She Came to Heal, Stayed to Conquer
Chapter 227 - 150: Death Well Deserved (Part 2)
When he saw Han Lei walk in again from outside the gate, he was instantly jolted awake from his drowsiness.
"Miss, you..." The shopkeeper rubbed his eyes and looked at Han Lei in horror, "Didn’t you just go upstairs?"
Han Lei ignored him and, with her attendants in tow, stormed upstairs.
Opening the door to Room No. 1, the three warriors remained in the same state as when Han Lei left, obviously not having awakened.
Their hands and feet were shackled together, as it was known that ancient warriors generally possessed high martial skills, Han Lei dared not unchain them.
The attendants could only laboriously move the trio shackled together out of the room, then carry them downstairs and onto the carriage.
The staircase was narrow, and the warriors’ bodies occasionally hit the walls, making muffled sounds.
The shopkeeper stood behind the counter, watching this scene, his face turning slightly pale, couldn’t help but ask, "Miss, what is happening here? These people..."
Han Lei cast a cold glance at him, interrupting him, "Don’t ask what you shouldn’t, do your job well."
Frightened by her sharp gaze, the shopkeeper shrank his neck and quickly lowered his head, not daring to speak further.
The carriage soon returned home. The attendants carried the warriors into a secluded room, with Han Lei following closely behind.
She stood in the center of the room, looking at the unconscious warriors on the ground, feeling a bit of compassion, but soon making up her mind.
"Wake them up." Han Lei ordered coldly.
An attendant brought a basin of cold water and splashed it onto the warriors’ faces. Stimulated by the cold water, they gradually regained consciousness.
As they opened their eyes and saw Han Lei standing in front, a flash of murderous intent appeared in their eyes. Though they could only struggle to sit up, they couldn’t stand due to being chained.
"Don’t waste your energy."
Han Lei spoke coldly, her voice like ice. No matter how skilled these warriors were, attempting to break free from the shackles was in vain.
One of the warriors gritted his teeth and stared at her: "Who are you? Why are you capturing us?"
Han Lei smiled slightly, but the smile did not reach her eyes: "Who I am is not important. What’s important is, who sent you?"
Upon hearing this, the warriors’ faces changed slightly, but soon they restored their indifference.
Another warrior sneered: "Sent by whom? We don’t understand."
Han Lei was not angry, instead, she gently sighed.
"I know you are warriors, and failure in your mission means death. But have you ever thought, what if you can’t die?"
The warriors were silent, some even glanced disdainfully at Han Lei, turning their heads, showing an attitude of unaffectedness.
Seeing this, Han Lei got straight to the point.
"Your companions confessed that you were sent by Champion Hou to assassinate Canzhou King Zhao Zun, is that correct?"
Upon hearing this, temporary surprise appeared on the warriors’ faces. Though they quickly regained their calm, Han Lei knew she was right, these warriors were indeed sent by Champion Hou.
Seeing this, Han Lei’s eyes flashed with a hint of murderous intent, but she needed further confirmation.
She slowly pulled out a sharp scalpel from her sleeve, the blade gleaming coldly in the candlelight.
"Since you refuse to speak, I can only use my method." Her tone was calm, yet carried an indisputable determination.
Seeing the scalpel, the warriors’ eyes showed no hint of fear, evidently, their training in facing death was successful.
Han Lei, unfazed, smiled slightly, tapping the tip of the scalpel lightly at one warrior’s elbow, repeating her tactic.
"I heard there’s a nerve here called the ulnar nerve. If I gently sever it with the tip of the scalpel, did you know? Your hand will immediately lose sensation and will never be able to wield a sword again."
Her tone was very calm, as if she was teaching the warriors an anatomy lesson.
"What do you intend to do?" that warrior’s breath became slightly rapid.
On Han Lei’s charming face appeared an evil smile.
"I don’t intend to do anything. Just want to experiment on you. To see if after severing the ulnar nerve, you truly become disabled. After all, your mission failed, going back means only death, why not stay alive as my test subjects. How’s that?"
"You... dare?"
That warrior flinched, looking at Han Lei as if she were a devil. He couldn’t believe that such a sweetheart-looking girl could cruelly use living people for experiments.
Han Lei didn’t respond, instead, she coldly smiled, crouching down, her scalpel gently slicing across the inside of his elbow.
