Chapter 64: Sent Flying with a Single Slap
Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Sent Flying with a Single Slap
The man who had been spewing curses was being crushed by Lin Jingjing’s formidable and oppressive spiritual power.
This was the first time Lin Jingjing had used her spiritual power since waking up, and she found it was far more potent and overbearing than before.
Lin Jingjing was rather surprised. ’How did my spiritual power get this strong?’
Aidan was unaffected, as her spiritual power had deliberately avoided him.
Seeing the man sprawled on the ground, spitting up blood, Aidan let go of the redhead, walked over, and kicked him.
"Who are you calling a scumbag?" Aidan continued to kick him. "You insult and slander fallen soldiers. You’re the real scumbags."
Aidan kept kicking, cursing all the while, as Lin Jingjing watched from the side.
The cafeteria was crowded. Because Lin Jingjing’s spiritual power was so overwhelmingly potent, many people couldn’t withstand it for long before collapsing unconscious.
The commotion in the cafeteria soon attracted the attention of the higher-ups.
Beisang was discussing arrangements for the military competition the First Corps would be hosting in a few months when someone suddenly darted in front of them.
Panic was written all over the man’s face. When he saw he was standing before Beisang, he immediately grew timid.
"Chief... Chief Bei."
The man standing beside Beisang reprimanded him. "What’s all the fuss? Have you no composure?"
"There’s trouble at the cafeteria!" the soldier shouted, pointing in its direction. "Someone unleashed their spiritual power! A lot of people have passed out."
"Some are even spitting up blood."
"Please, you have to go save them! If they don’t get treatment, their Spiritual Worlds will suffer necrosis!"
At these words, the expressions of everyone present turned grim.
Beisang immediately broke into a run toward the cafeteria. A crowd had already gathered about five or six meters from the entrance.
Four or five people lay at the cafeteria entrance. They were sprawled on the ground, spitting up blood, their hands still reaching out as they tried to crawl away.
The arrival of Beisang and her entourage prompted the spectating soldiers to part, clearing a path.
Reaching the front of the crowd, Beisang took a step forward and immediately felt how formidable the spiritual power truly was.
She enveloped herself in her own spiritual power and walked into the cafeteria.
Once inside, Beisang scanned the crowd and quickly located the source of the incident.
To her surprise, Lin Jingjing was part of it.
And... this immense spiritual power seemed to be radiating from her.
Beisang couldn’t help but feel a flicker of doubt.
’Isn’t Lin Jingjing supposed to have Grade D spiritual power? How could she be emitting a force this powerful?’
"Lin Jingjing," Beisang called out, standing nearby.
Hearing her name, Lin Jingjing looked up to see Beisang standing not far away, clad in a white military uniform.
"Chief Bei, how can I help you?" Lin Jingjing asked, standing ramrod straight with a faint smile on her face.
"Rein in your spiritual power," Beisang advised.
"Many people here can’t withstand your spiritual power. The ones with lower grades have already coughed up blood and passed out."
Upon hearing this, Lin Jingjing quickly retracted her spiritual power.
Once the immense pressure vanished, everyone in the cafeteria let out a silent, collective sigh of relief.
’Her spiritual power is that high?’
Lin Jingjing rubbed the back of her head, chuckling sheepishly. "Sorry about that. I didn’t realize that would happen."
"Is everyone okay now?"
Beisang shot her a sidelong glance before turning her gaze to Aidan.
"What are you doing?" Beisang’s voice was frigid. Having held the position of Chief for so long, even a simple question from her carried an immense pressure.
Aidan, however, was unfazed. He stood there, methodically wiping the blood from the back of his hand with a white tissue. Only after it was clean did he speak.
"Because they were asking for it."
"Fighting is a punishable offense," Beisang continued, her brow furrowed and her imposing presence intensifying. "In serious cases, the punishment is more than twenty strokes of the rod."
Aidan shrugged, his expression nonchalant. "Punish me if you want."
"But I want you to know what started it." With that, Aidan activated his Star Ring, playing back the group’s earlier conversation.
Aidan had apparently come prepared; his Star Ring was connected to the cafeteria’s speakers as he played the recording.
In that moment, their conversation was heard crystal clear by everyone, both inside and outside the cafeteria.
Upon hearing the playback, the group’s already pale faces turned even whiter.
They never imagined that the words they’d spouted while shooting their mouths off would actually be recorded.
Much less broadcast for all to hear.
A severe punishment was sure to await them now.
One of the group, indignant, rushed forward and yelled, "We were just shooting our mouths off! What right do you have to record us?!"
"We weren’t being disrespectful, we were just complaining that our monthly pay is too low! You have to let us vent!"
"Hah," Aidan sneered. "I never said you couldn’t complain about your pay. But doing it by trampling on the memory of fallen soldiers—that’s what’s wrong."
Aidan then recited the slanderous line from the recording: "I’m starting to suspect they died in the mouths of those mutant beasts on purpose."
"Did they die in the mouths of those mutant beasts on purpose? Did they do it to scam the compensation funds?"
"Answer my question."
Hearing this, the man was left speechless, any rebuttal dying in his throat.
Then, throwing all caution to the wind, he yelled, "That’s right! I can’t stand the thought of them getting millions of Star Coins! All they did was die! What’s the use of giving them so much compensation?!"
"It would be better to give it to those of us who are still alive! They only died because they were too weak!"
The words had barely left his mouth when he was sent flying across the room.
A single slap had sent him flying, embedding him in a nearby wall.
All eyes fell on Lin Jingjing, because a hand formed from pure spiritual power had just materialized and slapped the man across the face.
The slap was delivered with full force, knocking out several of the man’s teeth.
Lin Jingjing stood to the side with her arms crossed. Noticing the stares, she shrugged and explained, "I couldn’t help it. What he said was too vile, and I just snapped."
Beisang remained silent, her probing gaze lingering on Lin Jingjing for a long moment, but she ultimately said nothing.
Averting her gaze, she shouted, "Someone, take all of these men into custody immediately."
At her command, several soldiers and robots emerged from the crowd, subdued the men, and led them away. The one who had been slapped into the wall was pried loose by a robot, made to ingest a Recovery Potion, and then taken away as well.
"You two, with me." After saying this, Beisang turned and left. Outside the cafeteria, she spotted the director of the military hospital. "Make sure everyone who coughed up blood or fainted receives proper treatment. There can be no mistakes."
"Yes, ma’am!" the woman in the white lab coat responded immediately.
