Slowly Falling into His Love Trap

Chapter 656: He Doesn’t Love You Anymore

  • Next Chapter

Evelyn adjusted her clothes that Caden Lockwood had half removed. As he withdrew now, all she felt was humiliation.

Just because Eleanor Keaton arrived, he did this?

Ha!

Glaring hatefully at Caden Lockwood, Evelyn clenched her fists, said nothing, and went straight back to the bedroom.

Damn it!

How could there be such a despicable man in the world?

Meanwhile, Caden Lockwood remained standing there, watching Evelyn’s retreating figure, troubled and dejected.

He only then realized he had put himself in an awkward situation and had no idea what to do next.

Eleanor Keaton glanced at the fleeing Evelyn, a trace of contempt flashing in her eyes, then she walked over to Caden Lockwood.

"Brother Caden," Eleanor Keaton said softly, "Come, drink your milk!"

Caden Lockwood looked down, the coldness in his eyes causing Eleanor Keaton to shiver slightly.

"Get out," Caden Lockwood’s voice squeezed out from between his teeth, carrying a ruthless edge that brooked no disobedience.

Eleanor Keaton shrank back, her mind full of things she had prepared to say to Caden Lockwood.

But right now, she couldn’t utter a single word.

After everything she’s been through, she’s learned to be smarter.

She would never confront Caden Lockwood when he’s angry; she would follow his lead, whatever he says goes.

Leaving with a bright smile, Eleanor Keaton took the milk and left.

But just as she closed the study’s door, the hatred in Eleanor Keaton’s eyes was revealed.

Draining the milk in one gulp, Eleanor Keaton angrily pushed open Evelyn’s bedroom door.

"Seems like Brother Caden really upset you just now?" Eleanor Keaton sneered, "I can see it—you two aren’t doing well together. On the surface, Brother Caden cares for you, but the way he looks at you, there’s no love anymore, maybe just a sense of responsibility!"

Her tone intentionally imposing as she spoke.

In truth, she was secretly dying of envy and jealousy of Evelyn.

Anyone could see, Caden Lockwood was more anxious about Evelyn than ever!

Eleanor Keaton couldn’t understand what exactly about Evelyn attracted Caden Lockwood.

"Responsibility?" Evelyn’s face turned pale, "Eleanor Keaton, do you think...."

"You’re feeling guilty!" Eleanor Keaton pointed at Evelyn, "I hit the nail on the head, didn’t I? Evelyn, why don’t you look in the mirror and see your current resentful expression? Brother Caden won’t stay by your side long; his wealth and status determine that he should marry someone like me who is worthy of him!"

Listening to Eleanor Keaton’s words, Evelyn’s clenched fists suddenly relaxed.

Eleanor Keaton’s words distracted Evelyn and made her uncomfortable.

She’s been trying to win Caden Lockwood back, but he kept refusing.

What else... could she do?

"Eleanor Keaton," Evelyn lowered her eyes, her gaze dim, "Caden and I haven’t divorced, I am still Mrs. Lockwood. No matter why he stays by my side, at least he’s here."

Then she raised her head, smiled gently, and asked, "And you? When has he ever been by your side? Where does all your confidence come from?"

"Have you and Brother Caden gone to many parties together?" Eleanor Keaton was unwilling to give up, "You’ve probably heard the whispers about how mismatched you are, haven’t you? Evelyn, don’t you ever feel unworthy of Brother Caden? What can you do for him? What are you willing to sacrifice for him?"
