Chapter 726 - 325: VIP
Chapter 726: Chapter 325: VIP
"The last time we carried out a mission in Japan, we used real guns, only the bullets were replaced with rubber ones!"
As he spoke, Gao Bo turned his head to Gu Ji beside him and nudged him with his elbow. "What do you think, with our limited equipment, how can we take on PM Company? Should we bring this up with Mr. Qieu?"
"It won’t help to bring it up now; after all, PM Company hasn’t actually made a move yet, and the Brazilian Government will definitely not allow us to carry guns on the streets."
Gu Ji pursed his lips, his eyes focused on the assistant responsible for distributing task documents.
As soon as he got the document, he eagerly started to browse through it.
The document contained information on the targets they needed to protect this time. The entire Puli Delegation consisted of 16 people; subtracting 4 security personnel, it meant that the 10 of them had to protect 12 important figures.
Based on a 24-hour shift, on average, each person had to watch over at least 2.4 people. The workload was not light.
"Gu Ji, do you have any plan?"
"This mission is different from the past. 10.16 was a capture mission. The first half of the 324 operation was a rescue, and the second half was support for breaking through. Whereas this Golden Shield Operation is focused on VIP protection."
Upon hearing Gao Bo’s inquiry, Gu Ji squinted his eyes, thinking as he answered.
"Isn’t it just a routine protection task? Isn’t this like our last operation in Japan!"
Gao Bo vaguely remembered that in the operation’s content regarding overseas tasks in Japan, it mentioned arranging him, Gu Ji, and Wu Kang to protect the three overseas police officers, including Chen Zhiyu.
"The Japan operation involved protecting police officers who were professionally trained. In critical moments, they could work with us to concentrate and exert force. This time, we’re protecting ordinary people, long-time office corporate executives, and administrative staff. In terms of theoretical knowledge, physical fitness, and psychological quality, they’re not on the same level."
As soon as Gu Ji finished speaking.
Li Yanan spoke, "You mean like the VIP protection task during last year’s tactical exchange in Xiangzhou?"
"Oh, I get it, like the G4 VIP protection group from the Xiangzhou Police Security Department?"
Gao Bo finally understood.
Indeed.
First of all, protecting ordinary people is different from protecting police, and VIPs are even more challenging than ordinary people.
When we refer to VIPs, we generally mean political figures, tycoons, celebrities, and, in this case, corporate executives. These individuals, due to their prominence and significance, are high-profile targets and easily exposed.
The problem is, they cannot stay indoors like ordinary people. They need to attend important speeches, business consultations, and meetings, appearing in public daily, which invisibly increases the security risks.
"Exactly."
Gu Ji nodded, "VIP protection tasks focus on defense rather than offense. In a narrow sense, it’s more like being a bodyguard. This completely differs from our previous combat styles, with its core structure rooted in risk assessment and pre-emptive evasion. If inadequate risk assessment and lax security lead to weapons like firearms or bombs being deployed, it’s often hard to predict the survival of VIPs, who are basically regular people."
"Gu Ji, since you understand so well, shouldn’t you already have a response strategy in mind?"
Li Yaoguang questioned after hearing the discussion, as, in his view, Gu Ji was someone with an exceptionally agile mind.
Whether at the Xiangzhou exchange meeting or subsequent Jinbang training, Gu Ji’s leadership of the Ningzhou Special Police Team always quickly showcased unexpected yet remarkable actions in crises.
"As I mentioned earlier, the key to VIP protection is risk assessment, and this assessment doesn’t just pop out of nowhere. It’s drawn from intelligence gathering concerning the target, including their identity, status, activities, schedules, preferences, historical events, security conditions, and potential threats. All this information must be clearly understood."
At this point, Gu Ji suddenly paused and looked at his team members, "Who here is skilled in computer technology and adept at collecting big data?"
"I am."
A young man, around 27 or 28, wearing a denim jacket, tall, with a baby face that seemed more like a student than a special police officer, spoke up.
"Xv Guangpeng, before joining our anti-riot squad, was with the district intelligence investigation team, and he’s quite a whiz with computers!"
Li Yaoguang patted his chest as he introduced him.
"Alright, Xv Guangpeng, you’ll be responsible for intelligence gathering. I don’t care what methods or channels you use, be it official reports, news coverage, social media, or corporate investigation reports, your task is to get the most up-to-date and accurate information as fast as possible, got it?"
"I’m on it!"
There’s something about computer guys; they’re often like this.
Xv Guangpeng seemed just like Zhao Hua, not talkative, yet possessed a youthful drive—not sure about his technical prowess though.
Then Gu Ji turned his gaze to Gao Bo and the others.
"Everyone else, starting now, must memorize each VIP’s name and photo. Once we have the intelligence, I’ll be responsible for making plans and assigning tasks."
"Understood!"
"Don’t worry; this won’t be a problem for us!"
"Great."
Just as Gao Bo, Li Yaoguang, and the others responded, the sound of clapping came from behind them.
Turning around, they saw Qieu Hongyi approaching them with a smile, "It seems you’re well prepared. The Puli Group delegation is the centerpiece of this Golden Shield Operation. Ensuring their smooth business talks with the Brazilian Government is of utmost importance to our country."
Gu Ji immediately straightened his back.
"Mr. Qieu, rest assured, we will do our utmost best."
"Good, I’m looking forward to your good news!"
After Qieu Hongyi left, they joined the line to receive equipment and materials.
Fortunately, the support from the Brazilian Government was decent this time. Although there weren’t any real guns, everything else they needed was available. But among all the protective equipment, Gu Ji only opted for a bulletproof vest, skipping the helmet, tactical vest, knee pads, and elbow pads.
After all, bulletproof vests can be hidden under clothing, providing concealment and protection.
In contrast, helmets and tactical vests are too conspicuous and can easily make someone a prime target in a crowd.
Gu Ji took off his sweatshirt and put the bulletproof vest underneath.
Perhaps due to the current unrest not involving high-power rifles, the provided bulletproof vests were rated at Level IIIA. They are soft vests capable of effectively stopping standard submachine guns and handgun bullets, and notably lighter than the plate-insert vests they wore before.
He then picked up radios, batons, pepper spray, and more.
Most importantly, the main weapon: the X26 Taser Electric Shock Gun.
Gu Ji had seen this weapon before on security personnel during the bomb checkpoint at the Manhattan Financial Building.
It looks very much like an ordinary pistol, with a nitrogen-filled pneumatic magazine underneath, and when the trigger is pulled, the high-pressure nitrogen gas in the magazine rapidly releases, firing two dart-like electrodes from the gun chamber, with an effective range of around 7 meters.
Upon hitting the target, the electrodes can hook onto the suspect’s clothing, while the battery in the chamber emits a high voltage current through insulated copper wires, causing the criminal’s muscles to convulse uncontrollably, rendering them completely incapacitated.
Though its continuous battle capacity is limited, requiring a new electric head replacement after each shot.
But, as Li Yaoguang mentioned, having it is better than not having it.
After securing the weapon at his waist, Gu Ji led Gao Bo and the others into vehicles prepared by the embassy, heading towards the hotel where the Puli Group delegation was staying.
Along the way, they noticed that the glass windows of several nearby banks and pharmacies had been smashed.
Likely due to the conflict that erupted late last night. Several cleaners were busy sweeping the glass shards from the ground.
Just then, a loud rumbling noise surged from the crossroads.
