still tell that this goddess was weak even by the standards of Rank Six beings.

The fact that she had been captured alive only proved it further.

Come to think of it, Sein had rarely encountered any native deity of Divine Descendants World who was particularly formidable in battle.

Putting aside the uproar caused by the Rank Six goddess, Sein was far more interested in the next showstopper—Venerable Muge’s overlord blood!

That was the real reason he had come.
