Chapter 37: Chapter 37: The Young Master Heir’s Face Turned Pale From Fright
After returning to the Prince’s Residence, Su Han didn’t step outside for the rest of the afternoon.
When night fell and dinner was over, he changed into the black outfit he had asked Su Xiao’Er to prepare in advance. Concealing his aura with his Divine Thought, he silently left Prince Jing’s Residence.
He had already asked Su Xiao’Er about the exact location of the Liu Residence. Using the unpredictable Moon Shadow Step, he traveled without anyone noticing and quietly infiltrated the Liu Family’s compound. Unlike large clans such as the Ning Residence or the Wang Family, the Liu Residence was merely a small courtyard with three enclosures.
Leaping over the wall, Su Han landed directly on a roof. Hiding there, he released his Divine Thought. In an instant, every little movement within the entire Liu Residence could not hide from him.
"Mmm~ Young Master... don’t~"
Flirtatious whispers echoed from Liu San’s room. Su Han twitched his lips in disdain and shifted his attention to another room.
"Husband, San came back with a swollen face today. I asked him about it, but he wouldn’t tell me anything, only saying he got into an argument. Do you think he’s stirred up trouble?" In the room, a middle-aged woman in thin clothing looked at Liu Laoer with a worried expression.
Liu Laoer, sitting shirtless on the bed, glared at her.
"Hmph! Such short-sightedness! Never mind San’s nature of never taking a loss—if he had actually been taken advantage of, he would have come back screaming and gathered people to go exact revenge.
"Just look at the powerful figure our Liu Family is backing onto now.
"In a few days, when the second girl and that lord return to the sect, let alone mere Lingzhou, even looking at the entire Jing Country, is there anyone our Liu Family can’t afford to provoke?"
"But..." The woman opened her mouth, feeling a lingering sense of unease. However, seeing that her husband refused to listen, she eventually gave up in vain.
"You just worry too much." Liu Laoer pulled his wife into his arms and lay back on the bed. "Alright, it’s getting late. Let’s rest. I still need to run errands for that lord tomorrow, so I can’t wake up late."
The woman nodded and snuggled into Liu Laoer’s embrace as the candles were snuffed out and they tumbled beneath the red sheets.
Su Han muttered to himself after eavesdropping on the entire conversation between Liu Laoer and his wife. He thought, "That lord? A sect?"
He continued to ponder, "It seems this Liu Family really has latched onto a massive backer. But... who could it be?"
The word "sect" was not unfamiliar to Su Han. In fact, there were many sects, large and small, within Jing Country. However, these sects were all subject to Jing Country’s authority and possessed no power to override it. Yet, listening to the sheer arrogance in Liu Laoer’s tone, it was evident that the backer behind them was definitely not from any sect within Jing Country.
So... could it be from one of the three sects in Qing Province that had Immortal Platform Realm ancestors? Or was it a major sect from the Central State with a stronger background and deeper foundation?
"Who’s there!"
As he pondered, a sudden sense of danger surged from the bottom of his heart. Instinctively activating his Moon Shadow Step, he vanished from his spot as if using Instant Teleportation. Looking down at a fresh tear on the corner of his clothes, Su Han’s expression darkened, casting a cold gaze toward a secluded courtyard.
CREAK.
A door opened, and a young man dressed in blue brocade clothes walked out. He appeared to be around twenty-four or twenty-five years old. Standing in the courtyard, he looked up and examined Su Han with great interest.
Su Han’s gaze hardened, feeling a faint jolt of surprise.
Earlier, his Divine Thought hadn’t detected the aura of a living person in that room at all. It was only when the commotion occurred that he sensed someone’s presence. In this kind of situation, either the opponent’s cultivation was far superior to his, or... the opponent possessed a treasure that concealed his aura, slipping past the detection of his Divine Thought when he wasn’t paying close attention.
Since the young man’s aura was currently completely hidden, Su Han had no way to determine which case it was.
