Skill Trees Are Everywhere
Chapter 52: Secret Magic - Nirvana
Chapter 52: Chapter 52: Secret Magic - Nirvana
First thing in the morning, without even eating breakfast, Su Han ran straight to his parents’ courtyard.
"Han, is there something the matter for you to come over so early?"
Prince Jing, who was already up and teasing a parrot in the courtyard, couldn’t help but be slightly taken aback when he saw Su Han’s rushed appearance.
After Su Han explained his purpose, Prince Jing looked at him suspiciously.
"You want to learn new Magic again? It’s only been a little over half a month, and you’ve already completely mastered the Rain of Fire?"
Su Han blinked, his expression somewhat innocent. "If Father doesn’t believe me, I can cast it for you and Mother to see."
Su Han pointed to a small tree in the courtyard, and both Prince Jing and the Princess Consort focused their attention on him.
His hands rapidly changed Seal Decisions. In an instant, a flurry of fiery rain descended from out of nowhere, swallowing the small tree. The roaring flames burned, illuminating the dumbfounded faces of Prince Jing and the Princess Consort.
"This... instant casting. Han, have you already mastered the Rain of Fire Magic to this extent?"
Su Han looked at his father and nodded with some shame. "It took me more than half a month to finally achieve this step.
"I feel it will be difficult to make any further progress in the short term, so I wanted to ask Mother to teach me another Magic and Martial Technique for self-defense."
Prince Jing was speechless.
The Princess Consort was equally speechless.
Shame? It was this ashamed expression again. He had deeply researched the Rain of Fire to a height that ordinary people could hardly reach in a lifetime in just fifteen days, and he was still ashamed? They wondered what on earth he had to be ashamed of.
Giving Su Han a complex look, the Princess Consort nodded. "Then what does Little Han want to learn this time? Mother will teach you."
With his goal achieved, an embarrassed expression appeared on Su Han’s face. "Well... I don’t know what I want to learn either. Mother, what is the most profound and powerful technique you have mastered?"
Hearing Su Han’s request, the Princess Consort thought for a moment, her expression somewhat hesitant. After hesitating for a long time, as if finally making a decision, she gritted her teeth and nodded.
"Never mind, I have to pass it on to you eventually anyway. I just hope you will never have to use it in your life." A trace of reminiscence flashed in the Princess Consort’s eyes. "Among everything I have learned, the most powerful is a type of Secret Magic."
Su Han’s eyes lit up. "Secret Magic?"
The Princess Consort nodded. "This Secret Magic is called Nirvana. It is the strongest technique my master passed down back in the day."
"Nirvana?"
The Princess Consort took out a quaintly designed metal box from her Storage Ring. She consecutively unlocked forty-nine Restrictions and opened the lid of the metal box. From inside, she took out a Scroll made of an unknown animal hide.
"What is recorded on this Scroll is the Secret Magic I learned—Nirvana.
"For generations in my master’s sect, the Nirvana technique has used flying knives as its medium.
"When casting it using the Secret Magic, you condense all your Essence, Qi, and Spirit into a single knife. You strike out with the Nirvana blade. Once this knife is thrown, the caster will have no power left to fight and will be entirely at the mercy of others."
Speaking of this, a trace of sorrow flashed in the Princess Consort’s eyes.
"Back then, my master once achieved a battle record of severely injuring a Celestial Being with a single knife while at Divine Sea Perfection. It’s just a pity..."
The Princess Consort didn’t say what was a pity, but Su Han understood in his heart.
His mother’s master had struck out with his strongest attack and severely injured a Celestial Being. However, the enemy was only severely injured. The Nirvana knife condensed all Essence, Qi, and Spirit into a single blade in exchange for the strongest strike. This was a certain-kill strike. Either the enemy died, or the caster perished. It was exactly because of this that the Princess Consort had said earlier that she hoped Su Han would never have the opportunity to cast it in his life.
Taking the Scroll from the Princess Consort’s hands, Su Han carefully read it from beginning to end, gaining a relatively intuitive understanding of the Nirvana Secret Magic.
Seeing that Su Han had finished reading, the Princess Consort asked, "Can you understand it?"
Su Han nodded. "If I spend some time on it, I should be able to learn it."
Regarding the Nirvana Secret Magic, Su Han didn’t plan to have his mother demonstrate it for him in order to form a Skill Tree. This Secret Magic condensed all Essence, Qi, and Spirit into a single knife, causing too great a toll on the caster. Since he could clearly learn it if he spent some time, he couldn’t bring himself as a son to let his mother pay such a price just for his own comfort.
However, upon hearing Su Han say he could understand it, the Princess Consort nodded. She swiped her right hand over her Storage Ring, and a flying knife made of refined gold appeared in her hand.
"The consumption of the Nirvana Secret Magic is quite large, so I can only cast it for you once.
"I will try my best to prolong the process of this technique. Watch carefully, and learn as much as you can."
After saying that, without waiting for Su Han to refuse, the Princess Consort directly activated the Secret Technique.
