She Came to Heal, Stayed to Conquer
Chapter 252 - 157: Set Ablaze
Han Lei nodded politely in return, then began to carefully examine the interior decor of the Brocade Workshop.
The Brocade Workshop has three floors, each about 200 square meters, spacious and bright.
As Han Lei walked, she covertly admired it; the shop not only boasts a prime location with heavy traffic, but also a considerable size.
She recalled Yang Haibo mentioning that this shop belonged to the Wei Family, acquired by Da Jiu using the antidote to pressure Wei Chengchao to obtain it from his father, Mr. Wei, the Prime Minister.
Seeing his son’s recent interest in business, and with the trade of the Mandarin Duck Hairpin and Drunken Immortal Brew flourishing, Mr. Wei handed over the shop to Wei Chengchao without hesitation.
After circling through the shop, Han Lei already had a plan in mind.
She walked out of the Brocade Workshop to find Zhao Qiao’er and her husband still standing at the entrance, peering inside.
Han Lei approached them and inquired politely with a smile.
"Are you looking to purchase something? The shop is still under renovation; it’s not too late to visit after we open."
Zhao Qiao’er, upon seeing someone from the Brocade Workshop coming to speak, hurriedly waved her hand.
"No, no, we’re just casually looking, just casually looking."
After saying this, she tugged at Lin Yuanshan’s sleeve, and they left in a hurry as if feeling guilty.
Watching their retreating figures, Han Lei chuckled, a meaningful smile flickering in her eyes...
At the same time, the Turkic envoy’s convoy slowly halted at the foot of Yin Mountain, the wheels crushing the soft grass with a gentle rustle.
Early May’s weather had become increasingly warm, and sunset was later than before.
The glow of the setting sun fell upon the distant mountains, painting the sky a golden-red hue.
The elder tribal leader stepped down from the carriage, gazed at the outline of Yin Mountain, and furrowed his brow as though pondering something.
"Leader, we have reached the foot of Yin Mountain. Should we send someone ahead to scout the way?"
A young Turkic soldier stepped forward and asked quietly.
The leader nodded, his gaze still fixed on the distant mountains: "Go, be cautious. The princess is in the carriage, no mishaps."
The young soldier acknowledged, turned, and swiftly departed with a few Turkic soldiers.
The leader turned towards the center of the convoy, waved his hand, signaling everyone to start setting up camp.
The Turkic soldiers moved swiftly, setting up tents, lighting fires, feeding horses, their actions skilled and orderly.
Meanwhile, at a vantage point on Yin Mountain, Da Jing soldier Wang Dali was using binoculars, closely watching the Turkic convoy at the mountain’s base.
His brow was furrowed and his expression serious. After a moment, he lowered the binoculars, picked up a walkie-talkie clipped to his waist, and pressed the communication button.
"Number 2, Number 2, this is Yin Mountain Number 1. A Turkic convoy is camped at the mountain’s base, it looks like they intend to spend the night here. Over."
The walkie-talkie crackled for a moment before a calm male voice came through.
"Yin Mountain Number 2 received. I will report immediately, continue surveillance, do not act rashly. Over."
Wang Dali acknowledged, put down the walkie-talkie, and continued observing with the binoculars.
His fingers lightly tapped the barrel of the binoculars, a sense of unease in his heart.
The unexpected presence of Turkic people at the foot of Yin Mountain was clearly no coincidence. What could their intentions be?
"Dali, do you think the Turkic people are up to something shady again this time?" The young soldier Zhang Hutou leaned over and asked softly.
Wang Dali shook his head, his gaze still fixed on the distant Turkic convoy.
"It’s hard to say. But the way they look, it doesn’t seem like they’re here to fight. More like they’re here to negotiate."
"Negotiate?" Zhang Hutou’s eyes widened, "Since when have the Turkic people been so courteous? Aren’t they always direct and aggressive?"
Wang Dali chuckled, patted Zhang Hutou’s shoulder.
"You, always thinking about war. The Prince said, if we can avoid fighting, we should. Besides, with the gadgets the Princess Consort sent us, even if the Turkic want to fight, they’ll have to consider carefully."
Zhang Hutou scratched his head, chuckled twice: "True. But Tiezhu, how did the Princess Consort come up with these things? Binoculars, walkie-talkies, guns, they’re incredible!"
Wang Dali nodded, a flash of admiration in his eyes: "The Princess Consort truly is remarkable. If anyone dares call the Princess Consort a witch again, even if the Prince doesn’t get angry, I will."
As they were speaking, a clear voice suddenly came through the walkie-talkie.
"Yin Mountain Number 1, Yin Mountain Number 1, this is Number 2. The Prince orders, send someone down the mountain to contact the Turkic and find out their intentions. Over."
Wang Dali immediately picked up the walkie-talkie and pressed the communication button: "Yin Mountain Number 1 received. I will lead the team down. Over."
Clipping the walkie-talkie back to his waist, Wang Dali turned to give orders.
"Er Gou, you’re coming down the mountain with me. The rest continue surveillance, report any situation immediately."
