Slime True Immortal

Chapter 449: The Silverfrost Immortal

  • Next Chapter

Chen Yu puffed up his gel belly and opened his mouth.

A beam of golden light, refined to its utmost, shot from the gel, piercing the deep sea’s gloom in a straight line and overwhelming the true dragon.

It didn’t even have time to roar. Under the onslaught of the golden beam, its enormous body’s scales turned to ash like leaves scorched by a fierce sun, its dragon bones crumbled within the light, and in the end nothing remained.

Silence returned to the seabed, with only the undercurrents between the coral reefs still stirring.

The egg suspended in midair wobbled, as if just awakened from a long dream.

It slowly turned twice in the air, as if recognizing its surroundings, then looked toward the round, rotund figure that had appeared here at some unknown time.

She let out a drowsy voice, “Your Majesty? What are you...”

Before she could finish, every scene around them shattered into countless dancing points of light and vanished into pure white nothingness.

The Tree King dream.

Chen Yu opened his eyes, his consciousness settling back onto the soft grass.

His own light shone upon the ashen dragon egg before him, now covered in cracks that leaked silver radiance through the fissures.

The egg trembled slightly, its vibration accelerating, and even the surrounding grass began to quiver in response.

Farvoyage Port.

A Lizardfolk adventurer leaned against the tower railing, idly whittling a piece of wood with a small knife.

He suddenly felt something cool land on the tip of his nose and instinctively wiped it; his palm came away wet.

He looked up, and another drop fell onto his forehead.

He stared at the sky in confusion and muttered, “Is it raining? Does it rain inside dreams?”

Just as the words left his mouth, a dragon’s roar came from afar, penetrating the entire dome of the dream.

The eggshell made a light crack, a crevice appearing with a crisp sound, and more fragments began to flake away.

Light poured out of the egg, growing ever brighter, dyeing the surrounding dozens of feet of grass into a flowing silver-white.

The radiance, carrying an immense aura, shot upward like a fountain formed of silver moonlight, directly piercing the low-hung sky of the Tree King dream.

“Roar!!”

The dragon’s cry heralded the birth of a true dragon.

A slender silver-white form coalesced within the mist, weaving nimbly through the clouds, appearing and disappearing, stirring the previously calm heavens into a roiling sea of clouds.

At the same time, vapor surged in from all directions and condensed in the air, beads of water pattering down.

They fell on the parched branches of the Tree King’s remains, seeping slowly along the cracked bark into the ground, bringing a touch of new life to the World Tree sapling.

“This made quite a stir.”

Chen Yu gave his gel body a light shake to fling off the droplets, his gaze settling on the silver-white figure riding the clouds.

It was a true dragon with white temples and silver scales.

Her horns were like white jade coral, her white mane as pure as first snow, flowing from her slender neck down her spine. Silver scales wrapped her body, each one like a moonstone repeatedly polished by the most meticulous artisan, pure and dazzling.

She coiled among the clouds, her long tail waving slowly behind her, the tip lightly sweeping the mist and leaving a silver-white trail.

Olivia had been reborn.

But she was no longer the silver dragon Chen Yu remembered.

She had become a true dragon.

Olivia circled in the high air a few times and let out a clear, long cry full of joy, delighted at this brand-new body.

She merely bowed her head and breathed out a wisp of cloud, which dispersed on its own and turned into a gentle rain that fell across the vast plain.

She moved her body lightly, and the clouds obediently rolled aside to both sides, revealing a clear, sky-blue dome as if the sky itself obeyed her command.

This was the innate weather-calling divine ability of true dragons.

She lowered her gaze to the emerald-green figure in the center of the grass and slowly descended. Her form shifted during the descent, growing wings unique to silver dragons before reverting to the giant dragon shape.

At the moment she was about to touch the ground, silver radiance flared again as her dragon body contracted and her wings folded.

The silver scales melted like liquefied moonlight and reformed into a slender, elongated human silhouette.