Su Han opened his mouth but couldn’t utter a single word. His heart felt warm and moved. Activating his Eye of Truth, he clearly saw all the Essence, Qi, and Spirit in his mother’s body converging under the propulsion of a mysterious power and attaching to the flying knife in her hand.
As the Essence, Qi, and Spirit condensed, the flying knife in the Princess Consort’s hand seemed to undergo some bizarre changes. It was as if this flying knife could easily tear through space and kill enemies instantly.
Inexplicably, a phrase Su Han had heard in his past life came to his mind: Li’s Flying Knife never misses its target.
Su Han didn’t like the character setting of Li Xunhuan. The only reason he was willing to watch that TV series in his past life was entirely because the actor had saved the role. But it was undeniable that his flying knives, under Ancient Dragon’s description, or rather, through the word of mouth of Ancient Dragon fans, had taken on a mythological nature.
Li’s Flying Knife never misses its target.
No one could clearly see where his knives were hidden, and no one could see how his knives were thrown. The moment the flying knife was thrown, it was already lodged in the enemy’s throat. Judging merely by the description, the speed of Li’s Flying Knife seemed to have involved Spatial Power.
Of course, sensible people knew that it was just a Martial Technique. But now, in Su Han’s eyes, wisps of Spatial Power really seemed to be entwined around the flying knife in his mother’s hand. This knife gave him the illusion that it could tear through space and act directly on the enemy.
No wonder his mother’s master could severely injure someone in the Celestial Human Realm while in the Divine Sea Realm back then. This was fundamentally an unavoidable knife. As long as the knife was thrown, it would inevitably appear in the position it was supposed to. As for whether it could kill the enemy, that would depend on whether the power of this knife could break through the opponent’s defense and destroy their vitality.
He was slightly surprised that his mother actually possessed such Secret Magic. However, when he saw the wisps of ethereal aura dissipating around her as she cast the Nirvana technique, his attention was quickly shifted. The reappearance of this ethereal, invisible aura proved that his previous conclusions were likely spot on.
Using his Divine Thought, he manipulated these ethereal intents to converge on a large tree outside the courtyard. Thread by thread, they gathered and accumulated within the large tree, becoming nutrients for the Skill Tree.
However, even though the Princess Consort intentionally prolonged the casting of this technique as much as possible, as time passed, her Essence, Qi, and Spirit began to fail to sustain it.
SWISH!
Under the Princess Consort’s control, the flying knife left her hand, tore through the air, and hurtled toward the ground. Like a knife cutting through tofu, the flying knife pierced the ground without encountering the slightest resistance, shooting into the unknown depths of the earth.
At the same time, after Su Han controlled the last wisp of ethereal aura to merge into the large tree outside the courtyard, a golden light flashed on the large tree, transforming it into a sparkling Skill Tree.
Retracting the Divine Thought that controlled the formation of the Skill Tree, Su Han subconsciously swept his perception downward along the opening. However, within the five-thousand-meter range of his Divine Thought, he astonishingly only saw the traces left by the flying knife, but not a single trace of the flying knife itself.
GASP!
This result made Su Han unable to resist sucking in a breath of cold air. He knew this strike was badass, but he had understood that the most powerful aspect of this knife should lie in its karmic power that ignored space. He never expected that even without locking onto a target and ignoring its space-defying power, this knife would still possess such terrifying might.
Before he even had time to praise the terrifying might of the Nirvana Secret Magic, he saw the Princess Consort beside him sway, unable to stand steadily.
Su Han flashed forward to support his falling mother. He took out a massive pile of Elixirs, including Soul Nourishing Pills, Nourishing Spirit Pills, Qi Nourishing Pills, and Primordial Spirit Pills, and began pouring them from large and small bottles into his mother’s mouth.
Fortunately, the Elixirs melted instantly in her mouth. Super Grade Elixirs had astonishing efficacy but gentle medicinal properties, so they wouldn’t overwhelm her body from eating too many. After bottles of Elixirs entered her mouth, a bit of color finally returned to the Princess Consort’s face.
She glanced at Su Han with some confusion, as if curious about where he got so many Elixirs with such astounding effects. But when the Princess Consort spoke, she asked the question she cared about the most.
"How was it? How much did you understand from my demonstration this time?"
"Well... how should I put it..." Su Han hesitated.
Hearing Su Han’s reply, the Princess Consort was slightly disappointed and forced a smile. "It was Mother who took it for granted. This kind of Secret Magic is inherently more difficult to learn than ordinary Magic.
"It’s inevitable that you wouldn’t understand it after just one demonstration.
"Little Han, go back and study this Scroll more. Once Mother has recovered, I will demonstrate it for you a few more times."
"Uh, Mother, that’s not what I meant," Su Han said. "What I meant is... I understood all of the Nirvana technique you just cast."
The Princess Consort fell silent.
"Moreover, not only did I understand it, I’ve already learned it," he added.
"R-really?" the Princess Consort stammered.
Su Han nodded. "Really."
Well, the Skill Tree had already been formed; all it needed was a spark from him. So... probably, maybe, supposedly... that counted as having learned it, right?
