Skill Trees Are Everywhere
Chapter 64: Case Solved
Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Case Solved
Regardless of why Miss Feng had been injured that day, eavesdropping on them had finally put Su Han at ease regarding the Feng Family siblings. At the very least... this brother and sister harbored no ill will toward them. Moreover, their personalities revealed through their conversation indicated that their character was perfectly fine.
The only fly in the ointment was that while the two mentioned ruins and serendipitous encounters, they hadn’t revealed any further information Su Han wanted to know. For example... what exactly were those ruins? What was the legendary second taboo? And... most importantly, what was that serendipitous encounter?
Since he didn’t have to cultivate like everyone else, Su Han lay in bed silently pondering before quickly falling asleep.
Early the next morning, Qiao’s KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK on the door woke Su Han from his sweet dreams.
While washing up and changing clothes under Qiao’s care, Su Han realized he hadn’t seen a trace of Xi all morning. Spreading his arms to let Qiao tidy his clothes, Su Han asked casually, "Where’s Xi?"
Qiao blushed slightly. "Xie... She’s not feeling well, so she asked me to request a leave of absence from the Crown Prince on her behalf."
"Not feeling well?"
Su Han cast a suspicious glance at Qiao. He thought, "Your Xie is the one feeling unwell, so why are you blushing? Does she have a fever?"
Muttering to himself in confusion, Su Han nodded and didn’t press further. Everyone caught a cold or fever every now and then; he would just send some medicine over later.
After changing his clothes, Su Han went to eat breakfast.
During breakfast, he saw Feng Muxi again, who showed no outward signs of having been injured. However, under the feedback of the Eye of Truth, Su Han could tell that he was still in a weakened state. Presumably, this was the aftereffect of casting Secret Magic. He just didn’t know if the man could recover before the ruins opened.
However... it was fine. After all, his use of the Secret Technique to repel the Demon Race’s Celestial Being was partly for the sake of Prince Jing’s Residence. At worst, he would just secretly cover for him when the time came. Anyway, judging from Miss Feng’s words, the siblings didn’t seem absolutely determined to obtain that serendipitous encounter. Their minimum requirement was simply to prevent the Demons from getting their hands on it.
After breakfast, having essentially burned all the large and small Skill Trees throughout Lingzhou City, Su Han didn’t take Su Xiao’Er out to fool around. Instead, he returned to his own courtyard.
While passing through the yard, he saw Qiao squatting alone by the pavilion, playing with ants. Only then did Su Han remember that her Xie seemed a bit unwell today.
In the past, if a little maid fell ill, he would have just called for a doctor. But now, with a three-star Alchemy Skill in hand, he could concoct various Elixirs with just a mere thought. Calling a doctor was nowhere near as fast as popping a pill to recover.
His footsteps toward his own room paused, and he turned toward the adjacent room where Xi and Qiao lived.
Standing in front of the door, Su Han thought for a moment. He didn’t push the door open directly but knocked first. He still remembered a time the year before last when he came looking for the little maid, pushed the door right open, and caught her changing clothes... Although... in this era, it really wasn’t a big deal.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK. Tapping the door three times, Su Han spoke toward the tightly shut door.
"Xi, are you still resting?"
"Crown Prince..."
RUSTLING sounds of someone getting out of bed came from inside. Moments later, the door opened. Xi, wearing only her inner garments, had hurried over to open the door for Su Han.
"I heard from Qiao that you’re not feeling well, so I came to bring you some..."
Sniffing slightly, Su Han frowned. "Are you injured?"
Seeing Su Han’s reaction, Xi’s face flushed red. "N-no... I’m not."
"Then..."
Su Han didn’t believe it. He clearly smelled a faint scent of blood on her.
Xi’s face turned even redder. She lowered her head bashfully and said, "It’s... It’s my time of the month."
Su Han was speechless.
A flash of inspiration crossed his mind, and a sudden realization dawned on him. Thinking of his previous actions, Su Han barely stopped himself from slapping his own face a few times.
Embarrassing! Absolutely embarrassing! He actually had the nerve to ask Miss Feng if she was injured last time, when she was clearly in the exact same situation as Xi right now.
Now, the mystery in his heart was finally solved. He hadn’t figured out such a simple thing for so long; it was a disgrace to his status as a Transmigrator. However... he couldn’t take all the blame for this. After all, he was only a junior high school student when he transmigrated, and he didn’t have much contact with female classmates.
He thought, "Yes... exactly, that’s it."
Making excuses for his hindsight, Su Han recalled that Miss Feng’s complexion seemed to improve after taking his Elixir last time. After some thought, he pulled out a bottle of Elixir and handed it to Xi.
"Take one of these Elixirs. You might feel a bit better."
Xi was so grateful that she almost knelt on the ground. Su Han hurriedly stopped her, and only after much persuasion did she accept the Elixir.
After giving her the Elixir, Su Han returned to his room.
Over the next few days, whenever Su Han ran into Miss Feng, he would think of his idiotic question: "Is Miss Feng injured?" Whenever he thought of how foolish he looked back then, Su Han had the urge to cover his face and walk away. This left Miss Feng utterly baffled these past few days, completely unaware of what kind of nonsense this supposedly "unfathomable" Crown Prince was up to now.
Three days later.
Central State.
The back mountain of the Celestial Demon Sect.
Celestial Being Patriarch Yu Su stood respectfully outside a cave dwelling, suppressing her breathing to the point where it was practically non-existent. She had already been standing there for over six hours.
Following the discussions and investigations among the Celestial Being Patriarchs, more than two-thirds of them believed that the "Guo Jing" whom their sect disciple Zhao Yang encountered in Qing Province likely had profound ties with their Celestial Demon Sect.
The magnitude of the matter was no longer something the Celestial Being Patriarchs could easily decide upon. Because of this, Yu Su had been waiting in front of this cave dwelling for over six hours.
Waiting without a time limit was the most excruciating torment. Standing there and staring at the tightly sealed stone doors, the gloom in Yu Su’s heart grew heavier and heavier.
She thought, "Is the Grandmaster’s condition already this critical? It’s been over six hours since the message was sent, yet he still hasn’t awakened. It seems the sect’s situation is likely even more dire than we anticipated."
As her mind wandered, a wizened voice echoed from within the cave dwelling.
"Is that little Yu Su? What has happened in the sect that is so severe you needed to awaken this old bag of bones?"
At first, the voice sounded distant, but by the end of the sentence, it seemed to speak right into Yu Su’s ear.
Raising her head, Yu Su saw an elderly man with snow-white hair and a kindly face standing before her, looking at her with a gentle smile. However, despite the old man’s benevolent smile, Yu Su—who had personally witnessed him slaughter an entire mid-tier sect in a fit of rage—would never truly mistake him for the harmless figure he appeared to be on the surface.
"Your grand-disciple pays her respects to the Grandmaster," Yu Su said. "This matter is of the utmost importance. I had no choice but to disturb you. Please forgive me, Grandmaster."
The smile gradually faded from the old man’s weathered face. "Speak! What is it?
"Have some old fogeys seen that this old man is on his last legs, so they jumped out to bully our Celestial Demon Sect, thinking we have no one left?
"Don’t be afraid. Although your Grandmaster is old, I can still drag two or three of them down to the grave with me even if it costs my life."
