Sorry, Our Captain Is a True All-Rounder

Chapter 51: The Ground Split Open

Chapter 51: Chapter 51: The Ground Split Open

Shi Feng nodded in agreement. "That’s a good question. We’d also like to know why these mutant beasts are here."

Hearing this, the boy’s eyes widened in disbelief, his voice rising several octaves. "You don’t know either?"

Shi Feng shrugged, a helpless look on his face. "Look, kid, we were just here for fun, too. How would we know?"

The fact that no one knew sent the boy into an even deeper panic.

’What would happen if these mutant beasts escaped from Hong Fei Park...’

The boy could already imagine the bustling metropolis nearby turning into a living hell.

"Call the police! I have to call the police!" the boy shouted, then activated his Star Ring to make the call.

"We already did. Be quiet," Lin Jingjing said, her expression as frosty as ever. She gave him a cold look.

Perhaps it was Lin Jingjing’s impatient tone or the severity of her expression, but the boy immediately fell silent.

He shrank back, pursing his lips and saying no more, but his eyes kept darting back to Lin Jingjing.

Everyone fell silent, their worried gazes turning to Gu Kaiwen.

Some time passed. Gu Kaiwen, who had been laid to the side, finally stirred, his eyelids fluttering open.

Seeing him awake, the others broke into ecstatic expressions. Feng He rushed to ask, "Are you hurt anywhere?"

"You have to tell me."

Gu Kaiwen shook his head. His entire body was just one big ache.

"My back... hurts," Gu Kaiwen said weakly. "Painkillers... need some..."

Hearing this, Feng He just shook his head. "We don’t have any. You’ll have to bear with it."

’This pain is unbearable.’

"Hey, man, are you okay?" the boy asked excitedly, rushing over and grabbing Gu Kaiwen’s hand.

The sudden movement made the wound on Gu Kaiwen’s back throb with even more pain.

"Hurts... hurts..." Gu Kaiwen tried to pull his hand back, but he was too weak and could only endure it.

Seeing this, Feng He quickly rescued Gu Kaiwen from the boy’s grasp and told him sternly, "Don’t just grab him, he’s injured."

Realizing his mistake, the boy pursed his lips and apologized guiltily.

"I’m sorry."

After they waited in place for twenty minutes, He Shian arrived on the scene with his team.

Members of the First and Second Squads immediately disembarked from their military vehicles. They wore black combat uniforms and black masks covering their faces, each holding a firearm with a particularly grim expression.

Without seeing their faces, they looked cool and imposing.

He Shian walked over with his men and looked at the group. "Is everyone alright?"

Gu Fei saw him, crossed her arms, and huffed. "One of us is on the ground. Of course something’s wrong."

"Heh heh," Gu Kaiwen laughed awkwardly, scratching his head.

"It happened while I was saving someone," Gu Kaiwen explained.

He Shian’s gaze swept over him, then he nodded. "Hm. You’ve got the makings of a soldier."

After speaking, He Shian waved a hand and ordered, "Two of you, get this civilian to safety."

The boy looked at He Shian standing not far in front of him, his eyes shining. ’It’s Admiral He!’

’Running into this disaster was terrible luck, but getting to meet Admiral He makes me feel incredibly fortunate.’

Before the boy could say anything, two soldiers flanked him and lifted him up, sending him into a panic.

"Let me go! I’m not leaving!" the boy yelled, struggling. "I haven’t even repaid them for saving my life! I don’t even know their names yet!"

"At least let me add them as a friend!" the boy kept shouting, refusing to leave.

He dug his heels into the ground, his whole body resisting.

His bright eyes were fixed on the five of them.

The two soldiers didn’t know what to do. They looked to He Shian, their faces full of difficulty.

In the end, it was Lin Jingjing who stood up and added him as a friend. "Your name is Batulu?"

"Yes, yes, yes!" Batulu nodded repeatedly.

"Right, we know. Now go. It won’t be worth it if you end up dead," Lin Jingjing said, waving her hand dismissively.

Batulu was finally dragged away. He watched as the group of people slowly shrank in his vision until they disappeared.

"They’ll come back safe, right?" Batulu asked the soldiers, a wave of unease washing over him as he remembered the terrifying Steel Beast.

The soldiers just gave him a passing glance and grunted in response.

After escorting the civilian out of Hong Fei Park, the two soldiers returned the way they came. The entire park was now surrounded by Single Pilot Mechas, ensuring no mutant beast could dream of escaping.

In the park, He Shian had already arranged for his people to begin a full-scale search, determined to gun down every last mutant beast.

"Don’t you need to be sent back?" Gu Fei asked, looking at Gu Kaiwen, who was leaning against a tree.

Gu Kaiwen immediately waved his hands. "No, no, I’ll be fine after a little rest."

Hearing this, Feng He clapped him on the shoulder. "Don’t push yourself."

"Mhm."

Finally, He Shian glanced at the group, then turned and left.

Hong Fei Park was massive. The two squads, numbering in the hundreds, searched with detectors from dawn till dusk, but found nothing.

Gu Fei rubbed her head and asked, "We’ve turned this whole place upside down and still haven’t seen a single mutant beast. You don’t think they just ran here from somewhere else, do you?"

He Shian, who was standing nearby, heard her and scanned the area. Besides the sounds of conversation and footsteps, it was completely silent.

Forget mutant beasts; there wasn’t even the chirp of a single bird.

"Keep looking," He Shian replied. "We have to be absolutely certain."

"We can’t assume it’s safe just because we haven’t found anything yet."

"If a Steel Beast could appear here, there are bound to be other mutant beasts."

Hearing He Shian’s words, Gu Fei grumbled to herself but didn’t say anything more.

Lin Jingjing and the others also searched for a long time without finding anything. The group took a break, standing beside a large banyan tree.

Feng He frowned. "You think we already killed all the mutant beasts here?"

"We’ve been searching for so long without seeing a shadow of a mutant beast," Shi Feng said, squatting on the ground and poking at the dirt with a stick. He couldn’t stop complaining. "My one day off, ruined by these damn mutant beasts. And now we have to help look for them."

"SOB, my vacation!" Shi Feng was furious. He’d worked himself to the bone for a month just for this one day off, and now it was gone.

Shi Feng raised his fists and started pounding the earth. A month of special training had made him much stronger.

Every punch was delivered with full force, purely to vent his frustration.

As he kept punching, Shi Feng noticed the ground beneath his feet was starting to give way.

He looked down and saw that the ground where they were standing had cracked and they were beginning to sink.

"Holy shit!" Shi Feng jumped to his feet and swore in surprise. "Look at the ground!"

The others heard him and looked down, realizing he was right.

Shi Feng lifted his foot and stomped down hard, wanting to see if it would really collapse.

That one stomp was all it took. The ground beneath them immediately began to cave in.
