Soul Land 2: Huo Yuhao, Join Sun and Moon
Chapter 602 - 602: Exposing Dai Hao’s True Face!
In the outside world, Huo Yuhao, clad in his black robe, infused his soul power into his voice, making it deeper than usual. His chilling tone echoed through the battlefield:
"First question: Did you ever love Huo Yun'er?"
At these words, Dai Hao froze.
He had assumed they were trying to extract military intelligence from him, so why was this the first question?
He hesitated briefly but then firmly responded:
"Yes. I did."
"You're lying."
Huo Yuhao's divine sense instantly detected the falsehood in Dai Hao's words.
The next moment, Ye Yulin acted without hesitation a golden flash streaked across the battlefield.
With a sharp squelch, the head of a White Tiger Guard exploded in a burst of golden light and blood.
The lifeless corpse collapsed to the ground.
"Ye Yulin! You dare kill my guards in front of me?!"
Dai Hao's rage exploded, his voice booming across the battlefield.
The remaining Star Luo soldiers glared furiously, their previous ceasefire tension instantly escalating into a powder keg ready to ignite.
But Ye Yulin remained unfazed, his expression calm and indifferent.
"Dai Hao, I already warned you answer truthfully or I will execute your soldiers, one by one."
"That was the first. If you want me to continue helping you clear out your own subordinates, I'd be more than happy to oblige."
To him, killing a mere White Tiger Guard was no different from breathing.
Dai Hao's expression darkened.
Initially, he had hoped that a small lie would go unnoticed.
After all, he was a Titled Douluo.
Even if he lied, how could anyone possibly tell?
But now he realized the black-robed figure had a method to detect deception.
A soul skill perhaps?
But… the black-robed man hadn't activated a single soul ring.
He took a deep breath.
If he continued lying, it would only delay their escape further.
As things stood, even with four Titled Douluo and elite Star Luo warriors, they were still being overwhelmed.
Their only chance was to buy time for recovery otherwise, they would all die here.
So, despite having publicly acted like a devoted lover even building a tomb for Huo Yun'er he had never truly cared.
It had all been for appearances, to maintain his image as a "man of deep devotion."
After all, who would want to follow a leader devoid of loyalty?
Moreover, he had another goal to lure his exceptional son, Huo Yuhao, back into the Dai family.
With cold indifference, he spoke:
"I never loved Huo Yun'er."
Inside the Necromantic Subspace, Huo Yun'er froze.
Her ethereal body shivered uncontrollably.
"That's… not true… Hao-ge…" she whispered.
"Why?" Huo Yuhao pressed further.
"You've always claimed to love her. Was that all a lie?"
Dai Hao sighed, his tone laced with mild exasperation:
"Do you really not understand?"
"I was just playing around why would I have ever taken it seriously?"
Inside the mirror, Huo Yun'er's spectral eyes widened in shock.
Her fingers trembled, clutching at the void.
Just… playing around?
Huo Yuhao's voice remained steady:
"Then why did you never officially recognize her? Why didn't you ever give her a title?"
Dai Hao glanced at him.
"You must know Huo Yun'er's background."
"She was just a maid in the Duke's Mansion a servant, property of the Dai family."
"I was not just any noble I was the White Tiger Duke, a trusted figure of the Emperor, a pillar of the empire. If I had married a mere maid, it would have damaged the Dai family's reputation."
"If a lowly servant could rise in status, how would the noble ladies or even the imperial princesses see me?"
"They would think that marrying me was an insult to their bloodline, an embarrassment to their entire family."
"And my family wasn't strong enough to disregard such alliances."
"Marriage is the best way to secure political benefits. If not for the Emperor arranging my marriage, I would have followed my ancestors' path and married a Zhu family woman."
Inside the mirror, Huo Yun'er clutched her chest, her spectral body trembling violently.
Each word struck her like a knife, carving away at the love she had held for decades.
"Then why did you give Huo Yun'er the White Tiger Dagger?"
Dai Hao furrowed his brow, then smirked coldly.
"That? Oh… I was drunk."
"I was drinking some of Shrek Academy's finest wine got carried away, didn't use soul power to sober up, and just blurted out some nonsense."
"The next morning, I was too embarrassed to ask for it back."
"Besides, it was just a fifth-tier melee soul tool. With the Dai family's wealth, who cares?"
"And let's be honest a servant's belongings are my belongings. If anyone asked, I could just say I let her hold onto it for safekeeping."
"She was always loyal and obedient. I knew she would never dare go against me."
Huo Yuhao didn't react.
This was nothing new to him.
After all, when he was two years old, the Duchess had falsely accused his mother of being ill and banished them to a cold, damp storage shack.
Yet, Dai Hao never visited them not even once.
Sure, he had been busy at war, but there were times he returned home.
He had even asked about Huo Yun'er's whereabouts but when the Duchess warned him that she was sick and contagious, he simply accepted it and never went to see her.
A Titled Douluo afraid of catching a mere illness?
It was laughable.
With his cultivation, ordinary illnesses couldn't harm him he simply didn't care enough to visit.
Even if he truly believed she was sick, the Dai family's vast wealth could have easily hired a healing-type soul master to treat her.
But he never did.
Because, to him, Huo Yun'er was just a servant.
At that moment, the remaining Star Luo soldiers felt uneasy.
The man before them felt unfamiliar a stark contrast to the devoted leader they once knew.
Even some of the White Tiger Guards exchanged uncertain glances.
Had they idolized a false image all along?
If his "love" had been a lie, then what about his "compassion" for his soldiers?
Was that a lie too?
Dai Hao noticed the shift in morale but remained unconcerned.
Once he escaped, he could silence whoever necessary.
But the most shattered person of all…
Was Huo Yun'er.
Her ghostly body convulsed, like a fragile leaf caught in a storm.
Her entire world collapsed.
She had spent a lifetime believing in Dai Hao's love.
But now…
Everything she ever believed in had been a lie.
