Chapter 47: Making Trouble
Chapter 47: Chapter 47: Making Trouble
All five of them were pretty good-natured, but right now, they were infuriated by the salesperson’s attitude.
Lin Jingjing rolled her eyes at her, then started looking for the manager.
"Where’s your manager?"
"She stepped out."
The manager, who had been slacking off in the fitting room, heard someone call for her, stood up, and walked out.
She was wearing a professional suit. She walked up to Lin Jingjing and asked with a pleasant smile, "Hello, is there a problem?"
Lin Jingjing stood before her and asked, "You hire people to serve customers, don’t you?"
"Yes, looking after our customers’ feelings is something every salesperson should do," the manager replied with a smile. Her attitude was particularly friendly, and she didn’t become arrogant or displeased just because Lin Jingjing’s group was poorly dressed.
"Then, as consumers, are we allowed to touch the clothes on display here?" Lin Jingjing asked again.
"Of course." The manager nodded again in response. "As consumers, you have every right to touch them."
With every word the manager spoke, the salesperson behind her grew a shade paler.
"And as employees here, do they have the right to insult and hit customers?" Lin Jingjing asked again.
"Insulting and hitting customers is absolutely forbidden." The manager’s expression turned serious as she said this.
The implication was clear, and the manager guessed something must have happened.
She asked with a smile, "Did you run into a problem?"
Lin Jingjing turned, pointed, and said, "She insulted a customer and even tried to hit her. She looks down on the poor and fawns over the rich."
The salesperson immediately came over to explain, "I didn’t! I just didn’t want them to get the clothes dirty. Besides, they’re dressed so shabbily, they couldn’t possibly afford to pay if they dirtied the clothes."
"There’s nothing wrong with how we’re dressed," Shi Feng said seriously, walking over. "If you’re treating us this way because of our clothes, then why is your store even open for business?"
"You should just sell online or only to rich people."
After hearing this, the manager’s face darkened. She looked at the salesperson, her expression grim.
This wasn’t the first time.
Many people had complained to her about Xiao Cha’s discriminatory treatment. At first, the manager would clean up her messes and smooth things over.
Now, she felt that Xiao Cha was no longer suitable for this job. This store wasn’t a high-end brand, after all.
The prices were a bit lower than other stores, as they were going for a more customer-friendly approach.
But Xiao Cha always drove away real customers, which was also why the store’s sales figures never met their targets.
The manager was tired. She didn’t want to clean up her messes anymore.
"Xiao Cha, apologize to the customers," the manager said, looking at the young woman beside her.
Hearing this, Xiao Cha reluctantly apologized to them. "Sorry."
But there wasn’t a hint of sincerity in it.
"Heh, this store of yours is really something else," Gu Kaiwen said with a cold laugh.
"You will give us a satisfactory answer today," Mo Xuan said, taking a step forward. His face was like ice as he stared at the two women.
No one was going to get away with trying to hit his wife.
The manager heard this and immediately replied, "Don’t worry, I will definitely give you a satisfactory answer."
After speaking, she turned to Xiao Cha and said, "You’re fired. I’ll have the finance department settle this month’s salary for you in a bit."
Xiao Cha wore an expression of disbelief. ’The manager really fired me?’
"Manager Xu, you can’t do this to me."
"I can’t lose this job." Xiao Cha was starting to panic.
"You should have been fired long ago for the things you’ve done," the manager retorted. "I didn’t fire you before because I knew you had difficulties at home."
"But instead of improving, you’ve only gotten worse. This humble shop can’t house a ’great Buddha’ like you. Please find employment elsewhere."
They hadn’t expected the manager to fire her right in front of all five of them. The sudden turn of events left them all a little surprised.
’Did the manager want to fire her for a while now, and just used this as an opportunity to do it sooner?’
Xiao Cha was in a full-blown panic. Her loan wasn’t paid off yet, rent was due, and the thought of debt collectors showing up at her door and her boyfriend finding out made her feel sick.
"Ma’am, please give me one more chance. I won’t do it again."
"I really need this job."
Hearing Xiao Cha’s words, the five of them fell silent.
’She’s from a similar social class as us. Why is she so contemptuous and mocking toward people from that same class?’
Lin Jingjing watched the scene before her, her lips pressed together, not saying a word.
Gu Kaiwen gave Shi Feng a nudge and said, "Go pick out a few outfits. Let’s buy them and get out of here."
"There’s nothing worth seeing in this crappy mall anyway."
"We’d be better off looking at some nice scenery."
"Oh..." Shi Feng replied, then went to pick out some clothes. The manager saw this and hurried over to assist him.
She completely ignored Xiao Cha. Meanwhile, Xiao Cha stood there, lightly biting her lower lip, looking pitiful and utterly wronged.
Seeing that begging the manager wasn’t working, she turned her attention to Lin Jingjing.
She walked over and looked at Lin Jingjing with reddened eyes, saying, "Miss, can you please put in a good word for me? I really can’t lose this job."
"My mother is sick. She needs lots and lots of Star Coins for her treatment."
"I want to save money to take her away from B6 Star to a better planet."
Lin Jingjing ignored her, standing next to Feng He and watching her pick out a dress.
Feng He couldn’t decide, so she turned to her and asked, "Which one do you think suits me?"
"The apricot-colored one." Lin Jingjing pointed to the apricot-colored dress on the left.
"I think this one suits me better too." Feng He was happy to get an answer that matched her own opinion.
Seeing them ignore her, Xiao Cha’s mind raced. Then, she gritted her teeth and dropped to her knees.
After kneeling, she reached out to grab Lin Jingjing’s pant leg, but Lin Jingjing dodged away.
"Manager, why is your employee so quick to kneel to people?" Lin Jingjing shouted, looking at the kneeling woman while pulling Feng He’s hand and taking a step to the side.
"We’re just customers. Is she trying to guilt-trip us?"
"Is it our fault she lost her job?"
The manager was still helping the others when she heard Lin Jingjing and turned to see the scene.
Xiao Cha was kneeling on the floor, looking pitiful, as if Lin Jingjing and her friends were bullying her.
She bowed her head slightly, revealing her fair neck, a picture of pitiable beauty.
It was just a pity that no one present was moved to pity.
"Xiao Cha, have you made enough of a scene?!" The manager strode over, pulled her up from the floor, her voice turning cold.
"If you keep making this unreasonable scene, I’ll make you regret it."
At this, Xiao Cha’s tears started to fall. "Manager, you can’t treat me like this."
Hearing that, an understanding dawned on Lin Jingjing. ’She’s a ’green tea’.’
"Let’s go," Lin Jingjing said, pulling Feng He’s hand and turning to leave. "I wouldn’t dare shop in a store where the employees kneel at the drop of a hat."