Olivia landed lightly on the grass, the silver hem of her dress swaying with the movement and then settling quietly.

She lifted a hand to tuck the white hair drooping by her face behind her ear, revealing a visage both familiar and strange.

“Your Majesty, long time no see.”

“I suppose...a lot of time must have passed, right?”

Her features remained exquisite, but subtly different from before.

Hair that had once been golden like sunlight was now pure snow white.

She stood on the grass in a silver-white immortal dress that draped to her ankles, ribbons fluttering in the breeze and scattering layers of silver sheen, as if the entire gown were woven from dragon scales and moonlight.

Even her bearing was completely transformed.

Where Olivia had once resembled a languid, elegant noble lady, now she looked like a fairy descended from a snow-capped peak: clear, tranquil, as if detached from the mortal world.

That innate nobility had been replaced by a more restrained aura.

Chen Yu sized her up from head to toe. His gel body swayed and emitted a contented “Mmm” sound.

He felt the satisfaction of watching the child he had raised finally grow up; he had personally nurtured a dragon maiden immortal.

A fusion of true dragon and giant dragon, containing the essence of both worlds—there was likely no second such origin in all of Zeyarila.

He replied, “Only a few months have passed.”

“But your family sent people over. That old fellow Oros almost tore down Winterhold’s city walls.”

As he said this, he muttered a few complaints about Oros under his breath.

Olivia blinked, “Grandfather Oros?”

She shook her head slightly. “He probably thought I was dead.”

“After all, he’s old; sometimes his mind isn’t as sharp. Please forgive him, Your Majesty.”

Her tone softened a little. “Although he can be excitable at times, Grandfather Oros is very sentimental. Among our silver dragon clan, he is the most respected elder.”

As she spoke, her light moved away from Chen Yu and swept the surroundings.

She noticed the towering Tree King remains and the Farvoyage Port connecting to the silver dragon’s void in the distance, and a flicker of surprise crossed her eyes.

“In only a few months...the Empire has already expanded to the Astral Realm?”

“Your Majesty, your initiative is truly admirable.”

“But this tree...”

Her gaze fell on the Tree King’s wreckage.

Chen Yu said casually, “Oh, that Tree King? That’s a long story. Oros and I discovered it while exploring the Astral Realm.”

“It now serves as the Empire’s astral barrier. As long as you remain beneath the canopy of the Tree King, most Astral Realm creatures dare not come near.”

“But for some reason, it’s undergoing rebirth.”

Tree King?

But isn’t that a demigod?

Olivia’s heart trembled slightly, and curiosity caused her spiritual power to spread instinctively.

An invisible force rippled across the grass, over treetops, reaching the towering Tree King remains in the distance.

She could even see a spider guardian idly playing with blades of grass far off.

“This power...is it the Divine Sense you mentioned earlier?”

“How marvelous.”

Through Divine Sense she perceived the entire dream and faintly sensed the sapling’s aura and a subtle hidden connection to Your Majesty.

But since he hadn’t mentioned it, she didn’t press the matter.

Chen Yu gave his body a light shake. “You felt it, then. Divine Sense lets you instantly perceive things within a hundred-mile radius, even penetrate appearances to glimpse their essence. That’s its charm.”

“How do you feel physically now?”

Olivia closed her eyes to sense herself for a moment, then slowly spoke, “I sense two kinds of power.”

“The legendary power of the silver dragon and Elemental Affinity—these are innate, like breathing.”

“But there is another mysterious force I’ve never encountered before. Strangely, I didn’t feel awkward using it.”

“Like this...”

She raised her hand, thoughts stirring, and a gale howled across the plain, whipping up dust and stones.

She flipped her hand downward and the rain came pouring in an instant, large droplets striking the grass with a dense rustling.

The dragon’s weather-calling, indeed.

Chen Yu had seen it before and was not surprised.

“Your Majesty, there’s another power.”

Her voice turned a bit more serious.

She curled her fingers as if holding something invisible, and a longsword of crystallized ice condensed in her palm.

