She Came to Heal, Stayed to Conquer
Chapter 248 - 156: The Fat Pig Is for Slaughter_2
"You head back to the hotpot restaurant first. I’ll come find you a bit later."
"What are you going to do?" Big Fatty asked nervously, looking at Han Lei, "You mustn’t provoke her!"
Han Lei thought to herself, I’ve already provoked her long ago.
But to avoid making Big Fatty worry, she replied nonchalantly, "I still need to keep myself alive to marry Zhao Zun! Don’t worry, you go back first."
Big Fatty felt relieved at her words and returned to the hotpot restaurant.
After sending Big Fatty off, Han Lei arrived just as Princess Changle ordered the chopping of Third Brother’s hand. Third Brother clenched his fist and was about to step forward when Han Lei hurriedly pulled him back.
Though Han Lei’s eyes burned with rage at first, in just a moment, a bright smile spread across her face.
With a flourish, she snapped open the folding fan in her hand and took two steps forward, raising her voice teasingly.
"Oh! Isn’t this Princess Changle? How come you’re getting angry here with some plebeians? That’s not befitting of your noble status."
Princess Changle saw a chubby stranger, but noticing Han Lei’s elegant attire and composed demeanor, her tone softened a bit.
"Who might you be?"
Han Lei beamed and said, "The Princess is prone to forgetfulness. I am the nephew of the Prime Minister Wei. I had the honor of seeing the Princess’s performance at a palace banquet accompanying my uncle last time. That dance... tsk tsk tsk, it was like a celestial maiden descended to earth, truly unforgettable!"
Princess Changle raised her eyebrows upon hearing this, a trace of pride appearing on her face.
"Oh? You are the Prime Minister Wei’s nephew? I seem to recall you."
Seeing the Princess’s attitude soften, Han Lei continued, "I’ve come to the Capital City because I heard my cousin Wei Chengchao opened a new shop, Yuanyang Hairpins, and the business is flourishing, so I came to learn something. What a coincidence meeting the Princess here!"
Princess Changle’s mood improved with Han Lei’s flattery, her anger evaporated without a trace.
She smiled slightly, her tone became gentle, "I see. I happen to be going to Yuanyang Hairpins myself to buy some accessories. Why not go together?"
Han Lei nodded eagerly, "It would be my honor to accompany the Princess."
Princess Changle nodded in satisfaction, turned around, and waved to her attendants, "Well then, let’s spare these plebeians today on behalf of Mr. Wei. Let’s go!"
The attendants sheathed their weapons and stepped aside. Third Brother and the farmers breathed a sigh of relief, watching as Princess Changle boarded her carriage and headed towards Yuanyang Hairpins.
Han Lei signaled to her comrades to return to the inn and quickly caught up with Princess Changle’s carriage, walking beside it.
"Princess. I once heard from a wise man in the mountains that women who frequently get angry age easily. As a young and beautiful woman like the Princess, it would be best to refrain from getting upset with unrelated plebeians."
Han Lei advised sincerely, showering compliments like they were free.
Inside the carriage, Princess Changle reclined lazily against the cushions, her demeanor both leisurely and arrogant.
Hearing Han Lei call her young and beautiful made her feel even more comfortable inside.
She lifted the curtain slightly to glimpse at Han Lei, smiling faintly with bewitching eyes, "Mr. Wei, I’ve given you face on this matter today. Keep it in mind."
Han Lei turned and caught the captivating gaze of Princess Changle, involuntarily shivering.
She thought inside: Her current guise is that of a wealthy chubby young man, why is Princess Changle giving her such a look? Is it because the Princess is about to turn twenty-four soon and is getting anxious?
Nevertheless, Han Lei responded respectfully, "The Princess’s magnanimity will be remembered deeply. If ever there’s a need, I’ll certainly do my utmost to serve loyally."
Princess Changle nodded in satisfaction, a smug smile curling at her lips, "You know your place."
The carriage slowly moved down the street, Princess Changle’s willful arrogance and Han Lei’s smooth talk intertwining within and outside the carriage, as if engaged in a silent battle.
Soon they arrived at the entrance of Yuanyang Hairpins, and Princess Changle, upon entering, waved to her maid.
"Quickly bring Yang Xiaomei here, have her assist me in picking some newly arrived items."
The maid complied, and shortly after, Yang Xiaomei came forward with a radiant smile.
"The Princess looks wonderful today. Coincidentally, we’ve just received a fresh batch of top-quality eyeliners and some newly developed creams. Would you like to try them?"
Yang Xiaomei spoke as she guided Princess Changle up to the third floor.
Princess Changle smiled slightly and nodded, "Alright, since I’m free today, help me choose some suitable ones."