However... he wasn’t afraid. If the other party was merely relying on a treasure to hide his aura and his cultivation wasn’t much higher, Su Han could utterly crush him with his arsenal of overpowered, everyday abilities. And if the man was some legendary expert, so powerful that Su Han couldn’t even touch the corner of his clothes... Oh, wait, not touching his clothes was impossible.
If the opponent was so powerful that he could stand perfectly still and Su Han still couldn’t kill him with normal attacks, that was even simpler. He would just stop and unleash his ultimate move. Whether this guy was a god, a demon, a ghost, or an evil spirit, could he withstand Celestial Punishment?
"Interesting! How truly interesting!"
While Su Han was secretly observing the young man, the young man was also openly sizing Su Han up. After staring for a long time, the amused look in the young man’s eyes deepened. "You... aren’t afraid of me?"
His gaze, his posture, his tone—everything painted a picture of absolute certainty, fully displaying the attitude of a cat toying with a mouse before devouring it.
Su Han frowned slightly, looking at the young man with considerable displeasure. After a moment, the corners of his mouth curled up slightly. "I see..."
He moved, turning into an afterimage and instantly appearing behind the young man. Drawing his Mortal Iron Longsword, he thrust it forward from behind.
Backstab... Oh, excuse me, wrong script. That skill isn’t in the Skill List yet. Let’s try again...
He executed his Suiyuan Swordsmanship. The blade sliced lightly across the young man’s back, leaving a bloody gash. Moving his feet, Su Han struck again, landing yet another sword mark on the young man.
Seven breaths. From the moment Su Han dropped from the roof to when the sword light in his hand faded away, a total of seven breaths of time had passed.
Seven breaths later, the young man—who had just been adopting the lofty stance of a cat toying with a mouse—had his clothes shredded into rags, leaving only a loincloth to cover himself.
Collapsing weakly onto the ground, the young man barely had a single patch of intact skin left on his entire body as a pool of blood spread out beneath him. He looked at Su Han with eyes full of sheer terror, entirely devoid of his previous calmness and composure.
"It seems you have no affinity with this Crown Prince." Wiping the blood from his longsword, Su Han looked down at the young man, who had now been reduced to a bloody mess. "So, you can tell this Crown Prince now—why exactly should I be afraid of you?"
The young man remained silent. He thought, "Damn it, you’ve already reduced me to this state! What else is there to say? If you were actually afraid, would I have ended up like this?"
"Oh? Not going to speak?" Su Han glanced at his sheathed longsword and put on a conversational tone. "How about you tell me about your background? Which major faction is behind you? How many Immortal Platform Elders does your sect have? How many Celestial Being ancestors?"
The young man remained speechless. He thought, "I... I really f*cking wanted to talk! But you’re acting all negotiable while giving off this vibe that you might murder me to silence me at any moment! How am I supposed to speak? You sliced me into pieces before I even said a word. If I actually spout a few threats, are you going to boil me alive?"
"Wow, you’re quite stubborn." Su Han pressed the scabbard of his sword against the young man’s lips. "Since you refuse to speak, there’s no use keeping this tongue of yours. Why don’t I... be a good person and help you cut it out?"
As his words fell, Su Han swiftly drew his longsword.
"No! Please! My Lord, you can’t do this! I’ll talk, I’ll tell you whatever you want to know! Just don’t cut off my tongue!"
Seeing the young man’s extreme reaction, Su Han was genuinely stunned. What was going on? The guy hadn’t reacted this strongly to being chopped into a bloody pulp, so why was he freaking out over the threat of having his tongue cut out? Could it be that this guy’s tongue served some kind of crucial, special purpose?
Thinking of this, Su Han couldn’t help but look at the young man with a rather odd expression.
"My Lord! My Lord, I’ll tell you anything you want to know, just don’t cut off my tongue! I’m relying on this tongue for the rest of my life!"
Su Han was speechless.
He instinctively took a step back. Looking at the blood-soaked young man who was desperately trying to save his tongue, all the color instantly drained from Su Han’s face.
This guy’s tongue... actually possessed some kind of f*cking special purpose?
PS: Tell me, are you leaving a recommendation ticket or leaving your tongue?! (Take a good look at the sword in my hand before you speak.)