The blade was transparent as ice, and within its body flowed threads of silver light, like moonlight frozen under the ice.

Holding the sword altered her entire bearing; she became a chill, snow-cold immortal of ice and frost.

She slashed forward lightly, an icy trail extending from the tip of the blade toward the distance, rapidly spreading and heaving upward, finally forming an iceberg dozens of feet tall on the plain.

“Yuhanxiao Sword Dao.”

“In my blood-memory, it was founded by true dragons specializing in icy swordsmanship, famed for its fierceness and coldness.”

Chen Yu nodded.

This was within his expectations. Silver dragons are naturally adept at frost breath; a sword dao tied to cold logic made perfect sense.

With legendary power and Golden Core cultivation as dual foundations, Olivia’s starting point was already astonishingly high; ordinary legendaries might barely get the chance to flee in her presence.

He suddenly realized Olivia’s path resembled his own: corporeal strength enough to crush ordinary beings, mastery of various spells and divine abilities, and now a sword dao focused on decisive slaughter.

Demons who encountered her and couldn’t run fast would be minced.

Even the Infernal Forge Lord Casaric, who once forced him to take strict precautions, would likely fall with a single stroke in her presence.

She was roughly the equivalent of facing a lone Casaric now.

Chen Yu couldn’t help but marvel.

Unconsciously, enemies who once demanded his full attention had become units for measuring new combat power.

And the Empire’s second Legendary with Golden Core cultivation had been personally raised by him.

He felt a flush of pleasure at the thought.

Olivia’s feet touched down; the ice sword in her hand dissolved into points of light. She remained standing, looking down at her open palm with a thoughtful crease between her brows.

“For some reason...I still feel a mysterious sensation, as if this Dao is not the only one.”

Chen Yu’s heart stirred. “You comprehended a second Dao?”

Olivia shook her head uncertainly. “Not sure.”

“Just an obscure feeling, like I can, through some arcane connection, communicate with mysterious existences and borrow power from them.”

Communicate with mysterious existences?

That description made Chen Yu think of the All-Through Dao Sect’s All-Through Dao.

That secret art supposedly lets one borrow insights from ascended immortals to comprehend the Dao; it is the core, never-disseminated art of the All-Through Dao Sect.

But Olivia had never been exposed to the All-Through Dao—how could she have comprehended it on her own?

Unless...this had something to do with the mysterious lone daughter of Ancestor Cloud Cliff.

According to Wu Shouzhuo, Ancestor Cloud Cliff left behind only a single daughter after ascending, and she was a dragon maiden who later founded the All-Through Dao Sect and ascended with the All-Through Dao.

If that history was true, perhaps Olivia shared some bloodline link to that dragon lady.

Chen Yu fell into thought.

This All-Through Dao was even more mysterious than he had imagined; it could apparently transmit comprehension through bloodlines.

“Try it, then. Attempt to borrow strength from those existences,” he decided.

Olivia nodded without further questions and sat cross-legged on the ground, closing her eyes.

Her silver-white hair moved as if wind-driven though no breeze blew; her ribbons brushed softly behind her, as if pulled by an unseen current.

After a moment, a vast heavenly pressure spread from her, and her body hovered slightly above the ground as silver-white light intensified around her.

The pressure rose, grass bowing outward from her center as a dense Dao resonance surged and spread.

In an instant she had entered the Dao.

So it truly was the All-Through Dao.

But that comprehension had been so effortless—Chen Yu was speechless.

It was like a backdoor tailored to Olivia: one step and she was in, or perhaps she hadn’t even stepped and the Dao had lifted her in.

A few seconds later the commotion subsided. Olivia opened her eyes with a puzzled look. “I seemed to hear a voice, a woman.”

“What did she say?” Chen Yu’s expression turned serious.

She furrowed her brow as if trying to grasp the fading thought. “She seemed to say, ‘Don’t ascend, don’t ascend.’”

