Chapter 115: Chapter 115: The Little Cub’s Sneak-Out Plan

The money problem was solved, but the question was...

How were they going to get out the front door?

The adults, including Nan Zhi, were all busy with their own tasks.

Some were prepping food, some were wiping down tables, and others had gone to check on the shop next door, which was set to open today.

No one noticed the four little ones huddled in a corner, putting their heads together.

"We have to go in secret."

Qing Xi’s expression was grave.

It was as if he were planning something earth-shattering!

Qi Zhang nodded in agreement.

Xie An’an was curious and eager to join in.

Only Nan Yi refused without a second thought.

"I have to tell my mom!"

With that, he turned to go.

"You can’t!"

With perfect coordination, Qing Xi and Qi Zhang reached out, grabbing Nan Yi by his left and right arms and dragging him back.

Nan Yi: !

’He couldn’t believe he hadn’t reacted in time!’

Embarrassed, his brows furrowed in displeasure. Nan Yi asked:

"Why can’t I? My mom and I don’t have secrets!"

His expression then turned a little proud.

Qing Xi stated matter-of-factly:

"If they find out, they definitely won’t let us go out alone!"

Without a second thought, Nan Yi retorted:

"My mom will!"

He was one hundred percent confident!

"My little uncle won’t."

Qing Xi was also one hundred percent confident.

Even Nan Yi couldn’t think of a comeback.

After much thought, and with Qing Xi and Qi Zhang’s desperate pleading, he reluctantly agreed.

And so, the little ones’ great escape plan was set in motion—

Luckily, there were only two people in the restaurant right now: Nan Zhi in the kitchen and Fu Chao in the main dining area.

As long as they avoided them, the kids could slip away successfully.

Qing Xi stepped forward to volunteer:

"Okay, here’s the plan! We pretend to help, then go out to the dining area. I’ll distract my little uncle while you guys... you guys go on ahead. I’ll find a chance to get out later!"

Qi Zhang was aghast.

"What if you can’t get out?"

"I... I’ll try my best! If it really doesn’t work, then you guys just go eat. Don’t worry about me!"

Qing Xi’s expression was so resolute, it looked as though he was about to face a heroic death.

It was, quite frankly, hilarious.

Qing Xi and Qi Zhang were both earnestly heartbroken.

Xie An’an twisted her fingers worriedly.

Only Nan Yi was completely exasperated.

"Why can’t we just walk out in the open?"

"I just said, my little uncle..."

"We can just say we’re going to the shop next door. Qi Pei’er is over there with her father."

The shop next door was the dessert shop that Qi Pei’er had originally won in the lottery.

Because she had been too busy to manage it, it had never been put to use.

That changed yesterday, when two NPCs from the production team were added to help. After a day of adjustment, their efficiency had improved dramatically.

So, Nan Zhi suggested they could expand into the shop next door and add more tables.

After everyone unanimously agreed, they were set to clean and furnish it today.

If their excuse for going out was to help next door...

"Great idea!"

Qing Xi patted Nan Yi’s shoulder in amazement, praising him for his quick thinking.

Nan Yi: ...

They finally put their plan into action.

Qing Xi led the way, trying his best to look calm and natural... and immediately started walking with an unnatural gait, swinging his right arm with his right leg.

Nan Yi, walking behind him, couldn’t stand it any longer and pulled him aside.

"Let me."

He then walked out of the kitchen as naturally as could be, passing by Fu Chao, who was diligently wiping tables in the dining area.

As expected, Fu Chao called out to them.

"Hey! Where are you guys going?"

Nan Yi turned back.

"Going to check on the place next door."

Fu Chao didn’t suspect a thing.

"All of you are going? Alright, then remember to come back soon, and don’t wander off!"

"Mm-hm."

The four little ones all nodded in unison.

The scene looked a little too rehearsed.

But Fu Chao still didn’t notice anything, continuing to wipe his tables.

The little ones made their getaway.

They had just left.

When the NPCs from the production team arrived.

As it happened, the NPCs were coming from the shop next door.

After looking around and not seeing the children, they casually asked:

"Where are the kids?"

Fu Chao looked up, completely oblivious, and asked in confusion:

"Didn’t they go next door? You didn’t see them?"

"No, we didn’t."

Fu Chao belatedly realized something was wrong.

He was a little panicked, wanting to rally everyone to search for them, but was also worried about causing a big commotion over what might just be a false alarm.

Then, Nan Zhi walked out of the kitchen.

"Don’t worry, I had an assistant director follow them."

Fu Chao was completely baffled.

"Huh? When?"

[Brother Fu, oh Brother Fu, you never break character, do you? How could you miss such a massive plot hole right in front of you!]

[While the kids were plotting, Nan Zhi was eavesdropping the whole time, trying her best to hold back her laughter. Must’ve been tough.]

[Xiao Xi is hilarious. He’s so earnest, it’s comical.]

[Shut your mouth! Don’t you talk about our dear Xixi like that! He was being very serious!]

[So Fu Chao really didn’t notice? I thought he was acting just like Nan Zhi, hahaha!]

[Nan Zhi truly saw through everything. I bet her internal monologue was just—’Hurry up and go. If you don’t leave soon, I’ll have to kick you out myself.’]

[She protects the kids’ innocence while still watching over them from the shadows. You can only say that Nan Zhi’s gentleness is incredibly thoughtful.]

...

The livestream hadn’t been on for long, but the screen was already flooded with comments full of love and admiration for Nan Zhi.

And it was true.

After following the livestream for so many episodes, the vast majority of viewers who once disliked Nan Zhi had either stopped being haters, started worshipping her ability to carry the show, or had come to admire her unique charisma.

It was truly hard not to love her.

As for Fu Chao, after he figured out what had happened, his head was full of questions.

"So, all of you knew, and I was the only one left in the dark?"

’So I was the only clown here?’

Seeing Fu Chao looking a little aggrieved, Nan Zhi comforted him:

"Your performance was more realistic precisely because you didn’t know."

Fu Chao, the three-time Film Emperor: ...

"But where did they go?"

"To get something to eat. Don’t worry, they won’t go far."

As Nan Zhi spoke, she deliberately walked to the shop’s entrance to look out.

Fu Chao followed behind her.

He had sharp eyes and immediately spotted the little ones happily running around.

"They look pretty happy."

If Nan Zhi hadn’t stopped him, Fu Chao really wanted to go up and burst their happy bubble.

Nan Zhi, however, watched Nan Yi’s back as he mingled with the others—

He was sandwiched between Qing Xi and Qi Zhang and, looking a bit impatient, said something to them.

Qing Xi and Qi Zhang exchanged a look, then jumped and pounced on Nan Yi.

Nan Yi leaned his head back to struggle free.

Xie An’an stood to the side, covering her mouth and giggling.

...What a beautiful scene.

Nan Zhi hoped to soothe Nan Yi’s anxiety.

She also hoped he could interact with children his own age and enjoy the childhood innocence and happiness he deserved.

’If his fear stemmed from having too little, then what would happen if his world became richer and more colorful?’

Shortly after, Nan Zhi returned to the kitchen and made some crispy candy.

When Nan Yi and the others returned, full and content, she handed a bag of the crispy candy to Nan Yi as a snack, once again saying nothing about sharing it with the others.

Nan Yi, however, thought for a moment before taking the bag of crispy candy and going back out.

A moment later, the sound of children’s laughter and cheers came from the main dining area.

A slow smile spread across Nan Zhi’s face.
