Chapter 684: You Really Have… Fallen in Love with Evelyn Morgan

Taking a deep breath, Eleanor Keaton choked up as she continued, "At that time, I thought for a very long time, about you beside Evelyn and you who were by my side."

As Eleanor spoke, she kept her eyes fixed on Caden Lockwood, but he kept his head down, as if she didn’t exist, continuing to handle his business affairs.

Eleanor’s heart ached. She clutched her chest, having once loved him so sincerely, yet he offered her not a drop of pity!

"I know, I just didn’t want to admit it all along, but actually, you have... fallen in love with Evelyn." At this, Eleanor cried out loud.

Caden Lockwood’s brows were furrowed, his patience clearly pushed to the limit.

He disliked hearing women cry, even found it repulsive.

Knowing Caden’s temperament, Eleanor sniffed and continued, "I don’t understand why you love her, but I have to accept this outcome! Brother Caden, I won’t cling to you anymore. I’ll abandon the idea of loving you and won’t do anything to harm Evelyn, as long as you’re happy with her, I’ll be satisfied!"

Hearing Eleanor’s words, Caden finally set down his pen, raising his eyes, his gaze still cold.

"It’s true!" Eleanor quickly added, "I’m really willing to give up! The scene of you running out to find Evelyn, your worried look—I’ve already... lost all hope. I know, no matter how hard I try, you won’t have even a little feeling for me."

At her words, something deep flickered in Caden’s eyes.

He stared intently at Eleanor, clearly doubting her words.

Or was this woman planning something again?

"I know you can’t trust me right now, but with time you’ll understand that I genuinely hope to see you happy." Eleanor spoke as she wiped her tears, "Brother Caden, although it’s painful for me not to be your wife, I will adapt. I won’t pester you and Evelyn anymore, I promise! So, I hope you can consider me a friend, okay?"

"Eleanor," Caden’s tone was icy, "if what you’re saying is true, then it’s best you don’t be friends with me."

"Why?" Eleanor panicked, "I just want to maintain some friendship with you. Are you going to reject even such a simple request?"

"Live your new life." Caden replied coldly, "Consider it my promise to your brother."

At his words, Eleanor’s gaze dimmed.

In the end, she wasn’t even qualified to be Caden’s friend.

Eleanor envied Evelyn to death.

Why, after all, would Caden fall in love with Evelyn?

"I don’t care! I can’t treat you as a stranger!" Eleanor stood up, moving closer to Caden, "Brother Caden, we’ve known each other for so many years, I’ve liked you for so many years, don’t you know choosing to give up on you is really painful? Are you really this heartless towards me?"

Caden also stood up, putting some distance between them.

He glared at her, his stern and icy aura preventing her from coming closer again.

Any woman other than Evelyn approaching him made him feel very displeased.

Eleanor was even more hurt, unable to believe as she looked at Caden, crying, "Do you really despise me that much?"

At this moment, the office door was pushed open. Evelyn, holding a thermos, saw Eleanor standing teary-eyed in front of Caden, while Caden wore a dark expression. Instantly, an image of Eleanor sitting on Caden’s lap flashed in Evelyn’s mind.