Don’t ascend?

What did that mean?

Chen Yu stayed silent, but turmoil churned inside him.

An ancestor who had long since ascended had used the All-Through Dao to send a warning to her descendants.

This almost confirmed his long-standing worry: if ascension truly were a smooth path to higher realms, why warn one’s own blood not to ascend?

Could it be, as Xu Xuan Heaven cultivators speculated, that ascension was not what they imagined? Or that the upper realms differed from common belief?

Too many doubts swirled. Chen Yu could only say, “Keep meditating. If you hear that voice again, tell me what she says.”

Olivia obeyed and closed her eyes once more, sitting cross-legged.

After a while she opened her eyes and shook her head regretfully. “I can’t hear it anymore; the voice has vanished.”

So the All-Through Dao could not always be sensed at will; it had its own inscrutable rules.

Chen Yu had to let it be.

Olivia stood and smoothed her skirt, looking up at him with expectation. “Your Majesty, I want to return to take a look.”

“A lot must have changed in the Empire these months, right?”

Chen Yu said regretfully, “I’m afraid you won’t be able to return to the Empire anymore.”

Olivia blinked. “Why not?”

Chen Yu’s expression darkened a bit. “If you go back, the Empire will catch the gods’ attention. They might detect your presence and expose the Empire’s secrets.”

Olivia propped her chin on her hand and pondered for a moment, then lifted her head and smiled brightly at him. “I have a solution.”

“There is a spell recorded in the silver dragon’s blood-memory that can mask one’s aura. Give me a few days and I should master it. As long as I don’t reveal my legendary aura in the Empire, it should be fine.”

“Your Majesty, let me return to that world.”

“Aren’t you curious to look around?” Chen Yu hopped closer to her.

Olivia spread her hands and shrugged. “What’s there to see in the Astral Realm? It’s all void—boring to death.”

Chen Yu thought about it and agreed. Giant dragons who had spent their youth in the Astral Realm wouldn’t be curious about the void; they probably found it tedious long ago.

“Come with me.”

Because Olivia was essentially his spirit companion, Chen Yu merely thought it and her form turned into a soft white light, merging into his spirit sea.

When he opened his eyes again, the leaden-gray Abyss sea came into view.

He sat cross-legged in midair, his white robe fluttering gently in the wind.

Ripples came from beneath the sea.

Old Wu seemed to sense his waking and poked his head out of the water. “Dragon Sovereign, you’re awake?”

“But there’s something odd in the Abyss?”

Chen Yu shook his head lightly, then raised a hand.

A silver-white glimmer shot from between his brows.

Olivia’s form condensed in the wind: snow-white hair, silver dress brushing softly, ribbons flowing behind her like a moonlit fairy crossing the waves. She stood beside Chen Yu on the sea’s surface.

Chen Yu said calmly, “Old Wu, this is...er, the Silverfrost Immortal, my sword guardian.”

“From today on, she will take station here in the Abyss with me. See her as you would see me.”

Old Wu hurriedly shifted into humanoid shape and bowed respectfully to Olivia. “This old man pays respects to the Silverfrost Immortal.”

“Please take care of matters in the Abyss in the days to come.”

Olivia was slightly taken aback but pleased at the title “Silverfrost Immortal.” Her mouth curved quickly, then she composed herself and returned the bow with dignified grace.

“Old Wu, you flatter me.”

“I’m new here and unfamiliar with the Abyss. I look forward to your guidance in the future.”

She offered polite words while inwardly amused; thankfully His Majesty hadn’t remembered her egg form, otherwise with his terrible sense of humor he would have insisted on calling her the Egg Immortal.

She was quite satisfied with the current situation.

Chen Yu waved his hand. “Go on.”

Olivia nodded and wasted no more time.

Her form became a streak of silver-white light and darted into the sea below the Abyss, disappearing into the layered deep-blue waveglow.

She needed to find a quiet fissure in the deep sea and spend a few days practicing the secret technique from her memory.
