Sorry, Our Captain Is a True All-Rounder

Chapter 48: Group Photo

Chapter 48: Chapter 48: Group Photo

Another customer left. The manager thought of this month’s dismal sales.

Even with her good temper, the manager was infuriated by her behavior. "Xiao Cha, are you deliberately trying to cause trouble?" The manager’s voice grew stern as she looked at her.

A suppressive aura was released at that moment. Xiao Cha was just an ordinary person. Feeling such overwhelming pressure for the first time, she collapsed to the ground, unable to even stand.

She reached out and grabbed the manager’s ankle, her voice strained as she begged for mercy. "Manager, please spare me. I’ll leave right now."

The manager was a Grade B Spiritual Ability User. A look of disdain filled her eyes.

"I gave you a chance, but you didn’t take it. Now you’re just groveling on the floor, wailing." As the manager spoke, she increased the pressure. Xiao Cha couldn’t take it anymore. She coughed up a mouthful of blood and fainted.

The group of five had no idea this was happening in the store. They eventually found a cheaper clothing store on the basement level, where the service was much better.

After they each picked out two outfits, they paid and headed into a supermarket.

When they reached the personal care aisle and saw the prices of everyday items like body wash and shampoo, their eyes went wide.

Feng He gasped, "This is so expensive!"

Lin Jingjing casually picked up a bottle. The price was 350 Star Coins!

Back when they had money, this wouldn’t have seemed expensive.

But now that they had to pinch every penny, the price seemed outrageous.

"Let’s see if we can find something cheaper." Lin Jingjing put the bottle back and began carefully scanning the shelves for the cheapest option.

After a bit of searching, they found a two-liter bottle of body wash for eighty Star Coins and grabbed four of them.

They did the same with the shampoo, picking out the cheapest one they could find.

"Our standard of living has really hit rock bottom," Shi Feng said, shaking his head with a sigh.

"Rome wasn’t built in a day. We’ll get there," Lin Jingjing said comfortingly. She put an arm around his shoulders and smiled. "We’ve already made some money running errands for people, right? We’ll only earn more and more from now on."

As Shi Feng thought about the balance in their account, the worried expression on his face slowly faded.

"Right. We’re going to make a name for ourselves, live on the most prosperous planet, and earn our place among the elite." They had been in this place for so long, and they couldn’t go back.

’Since that’s the case, we’ll just have to follow Sister Lin’s lead and climb our way up, one step at a time.’

"In any case, I refuse to be poor forever," Shi Feng said with great seriousness.

Lin Jingjing patted his head and said with a smile, "I can’t accept being poor either."

After buying their necessities, they also picked up some food. When they checked out, they all winced at the total.

’So expensive!’

After leaving the supermarket and the mall, they took a hovercar to the place they had decided on the previous night.

「Hong Fei Park.」

There weren’t many people at the park. The trees were lush and verdant, and a cool breeze could be felt standing in their shade.

"Ah, it’s so cool here," Lin Jingjing said, walking ahead. The gentle breeze fanned away the sweltering heat from her body.

The others followed behind, taking in the sights.

"It really is nice and cool here," Feng He said with a smile. The group found a spot to sit down and gaze at the distant scenery.

The place was undeniably beautiful. In the distance was a large lake, its surface sparkling under the sun.

Some small creatures were playing in the lake. Undisturbed by anyone, the little critters seemed to be having a wonderful time.

The sun was bright and warm. They sat down and began to take out the snacks they had bought.

They sat at a nearby stone table, eating their snacks and occasionally gazing into the distance, feeling a sense of peace.

Lin Jingjing and Mo Xuan remained seated, the more composed of the group, while the other three had already run off to play.

The trio’s roughhousing startled the nearby birds, which flapped their wings and flew up into the branches.

"Stone Peak, you wanna die?!" Gu Kaiwen yelled, scrambling up from the ground and shouting at Shi Feng, who was already running away.

"I don’t wanna die!" Shi Feng shouted back, already far in the distance.

Lin Jingjing, a cookie in hand, watched the three of them.

Watching them fool around, she felt like she was back in the old days, before they had all been separated.

They would play all over the large courtyard, and often, those three would start fighting for no reason at all.

’It was noisy, but it was also lively and exciting.’

"It makes me so nostalgic," Lin Jingjing sighed.

Mo Xuan, who was beside her, asked, "Nostalgic for what?"

"We never got together like this after we went our separate ways," Lin Jingjing said with a smile. "And I haven’t seen them roughhouse like this in a very long time."

"They all tried to act mature after they started their careers," Mo Xuan explained with a smile. "They thought they were adults and couldn’t mess around like this anymore, or people would think they were flighty. But now that it’s just the five of us, with nothing holding them back, they’ve naturally reverted."

When their roughhousing was about over, Lin Jingjing was the first to stand up. She called out to them, "Let’s go! On to the next spot."

"Right!"

Lin Jingjing followed a map, leading them up a path. The trees planted along it were huge.

Looking at them, Lin Jingjing started estimating their age with Mo Xuan. "This one must be at least fifty years old, don’t you think?"

Mo Xuan shook his head. "A hundred years."

When they saw the informational plaque, they both fell silent. They hadn’t expected the tree to be one hundred and fifty years old.

"What an old tree," Lin Jingjing said with a chuckle, raising a hand to stroke its massive trunk.

"AHHH, Sister Lin!" Feng He’s voice rang out from behind them. Lin Jingjing turned and asked with a smile, "What’s wrong?"

"Those two are bullying me!" Feng He’s clothes were disheveled, and she pointed at the two boys beside her, her voice filled with righteous indignation.

Seeing the grass stuck in Feng He’s hair, Lin Jingjing couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

She walked over, still laughing. "I’ll help you get them back." But as soon as the words were out, she couldn’t hold it in anymore and bent over, howling with laughter.

Seeing Lin Jingjing laughing so hard, Feng He gave up on her complaint and simply rushed forward to hug her.

"Sister Lin, you can’t laugh at me!" Feng He cried, shaking her as she hugged her. Lin Jingjing steadied her by the shoulders. "Okay, okay, I won’t laugh."

After their bout of silliness, they continued up the path. The trees grew denser here, and much older.

The crowds thinned out, and by the time they reached their destination, there was no one else around.

They were standing on a flat clearing. A large banyan tree grew at the edge, its trunk crooked and leaning far out over the side.

A swing set had been built in the clearing. It swayed gently in the breeze.

The moment she saw it, Feng He ran over. "A swing!"

"Sister Lin, let’s swing together!"

Lin Jingjing did as she asked, walking over and sitting on the other swing.

Mo Xuan and Gu Kaiwen started pushing them from behind, while Shi Feng fiddled with his Star Ring and then shouted, "Let’s take a group photo!"

At the mention of a photo, everyone struck a pose, trying to look their best for the picture.

Just as the first photo was taken, while they were still immersed in their happy moment, the figure of a mutant beast emerged from behind the large tree.

No one noticed.
